Lewana POV
Yesterday really took it out of me. A wedding, a coronation, and a possession to top it off is making every inch of my body ache. The sun has barely breached the top of the trees, and I get out of bed, annoyed because I'm hungry and uncomfortable.
I try to waddle as gracefully as I can away from the bed to not wake Conrad and head straight for the kitchen. As soon as I open the fridge, I spot leftover pasta and dig in. I slowly make my way to the private living room and make myself comfortable with my giant prize and dig in.
I must have fallen back asleep in the chair at some point, as I woke with a kiss to the forehead.
"Morning, my Luna Queen. When did you end up down here?"
I open my eyes and smile at my mate. "Blame your pups. They decided breakfast started at 5am today".
I start to get up, but struggle as my entire body feels like rubber bands stretching. I wince at sensation, and Conrad instantly panics.
"You OK. You don't normally struggle this much in the morning".
I huff. "Yeah. Think the pups had too much fun yesterday and are making me suffer for it today".
Conrad starts rubbing my back to try to make me feel better. "Come on. It's been a few hours since you ate, so how about a snack for breakfast as we get you back to bed?"
As soon as we enter the kitchen, Mary is looking at her new oven with a mix of confusion and amazement, while Arthur is drinking his coffee and reading the newspaper.
"Conrad, honey, you really didn't need to get me a new oven. My old one worked just fine".
He smiles as he leads me to the bench. "This one has a rotisserie function. The attachment is in the cupboard next to the oven. Can do three chickens at once".
Liam, who has a mouth full of bacon, looks up. "Do you think it could do a whole Doner Kabab?"
Conrad rolls his eyes. "Course".
I can already see Mary thinking about things to try and probably wondering how to order kebab meat. I sit down with a groan, which draws her attention.
"You OK, sweetie?"
I repeat everything I said to Conrad earlier and reach for the toast and peanut butter. I start eating the first while I'm making the next one.
I jump when the door flies open, and Kimberly runs in.
"Come on, hurry up, you two".
Willow and Michelle stumble in half asleep. Michelle starts making remarks straight away before going to sit with Liam and snuggling up to him. "Stupid perky morning people".
Kimberly taps a random coffee mug she grabs and starts tapping on it with a spoon. "Attention, everyone. I want you all to be the first to know that a new hunter is on the way. I'm pregnant".
She is jumping up and down. Michelle and Willow go over to hug her, and Liam gets out his phone to text Connor. I'm not even going to try to get up again, but I have to tease her a little.
"So the quick wedding was worth it as it happened the first time".
Conrad looks at me, confused, so I explain. "We were all teasing her about timing, as Kimberly has never cared about the wedding. She always wanted a baby, and we knew she was coming up to her ovulation week. Four girls living together for years always know what's up".
You can see the penny dropping in Liam and Conrad's minds when they realized.
Kimberly comes over to hug me and can't contain her excitement. "I'm so happy that our kids are going to be close in age and can grow up friends. We'll have to catch up more later to discuss all this pregnancy-related".
One of the twins decides that it will be a great time to kick me in the ribs, and I groan while rubbing the sore spot on my balloon of a belly. "Well, the fun stuff about it will be a very short list".
Conrad starts rubbing my back again. "Are you sure you're alright? You seem to be in more pain than usual today".
Mary comes over and puts her hands on my belly with a serious look on her face. "It's because you're in early labour, honey. You should go to the medical centre to get checked".
"I'M IN WHAT?"
She nods as if she just told me it was going to be sunny today. "I actually thought this might happen. You haven't had any of those shadow nightmares since that night, as I think the Moon Goddess has been protecting you and the pups. The nightmare was likely caused by the dream shadow to cause harm, but the Moon Goddess intervened to make sure the pups were born under her watch and protection".
I let out what can only be described as an evil laugh. "Next time I see her, we are having a SERIOUS chat about her communication skills".
I turn to Conrad and see that he is frozen and has gone completely pale while he is trying to process this information.
He turns to Mary and, in a sheepish voice, asks, "So we need to go to the medical centre. Right now?"
She rubs his back to bring him back and offer him comfort. "There is no rush as babies take ages to arrive, so just take your time".
Arthur gets up to. "I'll walk with you, son. One on each side, so we can get my jellybean and jellybabies assessed".
We walk over slowly, which feels like running a marathon, but one of the head medics is there on arrival. It doesn't take long before I'm up in stirrups getting checked.
"Confirmed Luna Queen. You're about 3cm dilated".
I struggle to process what they are saying. "I thought my water was meant to break or something, and that is how I would know".
"That only happens about 10% of the time. The discomfort and eating carbs tend to come first".
I turn and look at Conrad, who puts his head against mine as he feels all of my fears flood through me. "I'm not going anywhere, Moonlight. Let's meet our pups".
