EVE’S POV

I stood in front of the mansion, reliving every memory that I had created there. The fights with Lunaris and times when everything seemed perfect. I had hoped things would stay that way, but I figured it was probably best to let things be, I strongly believed that if Lu and I were meant for each other, then fate would find a way to bring us back together. I saw Kat and Kara approach me and I quickly wiped the tears that had formed in my eyes before they got to wher I was standing. Kat crossed her arms on her chest and Kara tilted her head sideways before speaking.

“You really think you just hid the fact that you were crying from us?”

“At least I tried to, you guys have been really supportive and I think all I have done is complain about how things are, so moving forward I think I am going to lay everything off and just focus on what the future holds in store for me.”

“Okay Eve, you are starting to speak in parables and I am trying hard to understand you but you will be doing us a favor if you could speak in clear terms.”

“What I am trying to say Kara, is that maybe this is not where I need to be right now, I have built my last few months around Lunaris and I don’t think I can stop doing that, but I should try different ways to explore the world. I still have a lunatic on my throne and I need to get him off if I am going to make my father proud.”

“But how are we supposed to live our lives without you, you have been a major part of our lives and it’s almost impossible for us to separate you from being her friend and confidant. See how much change you’ve brought in the space of a few months Alpha Eve, I believe you can do a lot more. Just give it time with him and I am positive that things would go back to normal soon”

It felt good hearing Kath call me Alpha Eve again, it was just like when I arrived at the kingdom and every knowledge was still new to me.

“I am not planning to leave here and fall in love with someone else, I am simply just going to do useful things with my time instead of sitting and waiting around for someone who doesn’t remember the first thing around me. And I am not cutting you all off, I will only be away for a while.”

“And how long is a while?”

“Two years or as long as it takes for Lunaris to remember me. But best believe that if I am needed for anything , I will always make myself available for you guys.”

“But….” Kath was about to protest again when Kara nudged her with her elbow.

“You will always remain my sister in law Eve, I don’t care about how far away you will be ,and you can always reach out to us. You will forever have a family here.”

“Thanks Kara, but for now, I need to get that idiot off my throne, it’s time I start taking bold steps as alpha of my clan.”

“Go girl!!, I strongly believe you can do it. Are you going to talk to talk to Lunaris about this though?”

“At first i wasn’t going to, but I guess it’s the least he could do to repay me after all I have done for him. And afterwards we can go our separate ways like he wants.”

“You know he doesn’t know what he wants Eve”

“Oh please Kath, he stated it pretty clear, Havana will always the woman in his heart and that’s just fine, I guess I was delusional , thinking he would forget her because of me.”

“I am sure when he remembers you, he will come running back. But promise me one thing, that you will wait for him.”

“Like I have a choice, I obviously have to wait.”

“Thanks, and after you get your position as alpha, what do you plan to do next.”

“Get that advanced degree I have been stressing so much about, I will have enough time on my hands so maybe I could go about saving the world. And who knows, since I have a great witch like you, we could combine knowledge from science and the supernatural to fix some things if the need arises.”

“That’s a terrific idea, it’s a crazy one though, I mean an Alpha of a pack acting like she is just a regular student. Do you think you would be able to cope?”

“If I have coped with Everything in this kingdom including Zina’s madness Kara, I believe I can cope with anything love.”

“You are right about that, I mean I went from having a human girlfriend to having a supernatural vision finding witch and also carrying my sister in law child inside me, what could be more crazier?”

“Exactly, speaking of Zina, we are all just going to act like she has suddenly disappeared and won’t back to screw us over right?”

“We are not doing that Eve, Zack spoke to me about how Hyacintj has been focused on finding Zina, she barely leaves her room these days, she obviously finds a new type of solace in there and would rather starve than leave her work space.”

“And why would Hyacinth be so worried about Zina?, she will be the least affected if Zina were to show up.”

“That you are right about, maybe it’s ego, she probably can’t get over the fact that Zina was powerful enough to possess her especially if she was the one who tutored her. Or maybe she is just a concerned mother.”

“Trust me Kath,it’s the former and not the latter, Hyacinth has been my step mother for so long And I can freely tell you that she doesn’t know the first thing about being a concerned mother.”

“But what if she is changing?” I inquired, I still had not had the chance to thank Hyacinth after the ceremony but I strongly wanted to believe that she was changed. She did her best to revive me when I started coughing up blood during the ritual and I saw the shock and concern in her eyes even if she managed well enough to hide it.

“Let’s all pretend that Hyacinth is changed then. I don’t know about you guys, but I am tired of standing,this pregnancy feels very weighty and I could sit all day long if I am given the chance to do so.”

“ you are just lazy Kara, and you’ll blame everything on the helpless child you are carrying.”

“Kath, this child of yours is anything but helpless,do you know how much energy that is zapped out of my body daily?, and every single time I do something it is not comfortable with, I pay for my actions.”

“Aww, just think of it like you started your auntie duties early, it’s not a big deal.”

“Yeah it’s not, I should get Hyacinth to put the child back inside of you.”

I laughed and I realized I was going to miss the both of them having such petty arguments, leaving the kingdom was going to be that hardest decision I was going to ever make.

“Okay girls, we should get back inside, the sun is killing me and if Kara says she needs rest then she should get it Kath, it’s not even up for a debate especially since she is doing you a favour this big.”

“Thank you Eve” Kara said sticking out her tongue at Kath.

“And you shouldn’t use that child as an excuse all the time either, that is not cool okay?. I would leave to see Hyacinth now, don’t kill yourselves before your partners return.”

I scurried back into the mansion to Hycinth’s room and knocked countless times but I got no response. I opened the door and found her on the floor, legs folded in a yoga position and eyes closed. It looked like she was trying to focus on something and the candles in front of her flickered. I told a quick walk around the room and realized what Kath had said was true. The food on the table was untouched and her hair was up in a messy bun. I placed my hand of a tiny weird looking jar and was about to withdraw my hand when it fell to the floor.

The candles went off immediately and Hyacinth turned in my direction, I couldn’t tell if she was angry or unbothered.

“And there is why I asked that nobody should be allowed in my Space.”

“I am so sorry Hyacinth, I shouldn’t have stayed, I could come back. Is the jar important to you, maybe I could replace it.”

“It’s all good, I am already distracted anyway, so I guess I can spare you a little time. The jar was a gift from my first lover before the alpha, I wonder why I even kept it all these years, maybe it was time to finally let go. What brings you here?”

“I just wanted to thank you for agreeing to save Lunaris life, he wouldn’t be alive if you didn’t play a major role in carrying the rites well enough”

“It’s not much of a help if he doesn’t remember you now is it?”

“Yeah but that is really not your fault now is it?” She turned away like she was trying to avoid eye contact with me.

“What did you do Hyacinth?….”
