CHAPTER NINETY: THE MEETING WITH THE ROYAL KINGDOMS ALPHAS

Ashina --

When Andor and I arrived back to what is now our kingdom, the Dark Moon royal pack, my parents granted us many rights, including overseeing new member rituals and other duties of a king and queen. The only thing left was to transfer the titles to us. My mother insisted on waiting until her return and wanted both Andor and me to undergo six months of training.

I had several meetings with the packs in the royal kingdom, and it became clear that there were too many packs in one kingdom, leaving their needs unmet. They also voiced concerns about my mother’s temper and magic, which led to Malcolm stirring up unrest among upset Alphas.

I proposed a solution to divide the kingdom into smaller regions, each with its own King and Queen elected by the packs. Additionally, there would be a counselor to work with the royal couple, ensuring checks and balances. Each pack would have its own council reporting to the main council, which in turn would report to the regional king.

The Alphas welcomed our idea, but they also had questions about Andor leaving his kingdom to become a consort King in ours. He jokingly mentioned it wasn't easy leaving his kingdom for his lady boss but couldn't help himself, making cheesy remarks that earned an eyeroll from me.

Upon returning a month later, Mother had four men towed along in chains by her little army. Two days later, they would be brought before the council and the royal pack for a trial.

As part of the fair trial process, Andor assigned the wolves that we have in custody lawyers from his pack, and he brought members from his pack on the jury as well. A meeting would take place between the king and queen and the council members I had created for the royal kingdom. Thereafter, the king and queen would read the verdict at the resumption of the trial.

It took me a while to figure out why my mother had not killed my uncle right away. She stated that he had pups with a human and that neither the children nor the woman had done anything wrong. She had been introduced to the lives of werewolves through his lies.

My mother had determined that the packs could decide his fate, and if death was the final verdict, she could wipe the family's memories of him.

My mother explained to the human woman about the laws that prevent humans from leaving the pack without being killed. My mother would need to assign the human and her children to a different pack in order to accomplish this. It is not yet time for my uncle's children to shift. It was also not possible to risk one of them shifting in front of the humans by accident. My mother was going to send this family to a pack near a human territory where several wolves were mated with humans.

I carried out the verdict for the people on my brother-in-law. They wanted him cursed, to know that his wife and children would never recognize him again. Their memories hold that he died, and that is the way it should remain. They demanded his face to look like an ogre so no woman could ever love him again. The only way to break this curse is for him to truly change his heart from selfishness and darkness to that of compassion in the light.

We had found the maid that had been Malcolm's mate lying dead in the weeds near the forest line. Her daughter, still a toddler, lay on her mother crying. My heart broke as the child kept crying “Mommy wake up!”

In adopting Malcolm's daughter, Melanie and Rector hope she will not become like her father, as she has positive influences from her loving parents.

She was my little cousin. We don't need her to inquire about how she and I are cousins. We want her to grow up knowing that she is not bad, it is her father who is bad. It won't be long before she's ready to stand on her own two feet.

It has been two months since the war and my parents had decided to have the crowing ceremony early. They were impressed of how Andor and I were reshaping and rebuilding our kingdom. They felt they needed a vacation, and would be back when I finally bore them grandpups.

Andor and I were tired from a long day. We decided to let our wolves loose and run. In the distance, we saw a large grey-shabby Alpha wolf. He looked feral, and his eyes were a beady red. He smelt of manure, and yet he smelt familiar. I felt I knew this wolf; I wasn’t sure how.

Andor growled at the wolf when the wolf snarled at my neck, preparing to attack.

What is weird, just as mysterious as he showed himself to us out of nowhere, was also how he disappeared into the brush near the lake. Our wolves spent an hour scenting him out, but found nothing.

Had the tale of the evil witch bringing Malcolm back to life been true? Fear welled up inside of me, as I didn’t want to put my triplets through another war.

This is the finality to this story, but could it be the beginning to another story of the triplets or Cadma’s troubles with his mate?
