Chapter 72- Challenge Accepted pt. 2

Salara’s POV

This time I wasn’t fast enough to avoid being hit by the charging bull headed in my direction. When I moved to the left in order to avoid the fist coming my way, Daphne veered to her right, managing to graze along the bottom of my jaw and sending pain through my face.

Blood fills up in my mouth, exciting my wolf and earning howls of approval from her despite the pain radiating through our body. I spit out the blood from my mouth at her feet, giving her an amused smirk. “Is that all you’ve got?”

Before she has time to gauge my actions, I reach out and grab hold of her hair, holding her in place while I pummel into her face with my right fist. Blood sprays over the two of us, coating my once pristine workout gear with the sticky liquid. After hitting her a few too many times, I throw her across the training grounds yet again, letting out a delighted giggle when her body lands with a resounding thud.

I block out the sounds of the crowd cheering all around us. Most of them are chanting for their Luna, but I hear a view that are ordering Daphne to rise up and put me in my place. As if this pathetic excuse for a werewolf could ever put us in our place. Leigh is more powerful than any of these wolves standing around, and this pathetic whore will never compare.

Just as I am about to walk off the training grounds in victory, I watch Daphne pull herself up from the matted floor, her chest heaving as she huffs out in anger. Her body ripples before my eyes, her body changing from the lithe female to that of a large, brown wolf. The sickening sounds of her bones breaking and changing overpowers the sounds of gasps that are erupting around us.

It is not uncommon for the pack to train with their wolves out, but with me being a made wolf, it is frowned upon because I can’t shift unless it is under the full moon. It is clear that Daphne intends to win this duel without honor, and take my life as her prize. Because there is no way that she will be crowned Luna if she defeats me in this manner.

This is now personal.

She snarls at me from across the mat, her large canine teeth glinting in the blazing sunlight. A calmness washes over me, taking away all of the fear that I should be feeling when faced with a large wolf intent on devouring me.

Derrick suddenly appears in between Daphne and I, a terrified expresson marring his beautiful features. He speaks to Daphne’s wolf, but the sound of blood rushing in my ears drowns out whatever words he is saying. Daphne clearly doesn’t like whatever he is saying to her, but she bows her head in submission anyways.

Derrick breaths out a sigh of relief, before turning his back on her and facing my irritated form. Leigh was looking forward to taking on Daphne in her wolf form, it would be our way to show the pack just how strong their Luna really is.

The moment that Derrick turns his back on Daphne, I catch movement from her submissive form as she readies for an attack on either her Alpha or myself. Quicker than anyone can react, I launch myself across the mat and position myself behind Daphne’s wolf. My arms wrap arounds her back easily, tackling her to the floor in one move.

Her wolf scrapes her feet against the softened ground, trying to find purchase in order to push me off of her. Her back claws end up breaking free from beneath her, digging into my upper thighs as she uses me to launch herself out of my arms.

Blood flows down my leg, slickening the ground beneath me, and causing a burning sensation to settle in my leg. I shove aside the pain from my leg, readying myself for another attack from the out of control wolf. It is clear from the look in Daphne’s eyes that she has allowed her feral side to take over in her anger.

She snaps her teeth at me in warning, before turning on her heel and launching herself at Derrick’s startled form. Her jaws latch around his hip, digging in deep until the sound of crunching bones can be heard by all present.

Warriors rush to save their Alpha from the jaws of Daphne’s wolf, but I am quicker to respond. Something surges beneath my skin, causing an itching feeling to spread all over my body and a tingling sensation to appear in my bones.

Before I know what is happening, I am flying through the air on all fours, latching onto the back of Daphne’s neck with my newly formed canines. All movement stops around us, the shock of what has just happened enough to cause everyone to freeze.

Everyone except for Daphne.

She releases Derrick from her grasp, flipping her head left and right in an attempt to escape my grasp. I latch onto her fur further, halting her movements until she is finally calm enough to change back to her human form. Once she is fully human, I drop her naked form on the ground, letting loose a menacing growl right in her face.

A hand touching the top of my head from my right earns my attention, my senses recognizing instantly who it is. My eyes don’t leave Daphne, until I see two nervous warriors come close and grab hold of her from either side.

“Salara?” Derrick breaths out in wonder from my right, his hands stroking along my white fur that is coated in red. I turn my head in his direction, licking his face to let him know that I have not lost my marbles like the naked woman being dragged away.

I instantly turn my head in their direction, letting out a warning growl that has the warriors halting in their step, the scent of their fear permeating the air. No one dares to move an inch out of fear, a fear that my wolf happily eats up as she assists me in turning back to my human form.

I pull myself up as tall as I can make myself, my gaze wandering over those that are staring at me in part aww and part fear. Derrick tenses beside me, instantly ripping off the ripped t-shirt he was just wearing and forcefully pushing it over my head. With a roll of my eyes, I put the bloodied and torn shirt over my naked flesh in order to appease him.

When my body is mostly covered from the lustful eyes of the wolves around me, I turn my attention back to the men that have dragged Daphne’s terrified form away. “Bring her back over here.” I order them, watching as they obey me without missing a beat.

This obedience has my wolf purring in happiness in my mind, at least I hope it is in my mind. I still find it weird that my wolf likes to purr, which is something wolves are not supposed to be able to do due to lacking something that cats have. Either way, it is weird.

Once Daphne is brought back in front of me, I watch as she squirms in an attempt to get away from us. Her eyes pleading with Derrick, knowing that her punishment will be severe for attacking her Alpha.

I lean down until we are nearly face to face, relishing the fear that I can see burning in her eyes when she looks at me now. My hand moves up to stroke along her damaged cheek, causing her to flinch in my grasp.

“He will never be yours.”
