Birth of A God
The clouds have gathered hiding the brightness of the sun behind their backs. The sky mourns, rain waiting to be let free. The harsh wind rattles the windows pushing the trees to dance to its song. It isn't a day that encourages me to birth rather run and hide.
My eyes heavy with sleep unable to open wide I shift in the darkness moaning with uncomfortableness and pain. My belly big enough for my pup to rip through my flesh. Palm out tapping the mattress sliding back and forth over the softness searching for my male only to be met with cold sheets.
Frowning I peep at the clock. Early morning? Where has he gone so early? With a heavy sigh willing myself that I can do this I prepare myself for my morning rituals. Breathing has become quite harder for me. A feeling that something is lodged between the bones of my ribcage unable to accommodate my beating heart.
Deep slow painful contractions have been taking a hold of me for the past few days. It comes and goes as if I were in heat. During those days I tended to take warm showers or go for a walk on the open fields doing my best to breathe through my contractions.
Taking small steps keeping my pace slow my palm resting upon the white walls I head to the bathroom ready to empty my overflowing uterus. The amount of times I urinate in a day is quite surprising to say.
Deimos has been leaving our bed early these days. He is up before the sun rises. I do not understand what is so important that he cannot spend even a few hours in bed until I awaken. What has he been up to lately? He seems to be in his world often in drowning thoughts where I must call him several times to gain his attention.
Perhaps work has been consuming him too much making him unstable to even take a breather. I have been taking care of myself these mornings with my male being extremely busy, I tend to myself. I understand that the duties of being in a high position of authority beckon him and I am not weak to often seek someone's aid.
With a heavy push gathering up all my energy I stand up flushing the toilet whilst taking deep breaths. It has been exactly nine months and the time has arrived for my birth. The healer confirmed it would be one of the following days.
At first, my heart pounded with excitement and happiness but now I am more fearful of what is to come. I had heard of the pain one possesses when you deliver, your vaginal hole tears open on both sides to accommodate the head of the baby and several other complications and mishaps could happen.
I talked about my fears to the older females of the pack but they were quick to ease them saying yes the pain is horrible but what comes after cannot be described or put into words. They did not go in-depth in terms of the entire process for I did not need them to. I had helped birth several pups of my females and I know how it works.
But being a new mother and experiencing it for yourself is quite different. However the fact that my male would be there holding my hand the entire time gives me all the strength and encouragement I need.
Stepping into the warm bath immerging my body into the depths of the tub has me sighing with happiness. The water wraps itself around me relaxing the sore muscles of my flesh. I am in paradise. Taking a soft sponge I scrub my body off the dirt that hangs to my skin.
Cupping some water into my hands I pour it gently over my swollen belly letting it slide down my flesh. My pup likes this for the first time I had done this I had been gifted with a slight kick. Leaning my head back calming myself I close my eyes the steam soothing my skin.
I stay still until the steam dies, bubbles burst and the water grows colder. I kind of like these quiet mornings, a day to myself for once I birth my pup I must return to my everyday duties as Luna and I would have no days as such. I guess I got used to being spoilt.
As I wrap the towel around my body, the bedroom door opens and a soft smile is quick to come to my face. "Lumina?" He questions. His voice is concerned, he finds it alarming when he walks in and I am nowhere to be found.
"In here." I say my voice booming through the walls, a direct path to him. He walks towards the bathroom peeping in searching for me.
A comb in my hand I brush through the knots that seem to be never-ending. "Looks like my female is up early." He whispers picking up my dirty clothes putting them into the laundry basket.
"I cannot sleep well these days. I have to be prepared for our pup can choose to say hello any moment." I chuckle struggling to untangle my hair. With a sigh, he takes hold of the comb from the bounds of my hands.
"Don't be so tough with your hair, Lumina. Be gentle." He whispers his fingertips sliding down the strands of my hair killing the knots with the movement. He knows his way with all sorts of things, his mother taught him quite well.
"Where did you go today, again? I looked for you. I hate getting up without you by my side. You know this." I whisper watching him through the mirror.
His jaw clenches the grip on the brush grows harder as if he is having a struggling war within himself. "Look at me." I demand my tone gentle persuading him to pay heed to my wish.
His eyes slowly move from my hair to meet mine in the mirror. His emeralds seem to be dying with stress the light no longer available to shine. I know this look. Frowning I shift my body turning around swiftly to face him.
