Chapter 257

Chapter 257
Conrad POV

As soon as the words left the medic's mouth, my mind kicked in, and I knew what I had to do. I mind linked Liam first.

"Liam. It's confirmed. Luna Queen is in labour. I need you to get every wolf who is not a pack member off this territory immediately. You can tell them why, and after everything that Lewana has been through, they should understand. Also, get extra patrols on the territory boundaries. No is to come near my land, let alone my mate".

I can hear his urgency come through. "On it".

I know my only other job for today is to keep my mate and pups safe. According to the medics, she needs to eat and rest for the first part so she has energy for the second part. For security reasons, we head back to the pack house and our room. The medical centre is to open as it is designed for easy access. The packhouse, with Murdock's help, has been turned into a fortress.

As soon as we are in our room, I run a bath to help Lewana relax and ease any muscle aches. I sit with Lewana and just hold her while sending energy and a calming aura.

Arthur stands nearby just in case. It's not long before Mary comes over with food and drink. She looks at me and smiles slightly when she sees me in the tub.

"You know, Conrad, traditionally the men stay outside while the women handle all of this".

I stare at her with the most deadpan expression I can muster. "You are more than welcome to try and lift me out of this tub, but not even my Luna Queen could make me leave this moment".

I feel Lewana chuckle slightly as she snuggles up against me in the warm water. She turns her head to look at me, and I see a shimmer of Serena's light blue eyes as well. We know Mary is teasing, and his face shows nothing but pride at the sight of me caring for my mate.

I start to feel Lewana's panic levels rise. "Please don't leave. No matter what I say. I need you here to protect them. Oh Goddess, what if someone tries to take them once they're out and I can't fight alongside you? How will you protect both if they go different ways? You have to promise to leave me and go get them".

She's growling by the end, but I try to send more calming waves through her. "No one is taking them. I'm going to stay here and protect you. Michelle is going to hold one while Liam is on guard, and Kimberly is going to hold the other while Connor is on guard. Arthur is going to stay with us so he can help you in case I need to fight".

I rock her slowly, and she seems to calm down for just a minute before a contraction makes her uncomfortable. Mary is by her side in a second and starts showing some breathing exercises they have been practicing.

As soon as she is calm, she starts chuckling. "I'm not going to get any drugs to get through this, am I?"

Mary strokes her head. "No, sweetie. You're the only one skilled enough to do things like an epidural and calculate the medication dose needed".

She calls out. "Arthur. First thing on the agenda when I'm healed. Epidural training".

He chuckles. "Noted, Jellybean".

She slowly munches the snack and drinks the water and electrolyte drinks. She grumbles at first, but does it slowly for me. I eat as well as I know I can pass energy if need be. After about an hour, she states she is getting restless and wants to start walking. I get her out and put her in dry clothes before helping her around the room.

I can see her eyeing the door as she is walking past, and I know she is worried about what's on the other side.

I check with Liam, and he has gotten every Alpha and support wolf out of the house in two hours. Apparently, there were no arguments or questions when Liam told them to get out. Honestly, it was a nice change from previous interferences.

Hours pass slowly, and Lewana is getting more uncomfortable by the minute. I do everything I can to support her, and I hope it is enough. After another painful contract, the medic comes and checks on her again.

"You're at about 6cm. Everything is going very well and right on time".

Her eyes flash gold, and she snaps at them. "3cm in five hours is on time. When are they expected? Next week".

Just then, another contraction goes through her. I rub her back and watch on helplessly as I can't take her pain away.

The sun sets, and the room starts to get dark. Everyone in the room starts to automatically do the nighttime routine by shutting all the blinds. Lewana instantly panics again.

"NO. Keep them open. We are safer in the Moonlight".

I move to help open all the blinds and see the entire pack is still up and in the compound. I bring Lewana over to show her the support and how the fact that anything will have to get past that many wolves to get to her.

She gets checked again after she states she wants to push.

"You're at 10cm, Luna Queen. Ready to meet the Prince and Princess".

I get behind her, so my legs are on either side, and she can rest against me. I count as Mary taught and keep a cold washer on her head when she asks, while sending every ounce of energy I have to spare.

"The head is out. One more big push and we will meet the first one".

One massive push, and I feel the familiar bond snap into place for my son. A gentle, soft cry fills the room, and time stops. The medic lifts him onto Lewana's chest, and I stare into his deep blue eyes. Just like his mothers.

Another contraction starts, and it's time to meet his sister. Michelle quickly takes our son but stays nearby with Liam on watch. Only a few minutes pass, and my daughter enters the world with a dramatic, loud cry. The bond snaps into place for her as she is lifted onto Lewana's chest. She instinctively reaches out for our son and gently holds them as they calm on her chest.

After a few minutes, she looks at Mary. "The Moon. They need to be in moonlight so she can meet and bless them".

We watch as Mary and Arthur take one twin each and step into the moonlight. As soon as they do, I can see Arthur looking at both twins, confused.

"Arthur, is something wrong?"

He chuckles. "It seems they take after her mother more than we thought. Their eyes are changing colours. I think the Moon Goddess gave them their wolves early. Truly little jellybabies".
