Chapter 210: Remarried Again

Chapter 210: Remarried Again

"Alright, you just love teasing them." Ava shook her head helplessly. "Finn and Cleo, don't be mad anymore, okay? Don't be like him."

They were still pretty annoyed.

But since Ava told them not to be mad, well, Finn and Cleo gave Ava big smiles.

Then they lowered their heads to eat. Yet every time they glanced at the sandwiches on their plates, it felt as if they were staring straight at Joshua's face.

After breakfast, Ava needed to go to work at the hospital. Joshua got up and grabbed Ava's hand. "I'll drive you."

Ava nodded. "Okay."

Ava picked up her coat and planted kisses on the two little ones' faces. "Be good and wait for me to come home, sweeties."

"Okay."

Joshua pulled Ava's hand as they walked out. "Do you have any surgeries today?"

"Two in the morning, but they're not major surgeries. Do you need something?"

"Yes." Joshua said, "I want to go to the marriage registry office."

Joshua was really persistent, as if he was afraid that if they didn't get that marriage certificate, she would run away.

With everything piling up, they were already several days late, and he was dying of anticipation.

Ava smiled lightly, raised her hand to check her watch, raised her eyebrows, and thought for a moment. "Pick me up at noon."

Getting the certificate wouldn't take much time anyway.

Joshua's lips curved up, the gloom between his brows instantly disappeared, his gaze gentle. "Okay."

Ava looked up at him with her bright eyes and thought, 'I can't help feeling he was just waiting for me to agree.'

...

At the hospital entrance, the car came to a smooth stop.

"A Rolls-Royce Phantom. Did some super rich person come to our hospital?"

Inside the car, Ava reached for the door handle. Joshua reached out and held her hand.

Ava's clear eyes moved, glancing at him quickly, then turning to look out the window. This guy's car was already flashy enough. "At the hospital entrance, what do you want to do?"

Joshua smiled.

"What do you think?"

"You want a kiss."

"That's right."

Joshua's lips curved up, his eyes seemingly overflowing with delight.

Ava paused, immediately realizing. "No no no, I meant..."

She didn't even get a chance to finish speaking before her lips were dominantly sealed by the man.

Ava's mind went hot, she pushed him away in panic, quickly covering her mouth, looking shy.

Although the windows were closed, quite a few people were looking in. Seeing that no one was getting out of the car, some people actually stopped to watch.

"Joshua." Ava covered her lips, guarding against someone.

Joshua's deep voice carried a pleased low laugh. "I'm just claiming what's mine."

Since agreeing to remarry him, this person had really completely let loose.

"Even if you're exercising your rights, you need to consider the occasion. So many people are watching."

"You mean when there's no one around, I can exercise my rights however I want?"

Ava's face reddened. "Is that what we're discussing right now?"

"That's exactly what you mean."

"I didn't."

"I don't care, that's how I'm understanding it."

"Why isn't the person in the car getting out? I really want to see which big shot it is. A Rolls-Royce Phantom, the most luxurious of luxury cars. This is the first time I've seen one in my life."

"Me too, me too. I just don't know who's sitting inside."

Claire walked by, her gaze involuntarily drawn to the luxury car at the entrance. Her eyes lit up. Although she didn't know much about cars, after going to the Thomas Villa a few times, she recognized at a glance that this was the Thomas family's car.

Not only that, this was Joshua's car.

So the person sitting inside was Joshua?

Claire bit her lip. Why did Joshua come?

Could it be that something happened with Victor's condition, so he specially came to pick her up to go to the Thomas family to treat Victor?

It must be that.

Otherwise, why would he come to the hospital so early in the morning?

Claire lifted her chin, immediately overjoyed. Hearing the whispers of those people around her, she smiled disdainfully.

In a moment, she would get in that car, and these country bumpkins could just watch.

Just thinking about it made her feel even more delighted.

"This is the Thomas family's car." Claire straightened her back, raised her chin high, and said arrogantly.

"The Thomas family's car? Cynthia, how do you know?" Everyone perked up their ears.

Claire smiled smugly. "Because it's here to pick me up."

"What? Cynthia, you know the person in the car? I'm so envious. As expected of Cynthia, the people you know are all big shots from various circles."

"That's right, that's right. I was wondering why the person in the car wasn't getting out. Turns out they're waiting for Cynthia."

"Cynthia, what's your relationship with the person in the car? Coming to pick you up personally, the relationship must be quite special."

Various envious gazes came her way. Claire smiled with extreme pride, feeling like she was about to float.

"Of course. Alright, I won't talk to you guys anymore. Please take a leave for me later, I need to go out for a bit. Can't keep them waiting. I'm leaving first."

Claire smoothed her carefully styled long hair, lifted her pointed chin, and swaggered toward that noble Rolls-Royce.

Just then, the car door slowly opened, and a man stepped out.

Wearing a dark gray suit, tall and elegant, with a powerful presence and an air of nobility.

