Chapter 73 One Night

Chapter 73 One Night
Selene couldn’t sleep.
She tried. She really did.

But her mind was a battlefield, spinning between two Alphas.

Kael’s cold dominance, his golden eyes that seemed to see right through her.

Riven’s warmth, the way his green eyes lingered on her like he wanted to protect her even from herself.

She had thought three weeks was long enough to breathe, to pull herself together.

But the truth was—she needed them. She wanted them. She wanted them both.

She hated that she did.

The moon hung low, full enough to spill silver over her apartment balcony.

She slipped out quietly, careful not to wake Dr. Elena, who was already snoring softly in the next room.

Night air hit her skin, cool and real. She inhaled sharply, letting the scent of the city mix with her wolf. Her heart raced.

Kael was waiting.
Not outside her door, not looming in the shadows.

Waiting, like he always did, in the places she could never resist. In the part of her that wanted fire, wanted heat, wanted danger wrapped around longing.

“Selene.” His voice was low, deep, gravelly. Calm, but dangerous.

She felt her body respond before her brain could. Desire wrapped her in coils, tight and electric.

Her wolf growled softly, urging, demanding.

“You shouldn’t have come,” she whispered.

“You shouldn’t have stayed away,” he countered. His hand brushed her arm, just barely.

She shivered. His touch always did this to her—calm and storm at the same time.

She wanted to pull back, but she didn’t. Not fully. Not tonight.

Kael’s golden eyes scanned her, cautious, calculating, but they burned with hunger too.

He stepped closer, pressing the air between them, shrinking the space she had left to breathe. “Do you want me here?” he asked. Not a tease. Not a question really. A demand.

“Yes,” she admitted.

His lips brushed hers—soft, testing, just a touch. Then he pulled back slightly, watching her face. “You’re trembling,” he noted.

“I’m cold,” she lied.

He didn’t believe her. Never did. Kael reached out and tucked a strand of her dark hair behind her ear. His fingers lingered on her cheek.

Tender. Dangerous. Entirely him.

“You are mine,” he said quietly. Not possessive. Not cruel. Just true.

“I’m not yours,” she whispered. But her words sounded weak even to her own ears. She felt him pressing closer, felt heat pooling low in her stomach.

Kael didn’t answer. He just leaned in again. Lips met lips, slow this time, testing, tasting, claiming.

She melted against him. Let herself feel the fire, the pull, the undeniable need. Her hands found his chest, fingers digging in slightly.

She wanted more. She wanted all of him.

Her wolf purred, desperate, wild.

Then she felt it—the other presence. Riven. She stiffened, heart hammering.

Kael felt it too. His golden eyes flicked to the shadows.

His jaw clenched, but his lips didn’t leave hers. The kiss deepened, demanding, making her cry out softly into his mouth. Desire and frustration tangled inside her.

Riven stepped into the balcony light. Green eyes blazing, jaw tight. He saw the kiss, the heat, the way her body pressed against Kael.

His wolf growled. So did hers.

“You’re… messing with me,” he said. Calm, controlled, but his voice shook just slightly.

Kael broke the kiss, eyes flashing gold. “She’s not yours,” he said.

“She’s mine too,” Riven replied, stepping closer.

Selene’s chest tightened. She wanted both. She wanted the warmth, the protection, the fire, the dominance. She wanted them to fight for her.

She wanted them to burn over her, to melt over her, to claim her. And she hated herself for it.

“You’re insane,” she whispered. “Both of you.”
They ignored her.

Kael’s hand found her wrist, gripping gently but firmly. Riven’s hand slid to her waist, pressing softly. Two fires. One woman. One body. Her heart hammered, trying to keep up.

“Selene,” Kael said softly. “Look at me.”

She did. Golden eyes, intense, demanding. He wanted her to choose, even if he knew she couldn’t.

“Look at me,” Riven said too, green eyes soft but burning. Warmth and need wrapped around her like a second skin.

Her breath hitched. She wanted both. Her wolf wanted both. And yet… she knew she could only give herself fully to one, eventually.

Kael leaned closer again. “Stop thinking,” he whispered. “Feel it.”

She shivered. Heat pooled between her legs, curling low and tight. Her body ached.

She pressed herself into him slightly, just a fraction.

Riven’s thumb brushed against her hip. “You don’t have to decide tonight,” he murmured.

“But you can’t deny what you feel either.”

Her lips parted. Her breath came fast. She was trapped between two storms, and she didn’t want to escape.

Kael kissed her again. Harder this time, urgent, demanding. Her hands tangled in his dark hair, pulling him closer.

She pressed against him, letting the heat consume her, forgetting the world, forgetting reason, forgetting everything except fire.

Then Riven’s lips were on her neck, soft, teasing, hot. She gasped, body convulsing.

Desire and frustration collided. She wanted them both. Every nerve screamed it. Every inch of her wanted both Alphas wrapped around her.

“Selene,” Riven whispered. “God, I want you.”

She moaned softly. Heat flared, desire sharp and raw. Her mind reeled, heart pounding, wolf wild and needing.

Kael’s hands roamed, possessive and tender, holding her to him. Riven’s lips left teasing trails along her collarbone, along her neck, lighting fires she couldn’t put out.

“You’re killing me,” Kael growled, gold eyes flashing.

“I know,” she whispered, breathless. “I don’t… I can’t…”

But she could. She could let herself burn, just for one night. One stolen night.

Just to feel what it was like to be wanted by both, to be needed, to be burned in fire and heat and lust.

They were both there. Two Alphas. Two fires. One woman, trembling, aching, caught between everything she had ever wanted and feared.

Her hands moved between them, tangling, pulling, claiming. She pressed her lips to Kael’s again, then tilted her head to Riven, letting him trail kisses down her shoulder, along her collarbone.

She moaned softly, heart hammering, wolf whining low in her chest.

“I… I don’t know how to…” she whispered, breaking for air.

Kael’s hand cupped her cheek. “You don’t have to know.”

Riven’s hands gripped her waist. “Just feel it.”
Her body burned. Her wolf roared. Desire, lust, jealousy, longing, and fear wrapped her like a living thing.

She felt them both pressing into her, both needing her, both claiming her in ways her heart hadn’t known existed.

The night stretched on. Moonlight, shadows, heat, and fire consumed them. Selene forgot time, forgot reason.

All she knew was the fire between them. She wanted to scream, to cry, to moan, to laugh. She wanted them both.

She wanted everything. And she hated herself for it.

Finally, they broke apart. Kael’s golden eyes darkened with unspoken warning.

Riven’s green eyes softened, worried, yet full of longing. She was trembling, breathless, heart racing.

She felt alive, consumed, and utterly torn.

“Selene…” Kael whispered. “This… what we feel… is not over.”

Riven nodded. “Not by a long shot.”

She wrapped her arms around herself, trying to calm the fire that still roared through her body.

“I… I can’t…”

“Yes, you can,” Kael murmured. “You just don’t want to.”

“You’re insane,” she said breathlessly. “All of you. All three of us.”

They smiled faintly, wickedly, because they knew. Because desire didn’t need reason.
Because fire didn’t care about logic.

One night. One stolen night. One moment where everything burned and nothing made sense.

And Selene knew… the choice wasn’t over. It was only beginning.
