Alpha's Revenge
“So, you left and ended up joining another pack, but never went back to find out what happened to the former Alpha and Luna’s child? As the Gamma, you didn’t think to break in before now to find out if she was safe?” I’m not asking in anger, but I need to know every detail before I go to this pack and pass any kind of judgement. So far, I know that he hasn’t told any lies and neither has she, so I’m more and more inclined to end this power-hungry Beta.
“Your majesty, I didn’t think that it would do her any good if I showed up right after it happened. He did try to kill me and with the rogues and warriors dead, I was hoping that he would assume that I’d died as well. Once my wounds healed and I was in another pack, the Alpha asked these same questions and I asked for permission to go back. I am ashamed that it took me so long to go back and check on her, but if you know Reigna...” I held up a hand to stop him.
“Reigna is the daughter that we’re talking about?” I ask them.
“Yes, your majesty.” said Fredrick.
“Dylan, get twenty of the elite warriors and be ready to leave tomorrow morning.”
My Beta looked at me confused before bowing and leaving my office to get ready. Fredrick and Ally looked at me confused as well, and I felt like an explanation was needed but I wasn’t in the mood to give one. If I had known they were talking about her then I would have mobilized a lot sooner. Reigna is my mate, though she doesn’t know it because she isn’t of age, but I have been of age for a while and during an Alpha summit, I recall catching her scent when I met her father. Dylan kept saying that he was getting the run around from Ramsey and whenever I’d talked to him on the phone, there was always deceit in him, but now he will look me in the eye and if one lie comes from his lips, he will be a dead man.
“Your majesty.” I hear Fredrick call my name and I clear my head of the thoughts I am currently having of killing Ramsey.
“Yes.” I say to him.
“Instead of going to the Silver Crescent first, can we instead go to the hotel? That’s the last place she was and you have the best trackers. I was thinking that maybe they can pick up her trail or her kidnappers’ trail better than I did. I followed as far as I could but I’m not great at tracking.”
“Hmm. That’s actually a good idea. I think we will look for her first and if we find her that will make it so much sweeter when I pass sentence on the former Beta Ramsey.” My Lycan growls sadistically in my head.
We go over our plan after I mind-link Dylan and tell him that there is a slight change in plans. Once the plans are finalized everyone heads out of my office and I make my way to the forest behind the castle and strip off my clothes at the tree line. My bones begin to crack and reshape and within seconds my body is covered in fur and I am standing on two legs. My Lycan lets out a growl before he takes off running around the perimeter of the pack lands. I let him take over completely to get rid of the pent-up energy and anger that has been coursing through him since we found out that our mate is the missing woman.
After running for two hours, we finally head back to the tree line and shift back before retrieving my clothes and putting them on. I head into the castle and upstairs to my bedroom for a shower and let the hot water massage my muscles. My mind wanders to the last time I saw her which was more than five years ago now. She had just turned 16 and I was there visiting her pack and checking on how things were going with them. I had already visited the neighboring packs and since I was there, her parents invited me to stay for her sweet sixteen celebration. Everything about staying for a teenager’s birthday party made me cringe. All I wanted to do was visit and leave, but when I went to decline the invitation, my Lycan asked me to stay. He never asks me to do anything and that alone piqued my curiosity. Instead of declining and coming up with a reason to leave, I said that I would stay. Dylan looked at me with a surprised look that he quickly covered and said he would get our luggage. The Luna said she would show us to our rooms and we followed her into their packhouse.
