Chapter 946 Chapter 946
He didn’t know the number but had to answer it. Sometimes, team members called him to order things. “Hello?”
“Why would you wrestle a jaguar, Webb? Have you gone crazy?”
He grinned. “Hey, Deva. I had no choice.”
“You’re just as crazy as Taggart.” She hissed out a breath.
“Crazy for my beauty, yes.”
Taggart was near enough to the phone that Webb heard him.
“It all worked out. How are you guys doing?”
“Good. We have the info that is needed to come here and shut down some jerks. I want to sick Amari on them, but that’s not my call.” Taggart said something that Webb couldn’t hear. “It is warm down here, though. My tan is top notch.”
Webb looked around. “We’re still getting the odd snowfall in the rain here.”
“I don’t think I miss that. Asher told me that Zain told him that you’re mated now.”
Webb looked at Rhogue. She may not shift, but she had good hearing. Her face flushed. “Not yet fully mated.” He decided to change the subject so she wouldn’t feel like there was a spotlight on her. “But we’re both going to be going out on the road tracking down rogue groups to be brought into the Alliance.”
“That’s great. Any of our kind should be accepted. Well, except the ambassador here, he needs to be beaten and locked up.”
“Violence is sexy on my beauty.”
Deva snorted. “That’s not violence, that’s justice.”
“Is good too.”
“Can you believe Foster is an Alpha’s mate? That’s got to be interesting.”
Webb laughed. “I might head that way just to meet her.”
“Oh. Do that. Tell me everything.”
“Are you done there?”
“Mmm, no, I think Raymond wants us to hang around and see if anything goes down. At some point, they’re going to realize their contacts are vanishing.”
“Hopefully, they’ll remain clueless.” He sighed. “We watched an op today, I’m not sure where they were, but it was a warehouse where they hold ours until they ship them off. A few in there were from Europe.”
“Is help needed there, Mister Webb? I can call Efem to help. He very fast to get to the places.”
Webb grinned at the expression on Rhogue’s face as she listened to Taggart. “I think they’re good now. Ender was told to burn the building down after he got all the cages and crates out of it.”
“Cages?” Deva’s voice was high-pitched. Taggart said something in another language that Webb didn’t understand, but he did recognize the anger in his enunciation.
“Yeah. It was sickening to see on the screen. Eaton duct-taped the two men they apprehended. Over their eyes.”
“Ouch. Good. I hope that it ripped their eyelids off.”
“Is very very painful,” Taggart said. “We must be back to the building.”
“Okay. We have to go, Webb. Do me a favor and leave the crazy to Amari, okay? She knows what lines not to cross.”
Webb cocked and eyebrow. “Does she?”
Deva laughed. “Bad example. Just be careful.”
“You too. Call when you can.”
“I will. Bye.” She hung up.
“Another teammate?”
He nodded.
“Where are they that it's hot enough to get a tan?”
He put his phone back in his pocket. “I’m not sure exactly. It could be that they were sent to Panama.”
“The Alliance is really going to help shifters everywhere, aren’t they?” Her eyes glistened with emotion.
“Yeah. We found out that Aiden Tomas hides down there, and I’m guessing the warehouse on that op is connected to the ambassador that Taggart and Deva are watching.”
“Is the Alliance going to deal with the ambassador, too?”
Webb nodded. “Taggart has connections all over the place, but at some point, Tyrell might get his wish and be sent somewhere warm.”
She smiled and then sighed. “I’m so glad that the prince reached out to Cassius and we’re here now and get to see everything change.” She put her hand over her stomach. “And I’m hungry. I think hanging around you is giving me bad habits.” She laughed. “Everyone thought I ate a lot, but you’ve got me beat.”
“Hey, being a bear is hungry work.”