"You are carrying a burden. What is it?" I question peering into his soul searching for his truth.
"It is nothing, my female." He whispers. A smile tries to spark on his face but it seems to me he has no energy to do so. His chest expands as he inhales almost as if it is painful for him to breathe.
"You can tell me, Deimos." My palms reach up to cup his face gently.
"Perhaps when the time is right." He utters. His emeralds peer down at me with a softness and I cannot help but take consideration of his words for he never hides anything from me. He always speaks the truth and tells me what is needed.
"All right. I will wait for you." I give him a curt nod of understanding and am greeted by a soft affectionate kiss to my right cheek.
Breakfast is consumed with a super speed my hunger surging to new heights. The healer told me to eat as much as possible to gain strength to deliver our pup. My eyes gaze upon the two empty seats in front of us.
Phobos and Theia had left hurriedly a few days ago as the weather gave way for travel. We said our final goodbyes at the gate whilst Theia left with a lingering glance at me. I felt as though she wished for my help however chose not to ask it.
I wince due to the sudden cramp at my lower stomach which immediately gets his attention. "What is it? Are you in pain?" He questions.
"The cramps are getting frequent. I think I will deliver our pup this weekend." I whisper wiping my mouth with the napkin. A smile lights up my face as my finger pokes into the side of my stomach wishing to wake up the little one who is so very eager to come out.
Deimos does not reply as he continues munching on his meal. At times there is this tension that rumbles under the surface between us. It has been happening a lot these days. However, I choose to ignore it for I know he is merely anxious about being a father.
The uncomfortableness of the cramps turns into sudden pain as time passes. With each hour there is a significant change in what I feel. Deimos has been away for the entire day since breakfast stuck within the bounds of his office with Ragon by his side. I have no idea what is going on but he isn't here when I need him to be.
"Alpha?" Elriam's concerned voice breaks through my thoughts. "Are you feeling all right?" She questions.
I breathe heavy but shaky. We are sitting near the table making crafts with the pups for them to play with but I cannot seem to even cut a piece of paper properly. I clench my eyes shut allowing the wave of throbbing pain to pass.
Taking a deep breath I meet her eyes. "The pup is not due until the end of this week which is six days from now. I don't understand." I whisper to myself.
"Alpha?" Elriam questions again her palm coming to rest on top of mine.
"I am all right. Let's continue." I reply with a nod finishing up with the crafts. Once we were done the pups lined up to receive it from us and ran out to play with them.
We spent many nights creating these to supply their demand. It was a custom to do this every new year in my pack and Deimos's wolves were quite surprised and eager to be a part of it as we did it for the first time.
"Which one would you like?" I ask the small pup who peers at all the colorful kites.
"The yellow one." He whispers wiping his snot with the back of his sleeve.
"Yellow it is." I nod with a smile reaching for the yellow kite hiding behind the others. The further I reach the more my uterus aches the intensity rising with speed.
I groan heavily hunching down unable to take in the sudden infliction upon my body. Peering down my eyes find a trail of pale fluid running down my thigh making a small pool upon the ground. "Elriam help him with his kite. I need to use the washroom." I walk as quickly as possible to the toilet.
Quickly shutting the door, lifting my dress squatting over the toilet seat has a heavy gut-wrenching moan strike through my lips. In a matter of seconds, a gush of water escapes my core. My heart pounds with anxiety.
The healer had told me to find her quickly if a case such as this happened. But all I can think is I need to find my male first. I need to inform him of this news. Our pup has chosen to arrive early as I thought so.
I begin to sweat my body feels heavier and the room spins. A sudden change of emotions and physical being has me overwhelmed. I don't know if I must celebrate or cry. Deimos. Deimos. His name is all I can think of. I need him.
Accepting my need my feet take me to where he is holed up in. The only barrier between us seems to be the stairs and the hallway leading to his office. My energy is quickly drained. Droplets of blood paint the floor and I drown with distress.
My mind does not think of how I could make him come to me rather how I must get to him. This has always been the case in our relationship. I take each step with an eerie slowness waiting until the pain subsides.
My fingers clutched around the railing providing me with comfort and strength to take the next step up. Each step upward seems like a level of pain I need to pass to acquire my final prize. It was testing me, my strength. My willpower.
