Chapter 65 - Teddy
Sarah.
“Princess Jovita Coleman, don't worry too much. Everything is going to be fine.”
I turned around hearing my man's voice but it didn't seem to address me. The name, Princess Jovita Coleman, is still alien to me. I am Sarah and I'm glad that the name belongs to me rightfully even though it's my wolf's name. Right now I am standing in the rooftop garden facing west looking at the sun setting down.
“Milano, it's not that easy. Do you think Teddy will be happy after we leave? I know he is a brave boy and is going to put up a straight face when we leave. But still, he will be sad.” I said,
“Sarah, my darling, your kingdom is just a 3 hours drive from here. We can come back at any moment when Teddy needs us. We can just take the chopper and it will be just less than an hour.” Milano tried to convince me.
“Should we take Teddy with us?” I asked.
“No, definitely not. We have no idea about the situation there. We even don't know whether they will accept you or not. Will they believe that you are Princess Jovita Coleman without any evidence?” Milano's question does bother me but something inside me tells me otherwise.
“I don't know Milo, but I have the feeling that they all like me and they will accept me with open arms. I don't know who the villain is but I am sure they are not from the Coleman family. Whatever my mother and grandma told me in my dream points to the fact that the traitor is an outsider. I think they didn't know who the traitor was. But I am sure I can find out. No one except you knows that I can read minds. They are definitely not going to escape from me.” I said confidently.
“But as per Dad, Mr Herman Coleman and his family were the ones behind bewitching Dad. Then how can you be so sure that they are not behind your parents' murder.” Milano's words made me think over the matter and I still wanted to defend them.
“If they did have anything to do with my parents' murder, why would they wait for me? You know that the throne is kept intact till date and they are waiting for me.” I said,
“Then why did Mr Buchanan take you to your maternal grandmother? If they did care for you, they would have taken care of you themselves. I don't think they even know that you are still alive.” Milano said,
“I don't know Milano. I'll get the answers to all your questions only if I go there. Please don't make me more tense. I just want to focus right now only on Teddy. I am going to talk to him. Would you like to join?” I asked.
“I would love to but I have to go to the office. We are not sure how long I have to stay away from the office. I have to make arrangements so that the office can function smoothly in my absence. I hope Liam will be able to join back soon.” Milano said,
“But it's already evening. There will be no one at the office. The office time is already over.” I said,
“I know my dear. You know it's Friday and the office is closed for the next two days. So, I have called an urgent meeting of all the department heads in an hour.” Milano said,
“Okay then, I'll go and see Teddy. Take care and always be alert.” I said,
“I will, my dear, don't stress yourself.” He placed a kiss on my cheek and turned and walked towards the elevator. Seeing his retreating back I suddenly had a thought.
“Wait. Milano.”
I walked toward him and in the process, I took out the chain I was wearing. It was the same chain with a pendant that my grandma gave me. I now know the importance of this pendant. It'd been protecting me all these years. Right now Milano needed it more than me.
“I know you don't like to wear any jewelry. But I hope you will wear this for me. It will protect you.”
He didn't refuse when I put the chain around his neck. I carefully tucked the chain inside his shirt so that no one would see it.
“Thank you, my dear. I know how important this chain and pendant is for you and I promise to treasure it and keep it close to my heart.” He said before leaving.
Now it was my turn to go down and look for Teddy. In the past few days, I had let Teddy be on his own. I knew that I had to leave him and I wanted to make him ready for that.
“Where is Teddy?” I asked Pam who was busy giving instructions to a maid near the elevator on the ground floor.
“I think he is with madam Raymond in the library.” She replied.
The library is on the second floor and I have always tried to avoid that room. I am not that fond of reading except for the times when I read bedtime stories for Teddy. Teddy has always shown interest in books even though he has not started to read. I have seen Milano reading thick books and I believe Teddy got this interest from his father. I entered the library and there in the middle of the room sat Teddy with his granny. Milano's mother is reading from a book and Teddy is keenly listening to her. I waited there until she finished reading.
“Sarah, dear, why are you standing there? Come inside.” Mrs Raymond said as soon as she saw me.
