A Party
A Party
Arya’s POV
Walking into the crowd, I knew I should have stayed home tonight. I should have listened to my heart. People sat around scattered like leaves everywhere. It was a party. A bonfire was held before the transitioning of new werewolves.
I didn’t want to attend but Kelsi made me go. After I had returned from Chase’s study, I scolded her for not telling me that Chase had called her to come. She begged me, saying Chase asked her not to breathe a word about it to me. I was furious.
Today he is talking to my friend, tomorrow he could probably be taking my son. I thought of going back and telling him, I didn’t want him near Chamberlin but then, I had already given him my word. Sighing, I decided to let things slide. In the coming days, Chase would be turning six. I would just have to watch him. If he goes funny, I’ll ban him from seeing Chamberlin. But a part of me knew that I could not keep Chase away from his heir.
Kelsi begged me to come to the bonfire and I said no. but then she began to ask for forgiveness. I told her I had forgiven her. She said she didn’t believe me and asked that I prove it. When I asked her how she said it was if I attended the bonfire with her.
That is the reason I am standing behind people with red cups, dancing and having fun, while I fantasize about reading a novel, curled up like a kitten in bed.
“Come on let’s sit here” Kelsi pulled me by the arm. Just as I was about to put my leg forward, I froze. In that circle were Chase and Angus. I realized it was filled with top officials of the black moon pack. It was like Chase knew. He snapped his eyes up and he was staring at me.
Immediately I looked away. “Come on let’s go, that’s the alpha’s circle”
“Come on let’s stay “Kelsi pulled me by the arm. I looked at her and she pouted. She wasn’t going to let this go. I knew hew well.
“Fine” I mumbled and we sat behind at the circle. I noticed a beautiful lady staring at us.
“That is Mika Dune” Kelsi whispered into my ear. “She is an advisor to the Alpha, she is the only female in his team” I nodded. She sure looked stuff as nails. She looked like someone I didn’t want to cross. Suddenly Kelsi stood my heart skipped a beat.
“Where are you going?” I asked almost immediately.
She pointed to the drink section. “What do you want?”
“Anything that has pineapple but no alcohol,” I said.
“Albeit, I’ll be right back” She walked away. While I ate my fries, I looked up to see Chase staring at me.
I froze. I couldn’t believe it.
Chase King was staring at me.
Was anything on my face? Was it the makeup? I knew it. I knew I went overboard this time.
Immediately I looked away. I tried to steal glances at him but I was shocked to find him, till looking at me. I turned my head away.
OMG! What does that mean? Why was he staring at me? Was I in trouble?
I had this urge to instantly run upstairs and straight to my room. Locking myself in. but I couldn’t. At least without Kelsi. She would not be happy with me. I searched for Kelsi at the drink stand and I couldn’t find her. Alarmed I whipped my head around, only you find her against a tree, laughing at whatever Angus was saying.
I rolled my eyes. Here I was waiting for her, only to have her flirting with Angus.
Angus was smiling. It was a first for me to see him smile. He has always been business. I waited for a while and Kelsi came back with our drinks.
“Thank you” I muttered staring dead on at her. And she laughed.
“Who knew you liked him” I said.
“No no—“she was interrupted by some people laughing. They were a game of questions or something.
Mika stared at me, as every round of the game went. My heart hammered in my chest.
“What’s wrong?” Kelsi asked while she gulped her beer.
“Huh?” I faced her.
“You suddenly grew quiet” she belched. She put her hand to her mouth. “Sorry… I mean… never mind” Kelsi said. Gosh. Now it was obvious that she wanted us to join in the game. I watched as it was getting to Mika’s turn to ask a question, I sprang up like one that had been stung by a bee.
“I need to use the bathroom” I whispered into Kelsi’s ears and walked away. Once in the comfort of the bathroom, I sighed in relief. I took my time in the bathroom. Maybe before I came back, the stupid game would have stopped.
My eyes widened in horror when I returned. They were still playing the game. What if I quietly go back inside? Kelsi will not know. I will apologize. Just then someone called me.
“Come, Arya, let’s join” Kelsi smiled as she beckoned me to come. With a pounding heart, I joined the game. But, I had to sit some chairs away from Kelsi. When I turned to my right, I got a pretty good view of Chase. Gosh, he was an eye candy.
“If you keep looking at him like that everyone will know” I froze. No way. I turned to explain then someone laughed nervously beside me. It was a girl talking to Kelsi.
So I kept stealing glances at him, hoping not to be caught Then there was one time, I turned to commit my theft, and there he was staring at me. Immediately I looked away. Oh my god.
“Alright people, gather round. We are going to play a game. ” a guy in a black T-shirt said.
“Truth or dare,” someone said. People booed at the person.
“No, we are not going to do that. Let’s play a game of spin the bottle” he said.
“We start” the guy in black yelled and everyone began to murmur.” The rule of the game is, the two people the bottle points to have to kiss and if you don’t, you take two shots of this spirit” he points to a famous brandy bottle on the left. It was the strongest drink ever on the werewolf side. Humans could get drunk at a sip of it.
At that moment, I wanted nothing but to disappear.
