Episode 19: A Deal?
Ava.
"Do you see what I'm telling you about Caleb? He knows what he's doing! He knows his plan! We may not have an idea of what it is, but we have to be aware that whatever it is, it's not for good," Gwen said as I sat on the chair.
We were trying to have our lunch while having a discussion.
"At first, he was able to convince Alpha Dan to allow you to follow him, just him alone, out of this castle. And Dan agreed to that?" Gwen said to me, and I immediately interrupted.
"That's it! That's where my problem is right now because I don't know who to trust anymore. I begged Alpha Dan with my life, with tears in my eyes, just to let me see outside these walls so my son can receive a little sunlight, but he refused!"
"Then tell me how Caleb was able to convince him?" I said, looking frustrated.
Then I leaned forward a little, whispering to Gwen so that no one else could hear us.
"Gwen, this is the time I need you the most. Right now, I need you more than ever. There's something I want you to do for me," I said, and Gwen nodded continuously.
"Let me know whatever it is, and I'll try my best to do it for you perfectly," Gwen responded.
"Please, from now on, I need you to keep a continuous eye on Caleb and Alpha Dan. You'll be my second set of eyes," I whispered to her, but it seemed like I had given her a mission she probably couldn't do.
She looked at me with a doubting expression on her face and seemed hesitant to say yes.
"What's wrong?" I asked her as she sat up, sighing in relief, and began to toy with her food as if she was about to start eating.
"Ava, I've been doing everything for you, but I don't think this one is possible. Spying on the Alpha? You know what will happen to me if he ever finds out that I'm spying on him," Gwen responded, and I started to think about it. She's right.
But the truth is that I can't let anyone hurt her for any reason. "Gwen, you'll be fine, I promise. I can't let anyone hurt you. Nobody is going to harm you, whether you're caught or not!"
"You know the condition I'm in. I need you to do this for me so I can know the angles they're attacking from, please!" I begged, and Gwen scoffed and shrugged her shoulders.
"Alright, I will do this, but why are you keeping an eye on others and not the main suspect, Ariel?" Ava asked and then took a spoonful of her food as I folded my hands, ready to explain.
"Ariel is the prime suspect. In fact, she's not just a suspect, but she's the real enemy here, and I already have her in my black book. Just watch and see how our drama unfolds," I said as I picked up the cup of juice from my table and took a sip.
"But what about Caleb and Dan? Are they not potential suspects too?" Ava asked me, sounding confused because I didn't understand what she was trying to prove.
That I should make up my mind that Caleb and Alpha Dan are my enemies when I have no concrete evidence?
Although Caleb was my enemy, he has already gone on his knees, begging for mercy.
"Come on, we have no strong evidence against both of them. Alpha Dan shows me continuous kindness, love, and always does whatever I want," I said as I took my own spoon and began to eat.
"And Caleb has begged and is still begging for me to find a way to forgive him. So how can you say that they should be prime suspects too without any evidence?" I asked her, but she failed to respond.
But I know she's probably out of words or it means that I am right with what I'm saying.
"Please, just make sure you keep an eye on these two, okay?" I said, and Gwen nodded at me.
"Yes, my lady," she responded.
•CALEB•
So I was at the arena, which was built inside the castle of wolf heaven.
I was there with the other boys, arranging it, as it was beautifully made.
In fact, everything inside this castle of wolf heaven is always beautiful; it's truly a heaven.
Though I came here with the boys as ordered by Alpha Dan to come and clean it up, as we will be having werewolf conbact during the next full moons.
And according to those who have been here before, it was said that there are always combats at this arena during every full moon celebration.
So it's happening again this month, and that is why we are cleaning the seats, as we will have visitors, including Alpha werewolves.
Some usually come with their families to witness the combat.
Though the top was open and not covered, it was made for the moon to shine its light into the arena during the battle.
And the battle starts once the moon is at the middle of the arena.
However, as I was looking after the omegas who were cleaning the seats, I noticed that someone was coming behind me. I looked back and discovered that it was Ariel.
Then I turned and stood boldly, looking at her. Dred, who was a little far away, gazed at me, noticing that something was wrong.
He's the only one who has that idea. I have already told him to keep his mouth shut and not tell Dan anything.
"Wow, wow, wow, look who I found here! So you are so weak that you ran to this place for protection?" Ariel asked with a mocking smile as she approached and stood behind me, looking at the omegas as well.
"So you? are you here to destroy the wolf heaven pack the way you destroyed my pack?" I asked her, and she smiled at me, shaking her head as she always does.
That's one of the most dangerous things about her. You just can't figure out where she's attacking from because she always uses smile to cover it up.
"Of course not, I was only here to be with my true mate, Alpha Dan," she responded. I looked away from her, facing the workers.
"How can I ever trust a single word from you again?" I asked, while she shook her head and gazed at me, this time with a serious look on her face.
"You don't have to trust a single word from me, but trust all because none of my words go in vain," she responded before taking a small breath of air.
"I know it must have been a very heartwarming moment for you when you stepped into this place and saw your kid and Ava," she asked, leaving me nodding at her.
"Yes, I was very happy, and I was especially happy because you failed. You failed to kill them, which would have made me a vengeance hunter by now if they were dead," I said to her as she smiled and licked her lips, then scratched her head a little bit.
"And you forgot that they are in my arms now. I could end both of them within the blink of an eye. Now, they even have my mate," Ariel said, and I looked at her in the face.
"Then do it and watch me kill you with both my hands right in front of Alpha Dan as the honor of killing you!" I responded to her with a deep voice.
"That's not why I'm here. I'm here to negotiate with you, Caleb! I know you love them, and you want them back in your life," she said while I continued looking at her silently.
"Don't act like you're okay when you're not! You're not happy about Alpha Dan calling your baby his son and your mate his mate! I can help you get out of here with them so I can be with Alpha Dan. Do we have a deal here?" she requested.
