Chapter 162 Rolf's Cooperation Invitation
Chapter 162 Rolf's Cooperation Invitation
Astrid was stopped and didn't get to see Rolf.
The world was so big, yet the Prescott family had no room for her. Apart from her rental apartment and Diamond Ridge Estates, she had nowhere else to go.
The person she was looking for had left for the Montgomery Group before she arrived at The Prescott Manor.
In the CEO's office, Silas put down the documents in his hand and looked at the person coming in.
Rolf appeared very natural, his face wearing a smile.
"Mr. Montgomery, I didn't have time to make an appointment in advance. I hope I'm not interrupting your work?"
Looking at him, Silas smiled politely and briefly told him to sit.
The Montgomery Group's business covered all aspects of various industries. He didn't recall any projects that involved cooperation with Rolf.
From Astrid's brief mentions, he had sensed that Rolf wasn't as simple as he appeared on the surface. Just ten minutes ago, he had received firsthand news that Rolf had kicked Astrid out of Prescott Jewelers.
Originally planning to refuse to see Rolf, Silas changed his mind after getting the news and had someone bring him up.
He was a bit curious about what Rolf wanted to do.
"Good," Rolf answered without changing his expression.
Jeffrey came in with freshly brewed coffee for them.
Rolf smiled and said thank you, praising the coffee's rich aroma as the best of the best.
"Glad you like it. I'll have someone send you some when you leave," Silas responded flatly, without much more to say.
When experts face off, they're testing each other. Silas had the advantage on his own turf.
Rolf truly felt the presence of Cypress Bay's youngest entrepreneur and had to speak first.
"You probably already know that Prescott Jewelers is now under my control. We're a company with a long history, with many advantages, but also some problems."
"I've worked so hard to take control of Prescott Jewelers because I want to transform the entire company and move toward a more competitive and broader future."
"I know the Montgomery Group happens to be somewhat weak in the jewelry business. Now I'm willing to offer Prescott Jewelers' raw materials business for cooperation with the Montgomery Group."
"What do you think?"
It sounded like a proposal that would benefit the Montgomery Group.
The Montgomery Group's jewelry brand was indeed established later than Prescott Jewelers, and its raw stone procurement channels weren't as good as Prescott Jewelers'.
However, Rolf underestimated how well Silas understood Prescott Jewelers' operations.
The raw stone procurement channels had always been Dean's responsibility.
Rolf was using someone else's resources to curry favor with Silas.
The person who was currently trying everything to turn things around probably didn't know that his efforts were misdirected, and no matter how much he did, it would be useless.
"Why would I help someone who makes my wife unhappy?" Silas asked expressionlessly.
His tone sounded calm, but somehow carried a sense of authority.
Rolf maintained the decent smile a businessman should have on his face. "I'm sure Mr. Montgomery knows better than I do that in business, it's always about profit first."
Silas's lips curved slightly, but he said nothing.
Rolf thought he was weighing it in his mind and continued to explain his plan.
"Astrid likes jewelry design, so she should focus on that field. Starlight Gems' success was accidental."
At this point, Rolf's eyes finally showed some change, revealing a bit of his true nature as a man.
"Could it be that Mr. Montgomery has developed real feelings for Astrid?"
"She has nothing now. If you find her annoying, I can step in and, on behalf of the Prescott family, send her abroad to study and live."
"She had this plan before. I'd be helping her out."
Rolf spoke as if it were perfectly reasonable.
A young and excellent man like Silas would have women from all over the world throwing themselves at him. Rolf had watched Astrid grow up and didn't think she had any special charm that could make Silas crazy about her.
Men, after all, were all about looks, and they'd get tired of it after a while.
A strange look flashed in Silas's eyes.
He had seen all kinds of people in business, including quite a few self-righteous people like Rolf.
For a moment, he couldn't figure out what Rolf was really trying to do.
Whatever he wanted to do, the Montgomery Group would never be part of his plan.
"Jeffrey, show him out." Silas looked at Jeffrey beside him expressionlessly.
Rolf's face stiffened slightly. Seeing that Silas wasn't looking at him and had started picking up documents, he knew he couldn't continue.
"Mr. Montgomery, if you change your mind, feel free to have someone contact me anytime." Rolf insisted on finishing before walking out of the office.
As soon as he left, Jeffrey asked in confusion.
"Mr. Montgomery, why do I feel like he wasn't here to discuss cooperation, but more like he wanted you and Mrs. Montgomery to get divorced?"
Silas heard his words but didn't answer. Looking at the now-empty seat and thinking about the news he'd just received, he told Jeffrey to postpone all his later appointments.
Jeffrey followed behind, asking.
"Mr. Montgomery, where are you going? Do you need me to drive you?"
"When will you be back? You have meetings and appointments with others. When should I reschedule them to?"
Silas walked quickly, ignoring all his questions.
On the way, he called Astrid, but she didn't answer.
He couldn't help but speed up to the maximum. The moment he saw Astrid in the bedroom, he didn't realize that his heart had breathed a sigh of relief.
"You're home from work so early today?" Astrid was a bit surprised.
He looked somewhat rushed and even seemed slightly out of breath.
"I finished my work, so I came back to keep you company," Silas answered without changing his expression, sat down beside her, pulled her into his arms, and kissed her.
Astrid didn't refuse, but didn't respond either.
After a few kisses, Silas stopped, satisfied, and spoke in a husky voice.
"Rolf came to see me just now and told me he wants to transform Prescott Jewelers."
Astrid nodded thoughtfully.
Rolf always moved fast, beyond her expectations. No wonder she had lost. She was outmatched. She would accept defeat for now, but she wouldn't give up.
"If you want to go back to work at Prescott Jewelers, I can agree to his cooperation request."
Silas watched the changes in her expression, but Astrid still remained silent.
He had seen her working day and night for Starlight Gems, trying hard to prove herself, and he knew how uncomfortable she felt when she was suppressed by people in the Prescott family.
He didn't want her to keep putting on a brave face in front of him.
"However, the person in charge of Prescott Jewelers can only be you." Silas's tone was firm.
