CHAPTER 18
BLAIR POINT OF VIEW.
Hours had passed, and it was time for me to go to the airport. I stood in front of my window, staring down at the pack—one I used to hate, one that I despised for six long years. But soon, I’d be back to fix it up and make it mine. I looked down at everything.
A text from my phone grabbed my attention, and I quickly picked it up. It was from Ronan.
Ronan: Gone to the airport already? Safe journey ❤️ Will be waiting to pick you up tomorrow.
My lips stretched into a smile, and I quickly texted back, my fingers hovering over the screen.
(Will be at the airport in a few minutes. Thank you, Ronan.)
With that, I tossed my phone back onto the bed. I was a little nervous about the journey I was about to take, but I had to go if I really wanted revenge. What more is there to life if I don’t? I can’t even have babies anymore if I wanted to.
Darius said we would make a life together and have babies as we had always wanted. But I guess things have changed now. I wonder how he’d react when he realizes that I can’t have any more kids.
I can’t be a mother. I can’t have my own babies. I can’t pose with a baby bump or throw baby showers. I can’t do any of those things I’ve always wanted to do.
However, after a few minutes, a soft knock landed on my door, and I knew it was time for me to leave for the airport.
I quickly grabbed my bag and headed out. One of the cars was waiting for me, so I settled inside.
Thankfully, I was alone with just the driver, giving me enough time to cry. I wanted to so badly.
One minute, I was on the hospital bed, whimpering with my wolf, and the next, I was out here trying to run a presidential campaign. My child is gone, my womb is gone, but I have no chance to grieve.
I lay down in the back seat of the car, my head blank. All I need right now is a foot rub and some vacation on an island—not out here running some campaign just to get a clean divorce from my husband.
A few minutes later, we arrived at the airport. I quickly stepped out and made my way to the plane. Looking around, I saw it was the Alpha's plane; it would spark a lot of reactions, but I didn’t care. I hopped on.
The first step in, and there was Chloe sitting in the first seat, like she’d been waiting for me.
I wasted no time settling into the next empty seat behind her.
A few minutes later, the hum of the jet engine filled the silence.
I sank into the back seat, my head leaning against the window, eyes half shut. I could still feel the dull ache—the one they said would fade after a few hours of bed rest.
I let out a loud yawn; the exhaustion ran deeper than sleep. It was a soul-deep kind of tired, the kind that seeps into your bones until you can’t tell if you’re breathing or just existing.
For a long moment, I didn’t move. I just sat there, staring at nothing, watching the reflection of my face in the glass—tired eyes, smudged eyeliner, lips that had forgotten how to curve without pain.
Next, I heard soft heels clicking against the aisle. I narrowed my gaze; it was Chloe.
“Mind if I join you?” she asked, and I nodded. I had no strength to talk.
For a few seconds, she didn’t speak. She just sighed dramatically, looking out the window as if the world had personally wronged her.
“You know, back in school, I had to sort out my fees alone. I had to do everything alone because my daddy refused to pay for me after I refused to marry the Beta’s son he asked me to marry.”
I glanced at her, sitting up. Old story. I wondered why she was telling me, though.
Yes, we all knew that her family had disowned her after she refused to marry the serial cheat they had chosen for her back then. But her schooling was funded by one of our professors, whom she was having an affair with at the time.
She also graduated with good grades, thanks to him, but of course, Chloe would always ride the victim wave and give a sob story.
“You know it’s been hard getting good jobs. The good jobs have always been going to one firm.” She chuckled. “Oh, sorry, not a firm….one person…”
“And we’re left with just the little ones or the ones you rejected.”
I turned my head slightly, watching her out of the corner of my eye. She was good—her hand even trembled a little when she wiped away an invisible tear. I almost clapped. But I didn’t speak. I honestly didn’t have the strength for Chloe right now; she had always been jealous of me for as long as I could remember.
“And just when I thought I had one good job to add to my portfolio, you came again.”
“Couldn’t you just leave that one particular job for me?”
