Chapter 164
George pov
I couldn't bear to watch any longer as Emma's spell consumed Vill. I knew I had to act fast, despite the risk. My eyes met Malachi's gaze, and I knew he was thinking the same thing.
I quickly slipped out of the prison, my heart racing with urgency. I made my way to a secure location and wrote a message to Adara, informing her of Vill's situation and the danger she was in.
"Prepare an ambush," I wrote. "Stay at the boundary. I'll try to get Vill out."
I sent the message, my mind racing with scenarios. I knew Adara would be ready, but I also knew that Malachi and Emma were powerful foes.
I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what was to come. I had to save Vill, no matter the cost.
I set out to gather my companions, now a diverse group of skilled warriors, each serving in different squads. As a captain, I had to find them quickly, before Malachi and Emma's plans unfolded further.
First, I headed to the archery squad, where I found Jasmin ,her bow and quiver at the ready. I nodded to her, and she followed me without a word.
Next, I made my way to the infantry squad, where I found Jake, his sword and shield at his side. He raised an eyebrow but fell in step beside me.
I continued to gather my team, finding Emily, the stealthy assassin, in the shadows; Michael, the fierce warrior, in the training grounds; and finally, Rachel, the skilled healer, in the medical tent.
With my companions assembled, we formed a formidable unit, ready to face whatever lay ahead. Our mission was clear: extract Vill from Malachi's clutches and bring her to safety.
We set out with urgency, our footsteps quiet and purposeful. The fate of Vill, and perhaps the entire realm, hung in the balance.
I stood before my companions, my eyes locking onto each of theirs. "Our mission is clear," I began, my voice low and urgent. "We must rescue Vill, the only clue to the Book of Revelation and the Sword of Truth."
Jasmine’s eyes narrowed. "What's the situation?"
"Malachi holds her captive, and we risk facing his thousand soldiers," I replied, my jaw clenched.
Jake's hand instinctively went to his sword hilt. "We'll need a solid plan."
"Agreed," I said. "We'll need to move swiftly and strike hard. Jasmine ,can you scout ahead and gather intel?"
Jasmine nodded, her eyes gleaming with excitement.
"l, Emily, Jasmin you'll provide backup and support. Jasmine you're with me on the front lines."
We shared a nod, our determination palpable. We knew the risks, but we also knew the stakes. The Book of Revelation and the Sword of Truth were too important to fall into Malachi's hands.
"Let's move out," I said, my voice firm. "We have a mission to complete, and time is against us.”
I gestured to my companions. "Don your knight's attire, we must blend in with Malachi's forces."
They nodded, quickly dressing in the armor and insignia of Malachi's knights. I led the way, my heart pounding in anticipation.
As we approached the prison, a messenger hastened towards me, his eyes wide with urgency. "Captain George, Lord Malachi has summoned you to the prison. He requests your presence immediately."
My mind raced with possibilities. Did Malachi suspect our plan? Or did he have another motive?
"Tell Lord Malachi I'm on my way," I replied, my voice steady.
The messenger nodded and sped off. I turned to my companions. "Change of plans. We'll need to be cautious. Let's move in, but stay alert for any signs of treachery."
We proceeded with caution, our armor clanking as we entered the prison. Malachi's guards eyed us warily, but our knight's attire and confident stride allowed us to pass unchallenged.
We approached the interrogation room, where Malachi awaited us. My heart raced with anticipation. What lay ahead?
I entered the interrogation room, my heart racing with anxiety. Malachi's eyes narrowed, his voice cold. "George, I summoned you. Why did you leave the prison?"
I hesitated, trying to come up with a plausible excuse. "I...I'm scared of magic, Lord Malachi. I didn't want to get in the way."
Malachi's expression turned skeptical, but he nodded. "Very well. Stay and watch, then. Emma, continue."
Emma's eyes gleamed with excitement as she resumed her spell. Vill's eyes met mine, pleading. She mouthed a single word: "Push."
I was confused, unsure what she meant. But then I realized - she wanted me to push Emma, to disrupt the spell and give Vill a chance to fight back.
My mind raced with indecision. If I intervened, I'd be going against Malachi's orders. But if I didn't, Vill would be at Emma's mercy.
I stood frozen, unsure what to do. Vill's eyes never left mine, urging me to act. But I couldn't bring myself to move, fearing the consequences.
