84. Just Torin
Torin’s pov

I ran, following Enya’s direction and the scent of my mate. My werewolf mate…

Who would have thought?

It was crazy; we had no time to really come to terms with it all. Going from one extreme to the next. Our very first time together ended in Raelyn blacking out and then soon turned into her very first shift.

I wish I could have told Raelyn more. I wish I was there to explain what it’s like to feel your wolf. What senses might enhance… I could have explained how she might feel more anger or lust or anything animalistic.

The urge to mate, the urge to kill, to hunt, or to protect your loved ones. A lot of it comes from my wolf.

It’s like a push.

The same push is now sending me to be with my mate. This need to be close to her is even stronger than it was before I marked her.

I need to make sure she’s okay. But honestly, it's more than that. I need her comfort. I need her close, because nothing makes sense right now.

I scoffed internally. It’s funny how I have been so focused on her and now… I’m the one who’s lost. I’m the one who is not sure what my identity is.

I’ve always known I would be an alpha one day. And now… I’m just Torin.

It felt right at the time. And I guess it still feels like I made the right decision. There was no bloodshed; my pack got what they wanted, and Felix didn’t get to claim my pack.

There’s a weight lifted off my shoulders, but there is a lot of uncertainty now. Choices that I never had. Decision I never had to make.

I saw the hotel from across the trees. I had to shift back. It was already daylight, and I couldn’t cross the road as a wolf. But crossing the street naked wasn’t ideal either.

Thankfully, Colton hadn’t thrown us out of the pack entirely. We left, but we were still connected. So I was still able to mindlink everyone that belonged to the Midnight Moon pack, including my mom and sister.

Maybe in time he would be forced to sever our link, but we’d cross that bridge when we get there.

Enya came out of the hotel, took a quick look around, and brought me a pair of pants.

“Thank the Goddess she brought your pants with her, because otherwise you’d be wearing some of Willow’s clothing.” Enya said.

“How is everyone?”

“Angry, confused, I don’t know. Mom is sad… Or well, she’s quiet and annoyed by Willow a lot. Raelyn seems, um... different?”

“You mean her wolf?” I said with a smile as I quickly pulled my pants on.

We walked together to the small motel. I didn’t think Felix would come after me instantly, but I couldn’t be certain. I have a ton of people I can hire to track someone. Or follow them around, like I did with Dylan.

So who is to say what Felix will do?

He might not have all of my funds, but he does know how to hold a grudge.

Just ask any of his enemies. Oh, you can’t, because they’re all dead.

I might keep that to myself, though. Don’t want to scare everyone right away.

I opened the door, and Raelyn came running towards me, giving me a tight hug. “You’re okay. Are you okay?”

“I’m okay.”

Mom smiled at me, “so fill us in.”

I explained what had happened as best as I could, which wasn’t easy with Enya’s growling and tantrums in between. She was pissed off!

“I’m sorry, Tor.” Raelyn said. “I know you’re a great alpha.”

I shrugged, “it is what it is.” I turned to Willow, “so, I guess you can head back. I’m pretty sure Felix isn’t out to get you, and even if he is, Colton will protect you.”

“Won’t he protect us?” Enya asked angrily.

“Colton is on our side, En, but he needs to focus on leading the pack, and if we stay there, we’ll make it harder for him to do so. But the pack still needs to be hidden, so they won’t have a problem with Willow.”

Willow coughed, and everyone turned to her, “yeah, um, so, I’m not going back.”

“What?”

She looked at Raelyn, “I’m following the special wolf here. That’s way more exciting than doing some spell work from time to time. I’ll send one of my sisters over there. She needs a break anyway.” Willow tutted, “do you know how boring pack life is? And I’ve already met every eligible bachelor around there. I want to go on an adventure, you know. Do some actual magic. Get into some trouble.”

“What?” I had no clue what she was talking about.

Willow sighed, “we’re going to find some answers… regarding Raelyn’s heritage. Her wolf said to go North, so we’re heading North.”

“My wolf?” Raelyn said surprised. “Was that her speaking? I thought it felt weird.”

“SHE CAN SPEAK?” Mom, Enya and I all said at the same time.

Raelyn didn’t reply right away. Instead, she looked like she was mindlinking someone, which is impossible. But apparently she was speaking to her wolf.

Her wolf!
