Chapter Eighteen
You could say that Damon was enjoying my company a little too much. After spending the last few days together enjoying our time together, I had to practically push him out the door to join his army mates for a fun night out.
He's been spending way too much time with me he needs to spend more time with them before some of them go back to fight.
“Don't you dare come back with a hickey,” I shouted out to them as I watched Damon slide into the jeep.
God knows what they were planning on doing tonight but I did want him to have fun.
All the guys gave me a mock salute before speeding down the road.
"Time to get this sweet ass in a dress,” Lily says pulling me away from the door and leading me into the room to get ready for our night out.
Lily had invited her best friend Lena to come out with us. She would be my sister's main bridesmaid for her wedding, so this night will be just talking about the wedding.
Fun times.
I showered and started on my makeup as I heard the girls singing with loud music on downstairs. We were at the family house and Natalie and my mum had a double date with their respective partners.
It was a night out for everyone in the family.
After I straightened my hair and worked my body into a tight black dress with my jeans jacket, I made my way down the stairs.
Just in time to join the girls in the chorus of last Friday night. Quite fitting actually.
I burst into laughter when we ended the song. Lena was a breath of fresh air and I liked her. Probably the only friend of my sisters I genuinely liked.
My sister tends to let her friends walk all over her and there was this other girl. Emily or something that always had her fucking claws on Damon.
Thankfully Emily didn't stick around for long.
Me, my sister and Lena were now walking inside our favorite restaurant. The waiter was taking us to our table.
We were sat in a small booth that was against the window which gave me a beautiful view of the city lights outside.
I was barely able to pick out what I wanted when Lily swore.
“That's the guys right,” she said her head up against the window staring outside.
Both Lena and I followed her gaze and rightly, so the guys were all walking inside this nightclub which was opposite us.
Girls had their eyes on the hot group of guys consisting of Adam, Damon, Adrian, Charles and Owen who I had just met today actually.
Owen had gotten into town this morning after spending a few days with his family.
He had two twin daughters at home and a gorgeous wife. We invited her to join us, but she wanted to care for her girls who were suffering from nasty colds.
I let her off on one condition.
I get to meet the sweet girls very soon.
Lena was growing annoyed with both of us as she could tell we were distracted since we didn't know what the guys were doing. How many girls were trying to flirt touch our guys?
“Girls, c'mon have a little faith in your men and enjoy our night out,” Lena practically begged us as she came back with three shot glasses of tequila.
I grimaced at the small but deadly glass presented to me.
Without a moment to think I drank the shot probably pulling a hideously ugly face.
I decided that she was right. If Damon were to fuck things up, I can deal with that in the morning, but I had to have faith in him and trust that he really does love me.
"Adam has family in Italy so we think we might get married there and plus the wedding photos will be amazing,” I was surprised. Lily always liked a church wedding but seems as though Adam had successfully managed to change her mind.
Italy would be amazing for a venue though.
“Mum has already booked us a dress appointment. She wants me to find the dress as soon as possible. Apparently, something to do with having a cardiac arrest,” Lily mentioned. I rolled my eyes, way to go with the theatrics mother.
But I actually do agree with her. Wedding dress is at the top of the to do list that's for sure.
"I forgot how crazy but great your mom was,” Lena said, it seemed as though she was remembering a funny memory.
I'm just glad I'm not the one getting married.
"Do you remember when she finds out you were sneaking out to meet Adam. The crazy woman came to steps party and dragged you,” I was already in a fit of giggles before Lena could eve finish.
I remember dad telling me about that when I was working. He spent a whole week calming down my mother. In the end he had to get Adam to talk to mom jus to reassure her. No more sneaking that's for sure.
Natalie was always someone who could calm mom down. They've been best friends for life they know each other very well.
I grabbed my drink to control my thirst after so much laughing and talking.
I gently placed my drink down back on the table, when suddenly I think everyone in the restaurant stilled once hearing the extremely loud bang.
I thought something exploded in the kitchen but instead we witnessed people outside running like maniacs.
"TAKE COVER!" we heard a woman shout from inside the restaurant.
I quickly grabbed Lily and Lena and pulled them underneath the table. People around us were panicking, some were screaming and running out, but I was scared for what was outside.
I slowly looked out the window just in time to see the window of the opposite building violently break, shattering into pieces.
My eyes could not believe wat I was seeing. People were running out of the nightclub onto the streets, some were covered in blood, others were struggling to walk even with the help of other people.
My mind could not focus on them however because my mind was on the guys. It hurts to say this, but I was mostly worried about Damon, I needed to know if he was okay.
"NO babe, you can go out there,” Lena practically shoved Lily down as she tried to get up. Yeah, no way in hell is my little sister leaving my fucking side.
Not a chance.
“But the guys are in there,” she exclaimed. She put her hands over her eyes as she let our cries. The most important men in our lives were in there and all we could do was sit here and wait.
Police sirens came from every direction and the street was surrounded.
The sound of gun shots was the only thing we could hear and even though the guys were strong and brave and had a lot of army experience they were not prepared.
"Lily calm down. We have to be strong for the guys we can't be making any stupid decisions alright,” I said holding onto my sisters' arms. It broke my heart that she was feeling this way and so was I.
But I knew Damon would want me to be brave. Be his little soldier.
You're right you're right. We need to talk to a police officer or something we could tell them there are men inside who have military experience,” she said standing up. Me and Lena looked at her impressed.
That's a pretty good idea.
Slowly and carefully, we stepped out of the restaurant and headed over to the police cars to our left.
We tried to not stare at the building that much, but it was difficult.
“Yes, my fiancé and his friends are there. They all are military." Lily was rambling on to a police officer. He was making notes and saying random words to his colleagues behind him.
I could tell that the information they were receiving was helpful.
The guys would be strategizing, finding a solution to the situation they are in.
I am seriously worried about Damon, but he would need me to be strong for him, for myself and my little sister.
"11 hostages inside sir,” a woman in a police uniform said to the officer. Lily was panicking over the news and couldn't contain herself. I on the other hand was listening carefully to every word.
The venue was targeted because of the guys. A group of extremists were inside the club and heard of military soldiers inside. I'm sure they were boasting to the ladies about being in the war.
Every girl loves a soldier.
I don't know how people were allowed inside with guns on their possession. This is not America its London for Pete’s sake.
I was instantly on the phone to Christian.
“It's not good Chris, they came for them, they knew that they are army and are holding them and others hostage,” I explained to him as I could him slamming door, grabbing keys and shouting.
Bless her heart I could hear Natalie already screaming and crying even with my mom trying to calm her down.
“Don't,” I heard Natalie snap. I'm guessing she wasn't interested in my mums' words of encouragement. Remind me to give my mum a hug later.
“Wait, I'm getting a text from Damon,” I said suddenly as I saw his name light up my phone., It’s safe to say my heart was currently having an attack at what possibly could he be sending.
I told Chris about the messages.
“Alright stay with the police and I will meet you there, the guys are well trained for this sweetheart be strong for your sister alright,” I listened to my dad as Chris drove.
I knew they were, but they weren't prepared they didn't have vests, weapons only themselves.
I was scared but I was going to be strong because it's the right thing to do.