"So handsome. Did he see Cynthia walking over, so he personally got out to greet Cynthia?"

"Really so envious. He went to open the car door."

Claire bit her lip. 'Just as I thought. He came for me, and he's even opening the door himself.' Her heart raced wildly.

Every time she saw this man, she fell madly in love.

"Joshua..."

The man extended his hand, and a woman elegantly stepped out of the car. The woman's exquisite, perfect face wore a helpless smile as shocked gazes continuously shot over from the surroundings.

Ava looked up at Joshua. "Your appeal is really something."

"Did I appeal to you?"

Ava pressed her lips together. "You're teasing again."

"Alright, no more teasing. Go on, I'll pick you up at noon."

"Okay, you should get to work too."

Claire was completely stunned.

Everyone was even more disbelieving. Joshua gently ruffled Ava's hair before turning to leave, getting in the car, starting it, and driving away, all in one smooth motion.

Not leaving a single extra glance.

The woman who got out of the car, who Joshua cared for so attentively, was Ava!

And Claire, who had just had 'smug' practically written on her face, was still standing there in shock, having inhaled a lungful of exhaust.

So that man was dropping Ava off at the hospital, not specially coming to pick her up like Claire had said!

Before everyone could react, Ava quickly walked into the hospital.

Everyone took a long time to recover from this reversal.

Someone in the crowd accidentally laughed out loud, deliberately saying, "Huh? Cynthia, didn't you just say that car was here to pick you up? How come it just left like that?"

Claire ground her teeth in anger.

"That's right, Cynthia, didn't you just say you knew the man inside? Why didn't he even look at you?"

The mocking voices came from all sides. Claire couldn't avoid them, standing there feeling ice-cold all over.

That hateful Ava, it was her again ruining her plans.

"Get lost." Claire pushed through the crowd in embarrassment and anger, fleeing the scene.

"Why is Dr. Cynthia getting all embarrassed and angry?"

Thora appeared out of nowhere, skillfully linking her arm through Ava's. Ava jumped. "Where did you pop out from?"

"You ran so fast, I could barely catch up." Thora laughed. "Ava, was that your boyfriend who just dropped you off?"

"No."

Ava smiled. "He's my future husband."

"Really!" Thora excitedly shouted. "You're getting married?"

Ava quickly covered Thora's mouth. "Shh, keep it down, or the whole hospital will hear."

"Remarrying."

Thora was very surprised. The top beauty in their department - she had always thought she wasn't married, but it turned out she was remarrying!

"Just now, that was...?"

"My ex-husband."

"You two got back together?"

"Yes."

Thora felt like she had learned some juicy gossip today.

"The one who threw you that birthday party? And the one who came to the hospital looking for you that day?"

"Looking for me?" Ava paused.

"Yes, you didn't know? It was the day you disappeared during your night shift. He came to the hospital looking for you. You didn't see it, but he was so anxious. In this almost-winter weather, he was just wearing a white shirt. He probably rushed over so fast he didn't even have time to grab a coat."

Ava listened, her eyes pausing for a moment.

"That kind of worry and concern can't be faked. Although I don't know why you two divorced before, now even I, an outsider, can see that he loves you so much."

Loves you so much!

Ripples kept spreading in Ava's heart. She smiled lightly, tears inexplicably welling up in her eyes.

She nodded.

"Thank you, Thora."

...

Ava had two minor surgeries in the morning that she completed easily, even faster than the expected time. The surgeries were very successful.

Ava was in a good mood today, even the patients could tell.

During rounds, an elderly person noticed Ava's gentle smile and couldn't help asking, "Ava, is there some good news?"

"What?" Suddenly being asked, Ava was slightly stunned.

A doctor nearby teased, "Ava, you might as well write 'I'm overjoyed' across your forehead."

Several doctors laughed. "We all noticed, Ava, you're different today, something's up. Come on, tell us what good news?"

Ava's smile didn't fade. "There's nothing. Go do your work."

"Look, Ava's even getting shy." Everyone joked.

...

Joshua came early. When Joshua's car appeared, everyone knew it was here to pick up Ava.

Ava went downstairs. Joshua had been waiting for a while.

Ava looked at the man standing by the car, his gaze already focused on her, and her smile became even more beautiful. "Have you been waiting long?"

"Does half an hour count as long?"

Ava blinked. She was on time this time, nothing had held her up. She could only say he came early.

Joshua tapped Ava's pretty nose. "Get in."

...

Coming out of the marriage registry office, Ava looked at the two red booklets, feeling both delighted and somewhat wistful.

They had finally come together.

It had been eight years since she married him. Time really flew by. Ava still remembered when they got their marriage certificate back then, Joshua had been forced there by the old man, and the look he gave her was incredibly distant and cold.

At that time, he had such a gloomy expression that he almost scared the staff to tears. They tremblingly processed their marriage certificate, and as they left, Ava heard some quiet discussion.

"If you didn't know better, you'd think they came to get divorced."