“I am good Mrs Raymond. I am not very fond of reading and that's why I am not interested in this room. If you have finished reading the story to Teddy, can I take him with me?” I asked.
“I would like to tell you three things. The first and most important thing, don't call me Mrs Raymond. You are my would-be daughter-in-law and the Luna of our pack. Call me Mom as Milano does. Secondly, you should actually read more. It gives you knowledge and makes you more capable. Books are really good friends. Then finally, yes I have finished reading the story to Teddy and you can take him.” Mom said,
“I will try my best to read more, Mom.” I said to Mrs Raymond and turned to Teddy.
“Teddy, come on, let's go for a walk.”
We left the mansion and started to walk in the direction of the cottage we used to live in.
“Mama, are we going back to the cottage?” Teddy seemed a little worried.
“No dear, we are not. This is your mansion and no one is ever going to take your right to live in the mansion. Mama actually wants to tell you something and for that, we need some privacy. We are not going back to the cottage. We will sit on the bench on the way to the cottage and then we can talk.” I said and we both were silent until we reached the bench under the oak tree.
“What do you want to tell me, mama?” He asked.
“There are a lot of things going on in Mama's life and in some way or the other it's also affecting you. You are too small to understand whatever is happening. I want you to know that both Mama and Daddy love you and always want you to stay safe. Both of us want to make everything right and for that, we have to leave the mansion for a few days. We can't take you with us as it will not be safe for you. I know you have never stayed away from me. But we have no other choice. You will not be alone. There will be grandpa, granny, big grandma, Bella, Mary and Liam. If you want we can ask Grandpa Donald to come and stay here.”
I couldn't read what was going on in his mind. Why can't I read his mind? I was about to ask him when he smiled at me and said,
“Mama, can you show me some magic?”
I looked at him petrified.
“What did you say?” I asked unbelievably.
“I know that you are a witch.”
“Who told you?” I asked.
“Aunt Mary told me everything. On that night when I was alone with Aunt Mary, I kept asking her where you all went and why you all didn't take me and her with you. So she told me a story about a princess who lived as a maid. In the end, Aunt Mary told me that it's a real story and the princess in the story is my mama.” Teddy said,
“What else did she tell you?” I asked.
“She told me that everyone in this mansion are wolves in human form. She told me that Daddy is the king of the wolves and you are the queen. But I didn't believe her. Then she told me that you are a witch like her. Again I didn't believe and she showed me magic.” He explained and I looked at him amused.
“Then why didn't you tell me in the next morning?” I asked.
“Aunt Mary made me promise that I will not tell you or anyone else.” He said,
“Okay, so are you okay with the truth Aunt Mary told you?” I asked.
“It's so cool mama. Daddy is the king, you are the queen and I am the prince. It's like the fairy tale you told me. Mama, is it true that you can do magic?” He asked.
“Yes, but Mama is not an expert at doing magic. I got my powers a few days back. Aunt Mary has been doing magic all through her life. I don't know how to show you any simple magic. I am sorry.” I said.
“Mama, if you can do magic, then I will also be able to do magic when I grow up, right?” He asked because he didn't know that I was not his biological mother.
“I'm sorry my darling, you can't do magic. But you will definitely get special powers when you grow up. Just like you, I am new to this world. I haven't heard about any men doing magic. By the way, are you okay if we leave you here at the mansion when we go?” I asked.
“I will let you go only on one condition. You have to tell me how many days you will be away from me. You will bring one present for each day you are away from me.” His words made me laugh.
“Definitely, my dear and you can go back to your school once we come back.” I said,
“Grandpa Donald will be here, right?” He asked.
“I will ask him to come over and stay with you. But you have to promise me that you will be a good boy.” I extended my hand.
“I promise that I will be a good boy and won't make any trouble. Will you call me every day?” He asked.
“I will video call you in the morning and before bed.” I said,
“When are you going mama and where?” He asked.
“We will have to leave in a day or two. I am going to meet my relatives. I will take you to meet them once everything is sought out.” I promised.
“I am going to miss you, mama. Please come back soon.”
“I will, my Teddy bear.”
I hugged him just like I hugged the little bundle three years back.
