Chapter 610 Chapter 610

Chapter 610 Chapter 610
Gia had looked in their room, checked the cafeteria and even the incursion team office, and now stood in the entrance trying to think where else to look for her mate.

She needed to tell him what Amari had just told her. She didn’t know how she found out, but it was huge.  Turning, she decided she would check in the armory area—if she could remember exactly where that was. She was so excited about this place. It felt like serious things were happening now and she couldn’t wait. Before she picked a direction, the outer door opened, and in walked Deacon.  He had those frown lines again, and she wondered what he was overthinking this time.

“Hey, I’ve been looking for you.”

He looked up, and the smile was slow to form, but it was real. “I was on the phone and thought I’d take some air at the same time.”

“Is everything okay?”

He nodded and shrugged all at once. She had no idea what that meant. The man needed to spend less time lost in his thoughts. “I thought I’d check in on Felice and Nina, make sure they were warm enough and had enough supplies until we get back.”

Her shoulders slumped in relief, “they have enough supplies for the whole winter.” She grinned, “I made sure we wouldn’t run out.”

He came over and leaned down and kissed her mouth softly. “I’m so glad the Alliance paid that bill.”

“So, they’re okay?”

He nodded. “I told them if the wind gets up too much and the trailer isn’t warm enough, they could use the cabin while we’re gone.”

“I think they should be okay.” She smiled up at him. “The Alliance wouldn’t give us flimsy trailers.”

“No, they’re warm.”

“Okay, then, why are you still making that face.”

“I’m making a face?”

He put his hand behind her and rubbed it up and down her back. It was another thing he did when his mind was swamped with too much. “Yes, the one that says you are overthinking or worrying too much about something.”

“At the end, she said she’d get the other two trailers ready.” He pinned her with a look. “Did you request more trailers?”

Gia shook her head. “No.” It hit her then. “Maybe they’ve figured out how to get the others over here.” She couldn’t wait. Not just because their clan would grow a little more but because after talking to Felice, she knew the living conditions because of the crooked ambassador, and that was no way to live. It made her mad, and she’d already spoken to Rayne about it, but with everything happening here, doing something about it had to wait.

“You think so? Do we need two trailers? They could sleep up to five if needed.”

She patted his chest. “Maybe it’s two couples. They need privacy.”

He grinned and pulled her closer. “Okay, I get that.” He frowned again almost immediately. “Speaking of privacy—did you find blinds for the porch?”

She nodded. “Walker is sending them to Beckett’s place because delivery to our little village isn’t likely after this snow.”

He nodded slowly. “Little village.”

She laughed. “It’s the start of ours.”

The crease in his forehead was back. “Do you think it’s going to be big? Our clan?”  He hugged her tight for a second and then released her. He still wasn’t comfortable with displays of affection when around others.

“I hope so. Maybe not huge, but twenty would be a good number, right?”

“I don’t know if I’m cut out to organize twenty members.”

Gia smiled up at him. “That’s why you have me. The best alphas’ mate ever.”

Deacon chuckled. “That you are.”

“There you are.”

They turned to see Illias standing in the hall leading to the office. “I think we’ll be installing an intercom system in here.” He waved his hand. “Devin needs you. His father is on the phone, and they want to talk to you.”

Deacon immediately stiffened.

“It’s good news.” Illilas turned around. “They’re in the prince’s office.”

Gia took his hand. “We must be getting more clan members.” She tugged on his hand so, he’d start walking.

“More. I’m still adjusting to the two we already have.”

“You’re doing great.” She walked fast to keep up with his long stride. “I even overheard Calum talking to Kaid about our clan and how it would be a good clan with a strong foundation with you and I overseeing it.”

He gave her an excited look. “Cal said that.”

She nodded.

“Okay, if Cal thinks I’m doing good, then I guess I am.” He squeezed her hand. “I just want to get back out and free some more for other clans.”

“We will.” She still couldn’t believe they now had Aiden Tomas’ half-brother on their side. “From the sounds of things, we’re going to free them all.”

“Here, at least.” He nodded. “And then we’ll get to work with the international team and hunt down every one of those shady ambassadors.”

“Yes, then we can relax and start working on our family.”

He stopped so abruptly that she almost pulled her own arm out of the socket.

She turned around to see him giving her a pained look.

“It could take years to end off of this, Giana, you know that, right?”

She couldn’t help smiling. He was always worried about everything. “I know. My maternal clock hasn’t started ticking yet, big guy, so breathe.” She shrugged. “If I have to step away from the co-ord team later on, that doesn’t mean you have to quit.” She leaned into him, putting her face against his chest. “I know you need this. It’s okay.”  She felt the growl in his chest against her cheek.

He hugged her tight. “If we weren’t being paged by the prince, I would fling you over my shoulder and take you back to our room.”

Gia felt her cheeks heat. “I don’t think they’re very soundproof.”

He released her and started walking again. “There’s outdoors.”

“Uh, brr, and I think you’re forgetting about the rogues patrolling.”

Deacon shrugged. “Nothing they hadn’t seen before.” He smiled, “I’m kidding.  I’m still processing that the Alliance is bringing the rogues in to help.”

“It’s about time. If everyone hadn’t been so worried about pure this or that instead of working together all this time, I don’t think the Tomas family would have managed all they have.”

“You’re not wrong.”

She gave him a sly look, “I think they should put my brother in charge of them.”

“Nox? You think Nox should be in charge of the outcasts of our society?” He scoffed.

“No, silly. Walker. I’ve been talking to him, and I think he needs to get out of my father’s offices and into the big bad world.”

Deacon stopped outside the prince’s office and tugged on her arm, so she was closer. “I think he’d be great.” He leaned down and kissed her quickly. “How did I end up with a brilliant mate?”

“Because she refused to run away when you told her to.” Her other news was going to have to wait. More members for their clan was good, even though her mate was freaking out inside about it.

He bared his teeth at her. “Sassy one too. Go.” He released her and waited for her to knock on the door.
