Awakening

“What’s the matter Kayla, cat got your tongue?” he said as he spun himself around and started to run away from me right as I went to go smack him. Damien was rolling his eyes. Leave it to Vin to try and lighten the mood with his wit.

“So, how do we know this is real? I don’t have any power?” I asked Luna Raven.

“It is real, but, it only transforms when you both are together as one. It is like a balance where one cannot function without the other. You need to reunite with her”

“She won’t, neither of us remember the other. She is a pompous, entitled, and spoiled little bitch. She is almost everything I used to be here in High School. If we’re twins though, how did she start school before me?”

“Minerva is very brilliant, she graduated through homeschool a year ahead of you.”

“Well, fuck me! Here I thought I was the bright one, that bitch beat me!” Everyone around me started to laugh. I giggled a bit realizing that I was getting jealous and competitive over her.

“It wasn’t fair what happened to this family! He and his father murdered all of you! His father took out your mother personally after she dared to challenge Lucius. She was defending me, they planned it. They were angry with the power in the pack they felt. They wanted it to themselves. When they learned that we were power twins, they wanted to harness our power. Sinclaire was constantly making advances at me when he learned I was unmated. One night he gave me an ultimatum, he told me to accept him as a mate, or watch my sister die.” Luna Raven was rocking back and forth sitting on the floor in sorrow.

“I was not going to give in, I was not going to imprison myself to them. I wanted to wait for my mate. I fought him. I used some of my powers and fought him. He said my sister would not live for long, he said I was dead to. I feel like I killed my sister! I am glad that I did not give in, I have Alistair now but, that does not take the pain away, the guilty feeling that I killed my sister! Your mother was a kind soul Kayla, she had the ability to summon water and earth. She made beautiful gardens. I had the gift of healing, and I could use telekinesis. Since I became mated, and she died, my power is lost.”

“It was deliberate, they waited until I was mated and gone before striking. They arranged your marriage. I heard that while you were saying your vows Verona, he cornered Luna Ember to commit to him. He lied and told her that they found Carter dead. She refused to believe him, she refused to commit to him. He began to beat her, I could see it through our mental connection and I couldn’t stop it. He strapped her to the bed; he began to severally beat her while having his way with her. When she continued to fight back using her powers, he beat her more then he..he..he.” she was so broken reliving it Damien knelt down and held his mother has she sobbed into his shoulder.

“Oh goddess! He ate her! He knocked her out, raped her then ate her alive before burning her!” Everyone in the room went deathly silent. I felt like I was going to throw up.

“Oh God! My sister!” she wailed. “The little ones! The little ones! I felt their life connection break, I felt their pain, I heard their screams! Tabitha, I have no idea how or why you were able to escape!”

“What if it was planned?” I thought for a minute.

“What are you saying?” Damien asked me.

“He knows I’m a twin, what if Sinclaire wanted us to escape, what if he knows about Minerva and I, what if he is waiting for us to reunite so he can have our power? He knows I am mated to travis, what if he is counting on me being mated to Travis, Minerva being chosen as a second mate? To harness our power!”

"Why would he try to kill you" Verona asked me.

"It wasn't him, it was Lucius, maybe Sinclaire doesn't want me dead, how else would he be able to steal the twin power that we have?" I spoke to Verona and Luna Raven while also looking around the room. I felt like I was speaking the truth. hearing this story from Luna Raven, I felt chilled to my bones.

My mind started to flash backwards. it was like I was being plunged back into that nightmare now that I knew who I was, and accepted it. I saw myself awaking from my bed, I heard snarling and screaming of my other siblings in a room down the hall. I grabbed Minerva and we hid. There was a underground compartment underneath my bed. It was a safety hatch that lead to underground tunnels only the Alpha's family knew of. I saw myself crawling inside with Minerva. We walked for what felt like hours until we reached the end of the tunnels. I remember now, we entered the woods near the ceremonial forest. I heard father screaming but, I could not see him. I looked behind me and saw smoke, it looked like a huge bonfire. We continued to walk. I was looking for my father when I found warrior Joseph and Omega. They asked me what happened. Minerva and I were covered and filth, we were shaking. I spoke

"Everyone's dead!" I said. I remember now, Warrior Joseph gathered me to himself. he found two other warriors and the omega that would play the role of my mother. I heard him instructing one of the warriors to take Minerva to his brothers house.' The memory fades, and I am speechless. I feel myself come back to the present. I hear a voice whisper like an echo of the wind "the time is now my daughter, their doom is at hand" I shiver and pray to the goddess to help us bring justice on them. I look around, and notice that no one has been aware of the fact that I zoned out and had a vision. Damien and Whitney are speaking.

“Holy shit! You might be right!”

"I agree with her, she has a point. A lone by herself, she is powerless, together, her and Minerva may be highly powerful"

“There is a catalyst, you Damien, you are my mate, and someone they never saw coming” I say as I hug him. He tightens his hold on me.

“Forever and always Kayla, Tabitha Stonehill” he says as he smashes his lips to mine. He held me as I laid my head on his should, trying to contain my emotions.

Luna Raven continued to sob, her voice sounded so broken that it caused me to rush her and start to sob myself. I did not know my mother, but I felt my heart being ripped apart listening to her memories.

“Carter loved that she was his fated mate, he was shocked to learn that she was a power twin. He really had a lot of hope for a better future with both of us by his side. He wanted to do away with that absurd concept of arranged mating. He wanted all of us to usher in an era long lost that would please the moon goddess. Your mother and I welcomed his vision. When I met Allistair, he was my fated mate, he was not arranged to me, he called to my soul. I do not regret giving my heart and soul to him. I am beyond happy.” Luna Raven said as she smiled in the direction of Alpha Alistair.

My sister was sobbing so hard, she was letting out so much pain. She took off her shirt and bared herself to us. What we saw was horrifying. There was not just bite marks, there was also stab wounds. Lucius or someone else had cut her to pieces all over her back. She had a brand on her marking spot. It looked like he had marked her then at some point branded her.

“What the fuck did he do to you!” I heard a snarl. We looked over and saw Beta Devin shaking with rage. There was a intense fury in his eyes like he was becoming a blazing inferno. I felt the heat of his wrath. Alpha Alistair put his hand on his shoulder to hold him back. I wrapped my arms around Verona and rocked her as she continued to break.

“Father, needs to see this!” I told her

“No, please no!” she begged

“Vera, may I call you that?”

“You did when you were little”

“He is lost to insanity; I mean the man tried to use my as a sex doll and when I wouldn’t comply, he tried to kill me. It may only be because, he thinks his family is dead.”

“What are you saying?”

“If he sees you, I am praying that it might bring his mind back.”

“You need to free yourself of Lucius, reject him!” Luna Raven demanded Verona. Verona stared at her in horror.

“You are a thousand miles away, he does not know where this pack is, reject him, do it for yourself, do it for the memory of your fated mate! For the siblings and mother, they butchered!” Luna Raven snarled at her in cold fury.

“Do it! for goddess sake, do not see me again until you have!” she said before she straightened herself and stormed out of the room.

My sister was in tears. I could see the weight of her guilt in everything about her. She looked so worn down. She was frail, as if she had been starved. I was deeply troubled now getting a good look at her. She is supposed to be Luna yet, she looks like an Omega slave. There is a dark sadness in her eyes that is haunting.

I picked her up off of the floor. I felt just as broken as her. Now I am slowly getting my memories back. I accept that I am her sister, I am the daughter of Carter Stonehill. I remember everything. I also feel a need for justice.
