Chapter 55 Ava is Being Followed
Isabella couldn't help but worry about Ava. She had only mentioned the online video but hadn't told her how ridiculous the comments below were. Ava had done nothing wrong, yet those blind idiots accused her of deliberately seducing men. Isabella was furious just looking at it. After getting into a huge argument with those people, she couldn't help but call Ava to ask about it.
Ava propped her phone on a stand, started the car, and told Isabella about what happened today.
Isabella's angry cursing filled the entire car. Ava had expected this reaction from Isabella, and it made perfect sense.
"Where the hell did this bitch Mia come from? I've seen shameless people before, but never anyone this shameless. How can she be so disgusting? She saved Victor? Why doesn't she just go die? With her medical skills, it would be good enough if she didn't harm Victor, let alone save him. I'm absolutely furious. If I had been there, I would have slapped her twice right on the spot to make her see herself clearly. And Ava, you're Cynthia! She actually dared to compare medical skills with you. Ava, reveal your identity and crush her completely."
Ava held the steering wheel, looking straight ahead. Compared to Isabella's anger, Ava, the person directly involved, was much calmer.
She just hadn't expected Mia to have the guts to do this. Wasn't she afraid that one day when Victor woke up, she would be exposed? The key thing was that she could still brazenly accuse Ava of stealing her credit.
Ava shook her head and smiled helplessly.
This person's shamelessness simply exceeded her imagination.
She took a deep breath and let it out heavily. "It is infuriating, but Mia's scene today wasn't without gain. At least now I have a direct opportunity to go to the Thomas Villa to treat Grandpa, which saves me a lot of trouble."
"Ava, wake up! The Thomas family has treated you like this, and you still want to save Victor? Even if Victor did you a favor back then, your mother saved him first. You don't owe them anything. This thankless job—can we just not do it?"
"...No." Ava answered firmly.
Not saving Victor—she couldn't do that.
Besides, Victor fell ill because of her. No matter what, she couldn't give up on saving Victor. She had to make Victor better.
Isabella was silent for a few seconds, then let out a heavy sigh. "I knew I couldn't talk you out of it. Fine, but Ava, you must protect yourself. And now that you're in so much contact with the Thomas family, aren't you afraid that Finn and Cleo might be..."
"Isabella!" Ava's grip on the steering wheel tightened, and she raised her voice involuntarily.
Isabella on the other end was startled. "Ava, what's wrong?"
Ava's delicate eyebrows furrowed tightly. Looking in the rearview mirror, her gaze locked onto the black car behind her. She calmed herself down and said steadily, "I think I'm being followed."
"What? Where are you now? I'll come find you. Find a crowded place to park, don't get out of the car alone. I'll come right away..."
"This license plate..." Ava frowned. "It's the Thomas family's car."
"The Thomas family?"
"Yes, probably no one in Silverlight City wouldn't recognize their license plate."
"Why are they following you?"
Ava calmly operated the steering wheel, drove toward a parking spot, and stopped steadily. She got out with her coat and phone.
"Hello? Hello? Ava, are you okay?"
"I don't know either." Ava narrowed her eyes, her cold gaze staring directly at the car that had stopped in front of her. She spoke into the phone calmly, "I'm fine. Isabella, help me pick up Finn and Cleo. After I deal with things here, I'll come find you."
"Okay, I'll go right away. Be careful, and call me immediately if anything happens."
"Okay."
Ava put both hands in her trench coat pockets, her cool gaze watching Ursa slowly get out of the car.
Ursa carried a custom-made handbag, chin slightly raised, looking at Ava with disdain and contempt in her eyes, with the air of someone who had long held a high position.
Ursa's presence was strong. Ava was all too familiar with that look—it was the same as when she first met her at eighteen. Ursa always looked at her with contempt and disdain, always with such a superior attitude.
Ava's brow furrowed slightly, her expression calm, her gaze steady, her posture neither humble nor arrogant.
"Let's talk." Ursa said sternly.
Ava raised her eyebrows slightly with a calm expression and gestured lightly toward the café.
In the café, Ava and Ursa sat facing each other.
Ursa opened her phone and tossed it in front of Ava, raising her eyebrows coldly with a snort. "Ava, you're still set on seducing Joshua after all."
Ava glanced at the video on the phone—it was secretly filmed when she and Joshua were at the hospital.
Ava's delicate eyebrows furrowed slightly, but her expression remained calm. Even facing Ursa's sharp, oppressive gaze, she remained composed.
"You followed me all this way just for this?" Ava looked down, her slender fingers gently stirring the coffee with a delicate spoon.
Ursa snorted coldly.
"I'm here to remind you—stop dreaming. Ava, do you think you can still return to the Thomas family?" Ursa asked coldly, her voice full of sarcasm.
