Chapter 80 The truth within.
Isla’s POV.
Josie didn’t pull away, she held on to his shirt firmly, eyes flaming.
Josie had never been this way before, she was always calm and relaxed, even in front of danger.
“Get your hands off me, little slut,” my father snapped.
She pulled him to the wall, a chill left my bone.
“What did you do to my mother? Answer me, now!”
“Hahaha,” he laughed. “Look at that face. That was exactly how your mother looked when she begged me not to kill her.”
The board members all stood their feet at once.
“You did what?”
My hands reached for Josie and gently pulled her away, calming her down.
My father turned to me. “Your mother thought she was better than me because she had a company? She looked down on me, she played self pity on me, because she was doing better than me.”
“You couldn’t stand her success so you had to kill her?”
“She deserves to die. She’s just some cheap whore that was at my disposal.”
His words rang so loudly, my hand moved before my body could.
I landed an unbelievable slap on his cheek.
Dante tried to hold me back. “You shouldn’t dirty your hands for someone who isn’t worth it.”
“You think you can come in here and take over what I’ve suffered to build for years? Dream on.”
“Who says I can’t? This is my mother’s legacy and it’s time you return it to the rightful owner.”
“Someone, call the cops.”
“You think having shares in the company makes you the CEO? You’re just a little girl who knows nothing about life…”
My hand clutched to my chest as I breathed.
Josie was still trying to hold back, Dante’s eyes already turned cold and unreadable, he was ready to devour him at any chance he gets.
“I also have evidence of your funds embezzlement and tax invasion. Oh, you don’t know yet do you?”
“Know what?”
“Your spy, Lucia didn’t succeed. She’s in jail and guess what, she confessed everything you planned together.”
He pushed the guards away and slowly fell to his knees.
His expression turned pale as he muttered words only he could understand.
There was a knock on the door.
“Who called the cops?” A man in a police uniform asked, walking in as his eyes darted toward me.
“I did,” Mrs. Anna said.
“We have a murder in the building.”
We all pointed at him without hesitation.
“We have all the evidence of how he murdered two women, tax invasion, and fund’s embezzlement.”
Dante handed the files and usb to them.
The police man froze when he went through the files.
“Sir, you’re under arrest for the murder of your wives, funds embezzlement, tax invasion. Anything you say will be used against you in court of law, you have the right to an attorney.”
He was pressed against and cuffed.
My father rippled into laughter. “If I had known that I’d lose to a little girl like you. Josie, you think she loves you? She’s just like her mother. She’s using you all.”
“Move,” A police man said.
Dante cleared his throat. “I want him to rot in jail.”
The policeman nodded.
“Mom,” I whispered. “Can you see it? The person that got you killed has been brought to Justice.”
Josie closed the distance between us and rested her head on my shoulder as tears welled from her eyes.
“We did it, sis. My mother can finally rest in peace.”
The air in the room felt different, full of grief.
The meeting ended after a long silence. Josie and Iris were already home.
Dante stayed back at the company with me before I asked him to go get some rest.
“You can feel at ease now, honey. I’ll make sure he never sees the sunlight again.”
There was silence between us.
“Not when I have lots of hope to fill. Company funds are missing, workers need to be paid, the company is at the brink of collapsing.”
“You don’t have to worry about that when I’m here.”
“I want to prove myself, Dante. All you have to do is stand by and watch me do that.”
If I don’t prove myself, how will I be able to lead this company?
Relying on anyone was the last thing I would want to do, I won’t let that happen.
