Chapter 117
"Yes" I reply delayed.
"Do you mind if you got on the bed for me?" he said pointing towards the bed. It was a decent looking one taking that it was a hospital bed.
Obediently I get on the bed and raise my shirt up to expose my now protruding belly.
He is up and about around his office gathering all the things he needs and is soon at my side. "This will feel cold." He warns first hand before slapping on some blue colored goo onto my belly. As the semi liquid looking stuff hit my skin, I flinch a little.
He then takes this little part of the ultra sound machine that rolls across my stomach and immediately show me my baby. He places it on the spread goo substances and starts moving it around.
Instantly the room is filled with beating sounds that had to indicate my baby's heartbeat. It sounded so beautiful.
"Look, there are his feet." The doctor says. I look at the monitor and there he was. My baby. My eyes were watering uncontrollable that I couldn't stop the few tears that managed to drop from my eyes.
Never have I seen such a beautiful sight. I never got this privilege while I was with the twins. But this time I got to, probably the last too. Who was I kidding. This was in fact my last pup. After Aiden, I don't think I was going to let in any other man like into my life like that. Maybe being a wife wasn't meant for me. maybe I was only meant to be a mother. If so then I was going to do my best at it.
I was just glad that I got to take along little copies of Aiden with me to remind me of him. If I was being honest with myself, I was not over Aiden and I still loved him dearly. At night when I was sure the pups were fast asleep. I would curl up into the tightest ball I could get my body into and sob my heart out.
I was hurt, injured, bruised and not healed. Of all things, my worst fears come to haunt me in real life. All that stuff I was afraid of happened and it was just like a dream. I'm sorry, I mean nightmare. One of the worst nightmares of mine was that one instant I saw it with my own eyes. I call it the drop off day.
This day has been embedded in my mind and can never seem to leave. It has been a companion at night and haunts me in the day. I call it the drop off day because it was on this day that I had to collect my pups in exchange for my husband. Sounded like some sort of dodgy deal to me. and the best part of it was that I dropped off into a near coma and got dropped off with no word.
I knew it was Aiden who had dropped us off because by the time I was waking up we were all smelling of Aiden. It gave me great comfort to know that he was the one who sent us home but as days went by with no word I lost all faith.
And then he strikes the last nail by sending me those forsaken documents that ended my marriage with a smooth stroke of ink on the paper. Just like that he had fallen for Claire. I get it, she was there first but what happened to hating her because she manipulated you?
The endless string of questions keep on going that I did realize that the doctor was done and had switched off the machine. Holding out a printed paper to me he tells me he put it upon himself and made a copy for me to carry.
I look at the figure in the black and white image. I look up at the doctor with a lot of emotion and mouth out "Thank you."
He had cleaned me up so I could sit up. I look at the picture again and choke on a half sob half laugh. At the corner of my eye I see Rafe standing in the carrier, as if asking to see what I was looking at.
I go to their side and show then the picture, Raven wanted to touch it but Rafe was just genuinely interested. As if he knew that it was his coming sibling. Sometimes the possibilities of this happening scared me a little. I would be joyous that I birthed geniuses but having such around the house should be a bit of a pain.
Like herself, Raven smiles so while that she gets noisy with her smile. I loved that she was such an enthusiastic person. I could only imagine her older and a teenager. With her looks, she could easily make it into cheerleading. She seemed too good at cheering people up. Ha, bad joke forgive me.
Thanking the doctor once again before leaving the office, I happily make my way out only to find a Jeremiah at the door badging in. "Hello father, I will now be taking Miss Bella here to lunch and dropping of the little ones home."
"Okay, have a safe one" the doctor replies. For a person who has been in their presence for less than two minutes, I could tell that these two had a smooth relationship with each other. I found it cute that adults could get along with their parents so well.
"Miss Roberts, shall we?" he gestures with one arm as he carries the carrier in the other. I proceed him out of the office and into the waiting room. He then leads us out to the car and are on the way to his place as he indicated.
