Ray POV
I sat on my couch, holding a bottle of whiskey.
Which I occasionally sipped. As it helped with the storm that was brewing inside me.
It’s been two days since I tried to kill my father, and it had failed whole fully.
And not just that. It has added to my issues and problems.
After receiving the call from my father, he boasted about how he killed Nicolas.
A maid had overheard Nicholas's conversations with me and had gone to report it to my father. Who had taken matters into his own hands?
I vowed to kill the maid who ruined my plan. But that was if I could escape the fury of my father.
He had disowned me over the phone and had promised to turn me to the elder council.
He also told me to run as far as I could. For you, he was to catch me. He sure as hell wouldn’t be merciful on me.
That had felt as terrifying as it did when I heard it. It still felt terrifying just thinking about it.
Cause for the first time. My father wasn’t bluffing. And he could end my existence.
But rather than running away. I spent the last two days cooped up in my apartment.
I didn’t know if it was out of fear or pride.
But I hadn’t been able to convince myself to run away.
What I had been able to do was try to reach the Lunari. I was ready to be the Lunari enslaved person.
As it was better than being dead. However, the Lunari didn’t seem to care about my new resolve. Cause all my calls went to voicemails.
I did make good use of the voicemails. But I still haven’t gotten any response.
That drove me crazy. Adding to the fact that I felt on edge by my father’s threats.
There hadn’t been any move made in my life. Or on arresting me and taking me to the elders council.
And that alone made me on edge. I had my me trailing my father.
But they weren’t able to find out much.
However, they found out that I was a mess with my father. Soon, some of them began to run away.
The Cowards and ingrates that they were! They knew staying behind could cost them their lives.
I gulped on the whiskey again. And the effect went straight to my brain. Making it fuzzy.
Which calm the fear and agony I felt.
I heard a loud bang when I was about to take the second sip—turning my head in the direction.
I saw my door had been removed from its previous position and was lying on the floor.
And a troupe of armed men all entered my home. They had guns and knives in their hands.
But what was peculiar was the packing seal on their clothes, which indicated that the men were sent from the elder council, probably to arrest me or kill me.
It seems my fears had finally come true.
However, I didn’t feel fear. And maybe the whiskey was to be blamed.
I just laughed at the sight of them and took another gulp of my whiskey.
“Beta Ray. You are asked to be escorted to the elder council.”
I rolled my eyes.
“What took you all so long? I was dying of fear. Well, not anymore.” A hiccup escaped my mouth.
There were about twenty men in the room, and they all gave me a crazy look.
Two moved closer to come to take me. Except I didn’t wish to make this easier on them. And the fact that twenty men were sent to get me.
It was probably because they knew I wouldn’t make it easy to be taken.
And so when the two came. I used the whiskey bottle to hit their head. And then delivered a kick to both of their faces.
Which caused them to stumble on the floor In front of me.
The others cocked their gun immediately.
“Come on, the gun is unfair. Drop them and come at me like real wolves.” I whined, getting up from my seat.
However, the effect of the whiskey made my leg fuzzy and unstable.
So when a blow landed on my face, I could not dodge it.
The blow had been given by the two guys who had stood up from the hit I gave to them.
They looked brand new, almost like I didn’t just kill them, which would be the effect of their werewolf's healing abilities.
It was times like this that made me hate werewolf powers.
I tried to hit back. But it was dodged. Adding to the fact that my movements were slurring.
I landed more blows than I attempted to give to them.
And soon, I was bawling on the floor as a result of the pain I felt.
To think these men once upon a time Referred to me as their superior.
To Think they would be the ones to be giving me such a humiliating beating… life indeed was a bitch.
After I had been bruised with blows and kicks, my hands were tied to the back.
And I was taken in their vehicle and driven away from my home.
I was too weak and alcoholic fuzzy to have put up much restrains.
I hadn’t even noticed when the vehicle had arrived at the pack’s headquarters—Adrien’s home.
I just knew that I was being carried from the vehicle. And straight to the meeting hall where the elders usually had their meeting.
On getting inside. I was dropped to the floor like a low rat.
And the men went out of the netting hall afterward.
Thankfully, my wounds had healed back.
But my brain was still fuzzy. And my body was restrained with ropes.
I whipped my head to take in my surroundings.
Then, I noticed the stares given to me by the elders in the meeting hall.
Adrien and my father were also present. Although Adrien looked Shocked to see me in
Such state.
My father looked happy to see me in such pain.
“Let the meeting commence.” One of the elders said.
And they all began talking.
I didn’t pay much attention to it.
I didn’t see the need.
Cause I knew what was coming. Plus, no one in this room would fight against it, So it was better to take it all in.
“You have said your son did all these horrible things. Why have you changed your mind from supporting him to wanting him to be punished?” Adrien's question had me whipping my head up.
As I hadn’t expected, he would have asked that. A part of me hoped it was cause he wanted to save me. A significant part of me knew it couldn’t ever happen, as Adrien hated my guts.
“At that time, I didn’t know he was such a horrible person.” My father answered. However, his tone didn’t sound convincing.
“And what made you discover the truth?”
“It doesn’t matter. What matters is that I found out the truth. And he needs to be punished.”
Adrien grew quiet.
“Now, what would the verdict be passed on him?” My father asked his fellow elders.
And everyone said death by hanging.
They asked Adrien lastly.
“Oh. I do want Ray gone. But before that, we forget that Diane, his accomplice isn’t here with Ray.”
This caused a series of murmurs.
“I have my men looking for her.” My father chipped in.
Adrien turned to me.
His eyes were stone cold. And I couldn’t help but think there was a reason for it.
“Where is Diane?”
“I have no idea.” And truthfully, I didn’t. I had been too cut up trying to focus on my life even to understand where she could be.
“I need you to be honest. Where is Diane?”
“If I knew. Don’t you think I would be blabbing it off to you? I hate her as much as you do. She is why I ended up tied like a pig in front of all of you.” My tone was seethed with rage. So were my glares.
“We will find her. What matters is Ray’s death. Everyone agrees to kill him, right?”
My father asked. And the elders chorused yes.
It seemed my father was in so much eagerness to confirm my death. And that alone pissed me off.
I could have readily accepted their verdict of my death. But seeing my father sitting there and advocating for my death.
Made me boil in deep rage. I had a feeling the whiskey heightened it.
It was why I was making my next move.
“Before I’m shifted to death. I have one last thing to confess. About my father.”
This had everyone gasping.
“Rest assured, I will not confess it to you elders. Not when he has you under his jumbo. Adrien. Would you like to hear the darkest secrets about my father?”
Adrien gave me a skeptical look.
“He is deranged. No need to listen to him.” My father chipped off defensively.
“You saying that makes me want to listen to him,” Adrien says.
And I could see the fear appear on my father’s face. And it pleased me immensely.
Adrien turned to me.
“You better have something useful to say. And rest assured that whatever you say won’t change the judgment on your life.”
I smirked. “I would die a happy death knowing my father is in turmoil.” My tone was filled with so much hatred.
Adrien nodded. Then, he dismissed all the elders from the meeting hall.
Including my fearful father. The jokes were on him. For thinking he could hurt me without getting hurt, too.
