CHAPTER
BLAIR POINT OF VIEW
Gosh, I hate Chloe. And I don't hate her because she’s mostly favored in school; I just hate her entitlement at jobs. She sucked at being an attorney, but she wants everything to go her way. She expects every firm to take her, and everyone should offer her jobs so she can flop in the courtroom.
I can walk into any establishment and ask that the previous attorney be fired because I can. If she were so good at her job, they wouldn't come asking for my assistance. Chloe sucks at her job. If she's allowed to run that campaign, my pack would never see the Alpha presidential seat—never in this life nor the next.
“Just this one job, and you couldn't just overlook it?” she continued, tears glistening in her eyes.
But I choose to ignore her. Chloe is the least of my problems right now. I have absolutely nothing to say to her.
Well, she doesn't stop. She stood there and burst into fake, hot tears.
I don't give her the satisfaction of pity.
She thinks every door should swing open for her. I guess she forgot this is real life and not back at school, where the professor runs up her grades for her even if she never shows up for the exams.
After a while, when she realized I was not giving in, she stopped sobbing and walked back to her seat.
After a few hours, the plane finally landed, and before I could pick up my bag, Chloe had already alighted.
I gently picked up my bags and made my way out of the plane. Once I stepped down, my PA was already waiting on standby to take me back to the Alpha's house.
I wasted no time joining them in the car. Throughout the ride, I didn’t say a word to either her or the driver, and thankfully, they didn’t bother to ask any questions. I sat in silence, my eyes narrowed outside the car, observing the different cars and malls on the streets.
It's winter…..quite cold…but I don’t feel it that much because my mind is submerged in crazy thoughts that I can’t untangle.
Now that I'm back to the pack, those thoughts started to flow back… I’m finally done with Dominus.
I thought we were meant for each other, but I guess the mate bond is always stronger. I blinked back tears, remembering how he asked me to abort my baby. He could have just left it for me. I wouldn’t even mind co-parenting with him, I can always do it alone.
I have always wanted babies, and now I can’t even have one myself.
A sharp knock on the window grabbed my attention, and when I turned, I realized we were at the Alpha's house.
I let out an exhausted sigh and reached for the doorknob. Pushing it open, I stepped out of the car and made my way inside.
Once I walked in, the first agent who saw me stepped back.
“L-Luna…” he whispered, shock in his eyes.
I forced a smile. “Hey… how's work?”
I wasted no time moving my feet, but he blocked my way.
“Luna, I thought you were supposed to be at work right now,” he said. “Is everything okay? Why did you come back home this early?”
I paused, narrowing my eyes at him, though I had sunglasses on, so he couldn't really see them.
And I was glad he couldn’t see how red and swollen they were from crying on my way here.
“Move,” I forced a smile. “I have something to do at home.”
He hesitated but moved anyway. Obstructing my path wouldn’t end well for him, and even as my husband's agent, he knew it. I'm too short-tempered for anyone to mess with.
Once he moved, I made my way upstairs. I could still feel his gaze on my back as I walked away. He and his colleagues exchanged a few words and kept staring at me, but hell, who cares?
Being a Luna, a lot of people gossip about me every damn day. The bloggers, reporters, and everyone in the media house do that, so it’s nothing new to see those eyes.
As I entered the bedroom, I thought of Dominus. He doesn’t come home at this time; he would be at work. But not alone. He’s with his newfound mate.
I shook my head, trying to shake off such stupid thoughts.
I shouldn’t be thinking of this right now. What I should be concerned about is how the pack would react to seeing me running another Alpha's campaign and not his.
I know it’s going to spark an uproar. I’m not sure I’m ready for it, but I’m willing to take the risk.
As soon as I got into the hallway, I started to hear little noises. At first, I didn’t know where they were coming from, but as I approached our bedroom, I realized the sounds were coming from there.
I paused at the door and took off my sunglasses, blinking hard.
The sound continued; it was the sound of two bodies slapping against each other.
My throat went dry all at once, and my legs went weak, but I grabbed the knob, trying to keep myself up so I wouldn’t collapse.
But the sounds didn’t stop; they grew louder, a little sloppy and breathless.
For a second, I thought my ears might be lying to me. Maybe it was the television or the stupid stereo he always left on that was making that sound. But as soon as I heard a voice, I knew it wasn’t any television.
“Fuck, baby… you’re so wet for me,” he growled, and the woman moaned in return.
I froze. The air left my lungs faster than I’d expected.
My knees almost gave way, but I held onto the knob, gripping it so tightly that my nails almost dug into my palms.
Then another moan and a deep grunt hit my ears again.
I wanted to cry. Didn’t he say it was nothing between him and her?
Yes, I knew he was lying, but I hoped not to find out like this.
I hoped he’d be respectful until he finally decided to toss those divorce papers at me.
I hoped we would both respect each other and not come home to find one of us with another person in our matrimonial bed.
Hot tears rolled down my cheeks immediately, and I pressed my fist against my mouth to stop the sounds that threatened to escape my lips—whether a sob or a scream.
“Fuck, baby… I love this pussy.” Another moan found its way to my ears, and I staggered back, hitting the wall. My vision blurred as tears threatened to pour down, but I blinked them away.
Not here, not now. Anyone but Dominus doesn’t deserve to see me this way.
I sat there, counting sixty seconds in my mind.
Sixty seconds, and I should be able to pull myself together.
After that, I didn’t bother to disturb them. I turned back and dragged my shaky body away from the door.
Every step I took down the hallway felt heavy, and my heart kept breaking.
When I finally reached the stairs, I paused for a brief moment and put on my sunglasses.
“Enjoy your mate, Dominus. You just buried what’s left of us.”
And with that, I headed back downstairs.
