Diane POV
I watched as kiela slept in the motel bed.
It felt quite relaxing and peaceful to just watch her sleep.
I had been so happy to see her, and more happier when she was willing to follow me.
My mind drifted to our previous conversations in the car.
“Mama. Why haven’t you come for me all this while?”
“I’m sorry baby, I was busy. But I’m here now. And I’m never leaving you.”
It had caused a smile on her face.
“I know you love me. Dad had made it seem like you didn’t. Like you were just a bad person.”
“Really? What did your father say?”
“He said you were bad and tried hurting Ms Esmeralda and her children. Is that true?” Her voice had held skepticism and doubts.
“Of course not sweetheart. If I was would I have come back for you?”
A large smile had appeared on her face.
“No mama. Thank you. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
After that she hadn’t asked any more questions. I didn’t know if it was cause she was tired, scared or confused.
But I was thankful that she didn’t.
I had just lodged both of us in a motel, got her to eat something. And then tucked her into bed.
She looked quite satisfied about it.
Now sitting on the bed. And watching her sleep. I realized that the only time I had ever felt true happiness and peace.
Was in her presence. The only time I didn’t feel like such a terrible person. Was in her presence.
She indeed meant so much to me.
I leaned down to kiss her on her forehead. She stirred up in her sleep.
My eyes scanned the motel room, it was a very shabby compared to the ones I stayed in previously.
And that was cause it was what my money could afford.
I had tried getting money. But I couldn’t. I was only able to steal some funds and a car.
Which I had used to take her in, I had dumped the car in the middle of the sea.
After lodging us into the motel.
It was so the car wouldn’t be discovered, and my cover wouldn’t be blown.
Maybe tomorrow I would still try to see if I can steal some money.
It’s not like I couldn’t rob a bank. But I was trying to stay very discreet, as I was very hated.By Adrien, Esmeralda, and ray.
If I get discovered, there would be no mercy for me.
It was why I had to be smart, especially now that I had kiela with me.
More worry set in me at the thought. How was I going to be able to escape the people who were after me, and still protect and feed her.
It seemed like quiet a hassle. I really hadn’t thought this through. What if ray decides to get funny and sends his assassin to me?
What if they kill kiela!
I froze up… no way would I let that happen.
Kiela was the only person who made this life bearable.
No way would I let any harm come to her. She is my life. And I am very selfish when it comes to protecting my life.
I just have to find a way around it, probably the best thing would have been to leave her with Adrien and Esmeralda.
She had food, shelter and protection. Something I couldn’t give to her..
However I was missing her… and I was scared that I would die from all the troubles in my life, and never be able to see her again.
I sighed. As more worry set in.
Maybe I could call ray, I know he hated Me. But he seemed to genuinely care about Kiela.
After all she’s his daughter. So he would want her to be able to feed, and maybe he would not come after me cause of her…
Seems like a good idea.
I took the burner phone that I had pickpocketed.
Thankfully I had learnt to master ray’s number, during my time of escaping from him.
I did it, so I could always recognize his number and avoid his calls.
I dialed the number on the burner phone and called him.
However I got no response.
I tried it the second time, the third time, and even the fourth.
Still no response.
I was about trying it again, when the telephone fax located on the bedside rang.
It was the motel call line.
So I wondered why they would be calling in this late.
I picked it up.
“Am I speaking to Mrs Kelly Armstrong?” The hotel receptionist asked.
Kelly Armstrong was the fake id name I used to lodge into the motel. So I wouldn’t be found.
“Yes.”
“You have a visitor at the down floor, says the name is Lunari.” She said.
This had me feeling confused.
“W-what?”
“Lunari. Is the name of the person that wishes to speak with you.”
“Yes I heard you. But who the hell is that?”
“I was told not to mention, but that you are to meet at the down floor.”
“Well no way in hell am I going to meet up
With a weirdo, and keep in mind I am telling your manager about this.”
I was about to cut the call.
“Flash-drive.”
The word stopped me.
“What?”
“The flash drive of secrets. Lunari has it. And would like to tell you how it was taken away from you.”
I froze up In shock. Was this some sort of prank?
Who the hell is this Lunari? Was it ray? Or Adrien? Who would probably be trying to get me to come down so they can kill me?
No. That didn’t sound right, Adrien wouldn’t go through this hassle. He would just barge right in like he did the last time.
Ray would just send his men shooting around till I’m dead. No way would they try to play such tricks.
Beside if they indeed found the flash drive, they wouldn’t even bother with me. If Adrien got it, he would be too busy trying to use it to bring ray. And if ray got it, he would be busy too.
“Did you say the down floor?”
“Yes. The snack bar to be precise.”
I bit my lower lips. It wouldn’t hurt to find out.
“I’ll be there in a minute.”
I cut the call.
Then I took my knife. Which I could use to defend myself, Incase of any harm.
I walked out of the room. To the down floor, and to the snack bar which was located on the entrance of the motel.
The snack bar was looking tattered and I’m ruins. The only good thing about it was the two stool next to the bar.
Which a lady was already occupying.
A human lady. With a warm smile and pretty face.
I was sure that this couldn’t be the Lunari.
And so I was about going to meet the receptionist of the motel. When she called out my name
“Diane.” I froze up in shock.
Turning back to her.
“Uhm. How do you know my name?”
“I know lots of things. And your name isn’t the special thing. Have a seat let’s talk.”
This can’t be the-
“Are you the Lunari who called me down here?”
“The one and only. Have a sweet darling.”
I gave her a once look. She was a very tiny woman, small frame. Small height. She couldn’t be the one with the flash drive.
How would she manage to steal a weaponry of such? And had managed to hide it till now?
It didn’t add up. Maybe she wasn’t with it. Maybe she was bluffing..
But one thing was certain she knew stuff. And I would like to know how.
And so I sat on the stool.
“How is your daughter kiela, it must be quite nice to have her close to you once again.”
That gave me the creeps.
“What do you want? Who are you? How do you know me and my daughter?”
“So many questions. Chill down darling.”
“Don’t tell me to chill. Start talking or I shall
Drive my hands through your throat.” I threatened venomously.
She smirked. Her eyes filled with amusement. And Not a single ounce of fear.
“Oh don’t go all wolf on me girl. It wouldn’t do you any good.”
I squinted my eyes in confusion.
She nodded her head pointing to the four edge of the room.
Where men armed with guns and weapons stood. They were all humans. But the scary types.
“And I’ll have you know that they are all
Filled with silver bullet. Just one strike
And you are dead. I know you wouldn’t want that. It would just be too traumatizing for dear poor kiela.”
This had me swallowing hard. And I could feel my fear balling up. I squeezed my hands to control them.
Trying not to show her how intimated I was by the fact she just shared. Except I was failing miserably at it.
“I like the look of fear in your eyes. It makes me think that we shall be good partners.”
I squinted my eyes in confusion.
“Partners?”
“Yes darling. Your dear boyfriend, well I can’t call him your boyfriend since he hates your guts. But he dared crossed me, and I am very pissed at that.”
Ray surely was a fool for doing so.
“And how does that correlate with me?”
“Well you are more of a revenge move against him. But more than that I see a potential evil in you. And I want to teach you how to harness it.”
She had a sick smile on her face. Like she was proud of what she had just said.
