Chapter 685 Chapter 685
Taggart helped the young ones off the bus and then turned and looked around. In his head, it was mistake to put all on a bus. It was a big target for enemy to see easy.
“Get everything off. The bus isn’t staying.” Calum said loudly.
That made him feel better about it.
“We’ll take the kids inside and then take turns going for runs.” Shaelan smiled and looked at everyone. She was good lady.
A tall man came over and talked to Calum. Taggart wondered if he was one of the men from the hidden clans. He understood the need they had to stay that way, but to know where they are would have been good for him and his men. Sometimes, the trips they made to bring others to safety had been difficult, and having a place to stop and rest would have been a good thing.
Crossing his arms over his chest, he looked around. The new people were all men but one. His animal did not like the idea that there would be seven more men near his beauty mate. Turning, he saw that she was with her friend Amari and hoped for it to stay that way.
Calum nodded to the man. “I’m going to get Kellen to introduce the new members here.”
The tall man smiled. “We’re pleased that we were finally able to lend a hand. Even if it’s not official.” He touched his chest. “I am Kellen, I’m from a bear clan in Nebraska. My clan is still operating under the radar of any officials working for the Alliance, but we are aware of the situation, and my Alpha has given me the go to offer our help any time needed.”
Taggart liked this Kellen. He would be talking to him before they leave to get information for future of bringing more across the sea to safety.
Kellen pointed to the short man standing beside the bus. “This is Duane. He’s from a cougar clan in Colorado.”
Duane put his hand on his chest and bowed his head. “Basically, ditto to what Kellen said. My clan is out there if we’re needed.”
“We trade numbers, you and I.” Taggart nodded at the men. “My team sometime need a place to stop when we bring peoples over the seas.”
“Right.” Kellen smiled at him. “You’re part of the international team.” He nodded. “Absolutely. If you guys need a place to pause and lay low, we’ll have one ready for you.”
“Is good to know. Thank you.” Taggart put his hands in his pockets and nodded so they could finish without him talking at them.
“I’ll let Perry introduce the members from your Alliance Clans.” Kellen motioned to a man that look like the man Creed, but without the aging.
“I’m Perry, and this—” He pointed to a man standing by the house door. “—is Lemont. We’re from Liz’s clan.” Taggart notice the men both look to Creed and nod heads. “We’re here until you guys are heading out. We’ll follow,” he motioned in the air, “for a bit and make sure none of you are being tailed, then we’ll head back home.”
“Appreciate that,” Tripp said.
Perry nodded and then pointed to a man and lady standing at the back of the bus. “Bettina and Hugh are from Maxine’s clan. They’ve been running the perimeter since we got here.”
Taggart could tell by look they give each other they were mates. That made him turn to see his Deva. She still stand with Amari, and he felt a peace inside him to look at her. She was a beauty, and he was learning it was no just on the outside of her body. This make him happy. It had been hard for him to stay away from her on boat. There was no enough places to go to do it. He was glad for his feet being on the dirt again.
“I’m Zarek, and this is Shaw.” A man with black eyes stepped away from the others. “We’re from Effie’s clan, and we’ll be doing the flyovers when you’re heading out as well.”
“Speaking of.” The other man behind him pointed to the sky. “I should go do a once over and make sure no one followed.”
“I have to get the bus out of here.” Kellen started to come over to it. “We have four vehicles stashed nearby.” He turned to Calum. “We have to pick up three more.” He glanced around. “One is for Konner?”
Konner held up his hand. “To get back to the chopper.” He nodded.
“Okay.” Kellen nodded. “Devin wanted two more added to the original plan to make it harder to track anyone.”
“Okay.” Calum looked around at the others. “Are you getting them now?”
Kellen shook his head. “No. I’m going to shift and run back after I drop off the bus.” He pointed to other man. “Duane will take some of yours to get the other cars in a few hours.” He shrugged. “We thought you might want to stretch your legs, wings, whatever, and settle in a bit before you go out again.”
“Sounds good.” Calum looked around. “Amari, you and Tripp can get one of the vehicles.” He motioned to Deva. “Deva, you and Taggart can get the other.” Deva nodded.
“We won’t be staying long.” Konner turned and looked at his mate. Terah smiled at him and went into the house.
“I need to touch base with my team and get updates.” Illias picked up a case and followed Terah.
“I’m going for a run with my mate.” Shaelan smiled and walked to Calum. “My cat wasn’t fond of floating on water.” Many of the others laughed.
Taggart had no realized it. He was used to boats now. For years he had been on them to get people moved to safe place.
“I wouldn’t mind going for a run.” Deva looked at the others and then stopped when she see Taggart. He wanted that to be a good sign, but he was still not sure of things with her.
“Four of us out at once is a good limit.” Calum put his arm around his mate. “Let’s make sure enough of us stay behind to help inside.” He turned around when the door of the house opened. his mother stood there. “Mom, do you want to go for a run?”
She gave him a surprised look. “I don’t even know if I remember how to shift.”
Calum hugged his mate again. “Best time to try when Shae’s there to make sure everything is all right.”
His mother put her hand over her stomach. She had look of fear on her face, but she still smile. “Okay. Let’s give it a try.” She turned her head and look at the house again. “Maybe after, we could see if Alandra and Jorja want to.
“We’re not going to start staggering our departures until tomorrow, so there’s a lot of time for anyone that wants to go for a run.” Calum watched his mother come down to them. “We’ll be back shortly.”
Taggart was no watching the three leave. His eyes were locked on his mate as she walk to him. She did want to go run with him. That made his heart grow. His animal act stupid and do silly things with the idea of running with her animal. What had happened to his fierce, no-forgiving animal? He plan to talk to him after run about staying firm in their mission. Taggart had never been found or caught when he was his animal so he need him to not be silly lovesick creature until a time he no fear his enemy finding him again.
