Chapter 805 Chapter 805
Bear was so covered in sweat that her hand slid right off when she tried to hold him. Calla opened her eyes and tried to focus. She was sure she’d just had an out-of-body experience. Sex had never felt like that before. She squinted. It was snowing.
“I’m trying not to crush you.” Bear panted against her neck.
“Its okay.” She sucked air into her body. “Snowing.”
He lifted his head and looked around. “That’s okay. It’s going to melt before it reaches us. I’m a thousand degrees right now.” He looked down at her and kissed her face a few times. “Blaise is going to send a search party.”
“Crap.” She patted his shoulder so he’d get up. “I forgot.”
He moved off her and knelt in front of her. He had mud streaked all over his chest and body.
She sat up and looked down. She was covered in it as well. “I guess a shower is the next step.”
Bear grinned. “You mean after we wrestle our clothes over it and get back to the house?” He ran his hand down over her legs. “Not even a mark.”
She looked at her legs. They were normal. Moving the right leg, she looked at the bite on it. “Just one.” When he looked at it, she could see the satisfaction on his face.
Getting up, he held his hand out to help her up. “I planned to woo you with tulips and lasagna before we bonded.”
Calla smiled at him. “I didn’t see the sense in playing a game of cat and mouse when we both knew we were it.” She shrugged and went over to her clothes. Picking up the pants, she glanced over her shoulder, “I’ll still take tulips and lasagna.”
He pulled up his pants and smiled at her. “I’m sure we can fit it in on the drive.”
Calla put her shirt and sweater on, then looked at her boots. She was not putting her muddy feet into them. Picking them up, she watched him do the same. “Do you think we’ll be alone for the drive?”
He gave her a heated look. “I think so.”
She exhaled. “God, because if my math is right, my cycle is due soon.”
His brows shot up, and he looked happy.
She held up her hand. “Just to let you know, I do want kids, but not now.”
His expression changed drastically. He came over and put his arm around her. “We’ll have to negotiate that.”
“Waiting to have children?”
He shook his head. “No. You going through the pain of labor to have them.” He leaned down and kissed the top of her head. “I don’t think I can handle you being in pain ever again.”
Calla looked up at him and smiled. “I’m sure there’s some sort of sedation for the father.”
Bear shook his head. “Then I’d miss it, and that’s not right.”
She tried hard to ignore the squishy mud between her toes. “How much mud do I have in my hair?”
His lips quirked. “You have a cavewoman look right now.”
“Wonderful.” He pulled her closer, and she leaned against him. “I love your mane, by the way. You should grow your hair out a bit.”
He snorted. “I have to cut it every two weeks, or it will be at my feet in a few months.”
Calla laughed. “You might pull off the look.”
“Right. I’ll just hold up every op because I have to pause and braid my hair.”
“I was starting to worry.”
They looked over to see Blaise standing there with a rifle in her hands. She smiled. “I see there was no need to.” She cocked her head to the side. “Stopped for some mud wrestling?”
Bear chuckled. “Until it started snowing.”
Blaise motioned to the house. “Might want to clean up. Your ride will be here sooner than planned.”
“Is something going on?” Calla glanced from her to Bear.
Blaise shook her head. “No. Beck is just needed down in Louisiana, and we’re trying not to fly anywhere right now, so we don’t set off any alarms if anyone is watching.”
Calla nodded. “We’ll get ready so we can leave as soon as possible.”
Blaise scanned the area. “We’re going to take Edda to my place. One of the teens is going to stay with her for company for now.”
“Are you heading to the US too.”
Blaise nodded. “All of us are going to be needed down there.” She smiled at Calla. “It will be a good workout for me.”
Calla looked at Bear. “I’m sticking to transporting from here on.”
Bear looked relieved.
“Go get cleaned up.” Blaise shouldered the rifle and walked over to the tree.
Calla watched her climb it and turned to Bear. He was looking out at the snow. Her cat moved through her. She was happy and content. Calla smiled and turned to go inside. She had just remembered something she’d said to Deva about her mate falling at her feet.
“What are you smiling about?” Bear was beside her.
“Just happy.” He had literally fallen at her feet when he broke into that room. Fate knew just what she needed and tossed him right to her.
