Diane POV

I glared at Adrien, and he kept mocking me about the outcome of Ray's and my relationship.

Who would have taught me the day would come when Ray would wish to kill me? So much for love. This was why I didn’t believe in fickle emotions as love.

It’s so unrealistic and unreliable.

“So where is Ray, though?” Adrien asked.

“I don’t have a clue.”

“So you just running away from him without knowing if he is close or far from you?”

“I know he is still in the country. And I know he wouldn’t be going to Spain with me.”

Adrien remained quiet as though he was contemplating something.

“There is no way that you are going to Spain. You’ve caused lots of trouble, and you should be punished for it.”

I scoffed. “What are you going to do? Take me to the police?”

“This isn’t human affairs. So, of course, we wouldn’t be settling this with the cops. We would be settling this with the elders and the people of the pack.”

I swallowed hard. Wolves tend to have a more brass way of punishment, and by brass, I mean stuff like death—torture, and even being burnt alive or buried alive.

“I didnt do anything wrong.”

“You cheated on me with my beta. And lied to me about being pregnant with my child. Then you tried to kill Esmeralda and my children, the ones I truly birthed.”

“You can’t prove it. Besides, you don’t know for sure if those brats or Esmeralda are yours.”

“Oh, they are mine. I have the DNA tests to prove it. I also have the DNA to prove Kiela is not my daughter. But Ray’s. That is the proof that you cheated on me.”

That would definitely mean the end for me, as though my life couldn’t get any worse. I have been running from Ray for weeks now. And I had become a thief and begged so that I could survive. A whole Luna of the biggest werewolf pack begging for alms to survive and living in the streets like a poor human.

“You do know that exposing me could also get Kiela in trouble?” I had to buy my way out of this: one way or the other.

“Oh. Trust me, it won’t. Kiela is safe. I may not have birthed her. But she will forever be my daughter. For I raised her, and I have been more of a parent to her than you ever will.”

“The elders would not accept that. They would demand that she be removed from your family.”

“Oh. I’m the alpha. They will have to listen to me, but rather than worrying about that, why don’t you worry about yourself? The elders sure are not going to be sweet in giving you your punishment?”

My inside was literally screaming in panic. But my face was squared in a hard glare.

“You may think that you have won. But let me remind you that the flash drive is still out there. And sooner than later, it’s going to be used against you.”

“I know. But right now, that should be the least of your worries.” He smirked. And I felt the urge to reach for his face and slap that sickening smirk off his face.

“Though another thing is that I can’t hand you over for your punishment without your beloved partner. He needs to share in the joy of suffering with you.”

“Well, good luck in finding him.”

“I believe I already have good luck. And that luck is you.”

I squared my eyes in confusion.

“You are going to help me find Ray.”

“No way I’m helping you find the one that wishes to kill me.”

“I also wish to kill you.”

“Yeah. You are too good. So you may have a change of heart. But he would actually do it, so no, I’m good.”

“You do not have a choice!”

“I do. And that choice is to leave. I don’t even know how I am to help find Ray?”

“All you have to do is stop running and let him find you. When he does, we shall take you both to receive your needed punishment.“

“Again. Not happening. I would never help you destroy me.”

“You do not have a choice. Besides, this whole thing is Ray’s fault or yours.., it doesn’t matter. What matters is that he tried to kill you. After the countless times he said he loved you. Wouldn’t you wish to get your vengeance on him?”

He made sense. I was already on my way to being doomed. Why do I have to go through it alone? Ray deserves to go through the doom I was about to enter.

Suppose he hadn’t been so bitter. Then, I’m sure I wouldn’t be here contemplating his ruin.

“Whatever. If I go down, I should at least go down hard.”

“What a sly.” Adrien's minion, who I believed his name was Logan, complimented me. I rolled my eyes in a sassy way.

“First, I’m going to have this place bugged. So I can monitor your movements,”

“Including this room?”

“Yes, you got a problem with it?”

“No, I don’t. Just don’t fret when you see me all naked on the camera.”

I said with a suggestive smile. Logan looked disgusted. While Adrien had his hands over his mouth. As though he was trying to stop himself from barfing.

I rolled my eyes.

Adrien turned to Logan. Get the men to get here and start working on the place.

He turned to me.

“I do hope you do not run away. Cause even if you do, I will sure to catch you, and it won’t be a month after. The same day you run is the day you shall die. The whole place would be covered discreetly with my men. And they will be watching you nonstop. One wrong move, and you are dead!”

This had me swallowing hard. I couldn’t believe the same Adrien who couldn’t live without me. He was the one who was so eager to kill me.

Some love indeed. Suppose I ever made it out of all these alive.

I sure was going to have him killed.

Adrien went out of the room after he got a call.

Leaving me with Logan. Who kept staring daggers at me?

I decided to see if my charms would work on him.

“I see the way you look at me. You do like my appearance, don’t you?”

“Oh. You got it all mixed up wrongly.”

“I do? That doesn’t seem like it to me. I know your male part is already hard. I can feel it erect for me.”

This had him laughing. “Gosh, you are so desperate. I wondered how you were able even to attract men with this desperation. Well, you never really have attracted men. Just lewd fools.”

Ouch! I felt insulted. “I attracted your so-called boss.”

“And that was cause, at a stage in his life, he was confused and was also a lewd jerk. However, when he did grow up, he had to become something more, and by then, he could finally see your true colors.”

“Seems like you know a whole lot. But I assure you that you don’t know the truth.”

“Oh. I do know the truth. Don’t try to play this off. I know what you are trying to do.”

Why the hell did he have to be so smart? Argh!

Maybe I should have stopped. But the whole idea of insulting me and rejecting me didn’t sit well with me.

It's funny how my entire existence was built based on rejection and insults. It was a story no one knew of. And maybe that's the reason why I turned out this way.

I stopped trying to tell people the story. Cause they felt like I was only trying to gain sympathy. Even though I wish to tell them something about myself.

Well, it’s probably for the best. Let the past be buried with the past.

“I give up then. I couldn’t get past trying to make you admit you liked Me. There’s no way you would even listen to helping me escape from here.”

“I’m glad that little fact was finally sticking in your head.”

There was another silence ensued.

“Just another question again,” I said. Breaking the silence. He groaned.

“Enough questions. Just keep your mouth shut.”

“All I’m trying to ask is if I can use the bathroom?”

“No, you can’t.“

“I could end up peeing myself!”

“That is your cross. Beside it’s your room. You are free to mess it up.”

I glared at him. And placed another mental note to kill him if I ever survived this.

Adrien came back into the room with some men. They began working to fix hidden cameras all over the room.

I was blindfolded during the process. So I wouldn’t know the location of the cameras. And then try to remove it.

When they were done, the men left. While Adrien came to remove the blindfold.

“Everything is in place.”

“Including your men?”

“Yes. They are set and in their position. You do not have to know where. They are in disguise. But all you have to know is that they are here and are watching you.”

“My perfect prison break.” The sarcastic note in her voice couldn’t go unnoticed.

“Yes, darling. Now we have to leave. It was awful catching up with you.” Adrien drawled. I could tell he was enjoying seeing me helpless.

I glared at him as he went away—he and his minion Logan.

Leaving me feeling disoriented, angry, and, above all, afraid.

This wasn’t how it was all supposed to go down.

However, the universe always loved to fuck with me.