Just a few more steps and I can reach him. Just a few more. I keep encouraging myself. At least I would have a good story to tell our pup about the beginning of its birth. As I take the last step I allow myself to catch my breath. A sign of victory.
My eyes find the office door to the left and with a curt nod, I thrust my body into the wall allowing it to carry my weight. The cramps get severe in their attacks and a small scream leaves my lips.
My right palm under my throbbing belly whilst my left hand is pushed against the wall aiding me to walk to him. I am almost there, I must tell him of the news. One that was expected but not encouraged. Early birth.
Even though my pup is willing to come forward by just a few days or weeks, it is still considered early. Every time a contraction strikes extending its claws ripping my inner flesh, I bend low with a shaky gasp and a painful breath. A low excruciating moan flies past my clenched jaw and chapped lips.
As the pain subsides after sixty seconds I fight to take my next step towards his office. I call to him through our bond yet he doesn't receive it mind blocked busy with something else. Where else does your attention need to be but by my side in this crucial stage?
As it is night time the wolves are busy with their preparations to rest for the halls are empty and no one can see me hunched over in the corner struggling to breathe doing my best to get to their Alpha. Clenching my jaw, I rush to his office enduring the uncomfortable feeling that is building up in the pit of my stomach. Time is not what I possess at this moment.
"I can do this!" Gritting my teeth eyes on fire with newfound determination I look straight. Just a few more steps and I will be at peace. My male will take care of the rest this I truly believe. The door of his office is shut close by I see the layer of light beneath the door.
My palm clutched around the handle I prepare to push it open but am caught off guard by mingled voices and scents. There are three wolves present, my male, Ragon, and another. A female. A new scent.
"The Luna shall birth the pup soon. I wish to keep this from her unless it is necessary." My male speaks his tone dominant and commanding. His order does not steer past me for I did not let it go unacknowledged.
"Yes, Alpha." The female replies to his wish. Keep what from me? A sudden spark of anger, my adrenaline rushing my disapproval of the situation shown in front of me, consuming me. My eyes throwing knives through the door I make my decision. He will answer me.
Quickly pushing down the handle kicking the door open with my feet I am greeted by the stunned eyes of the three wolves. My eyes meet hers first, scanning her from head to toe. She is not of our pack. She comes from somewhere else. The fact that this unknown female stands in this room next to my male ruffles my fur.
Deimos's eyes widen as he sees me. My hair sticking to my face as I sweat uncontrollably. Holding onto the door frame I struggle to stand straight looking at him with my fiery gaze. He scans me from head to toe and finally, a conclusion comes to the surface. His posture changes preparing himself to run to me just as I expected.
Ragon shifts as he watches surprised that I have arrived. Releasing his hands from his back he takes a breath eyes coming to the conclusion I am ready to deliver the future.
"Is it time, my female?" Deimos questions taking a quick step towards me prepared to take me to our room as we had planned a few weeks ago. It was agreed that I would birth our pup in our room.
Though my body and soul desperately need and demands the strength and support of my male, with a trembling hand I raise my palm. "Stop." One troubled word from me and he is quick to pay heed and stops mid-step.
"Alpha! Thank goddess I found you. I followed the trail of blood you left behind. It carried your scent." Elriam quickly pushes herself to my side hands around my waist carrying my drained body. She looks at Deimos frowning wondering as to why he is standing still whilst I am suffering.
My eyes go back to the female present as she watches calmly. Her eyes say she poses no threat towards me yet my soul says otherwise. She is not welcome here and I show it bluntly with a flash of fang. She immediately bows and drops her eyes to the floor not looking at me anymore.
"What did you wish to keep from me?" A frank question aimed for a direct kill no running in circles. No tiptoeing around. I struggle to stand my mind dizzy almost as if I am going to faint. Another contraction hits and a small painful scream leaves my lips.
Deimos allows a small burning whimper to leave his lips. He begs me through our bond to allow him to get to me. "Who is she?" Another question. He cannot meet my eyes and it finally hits me. Something is going to go wrong.
"Who are you?" I finally choose to ask the trembling female quivering in the middle of the room. "I will not ask again!" A command of an Alpha female screamed out for I am barely holding it all together.
Perhaps Deimos and Ragon could fly over my authority for it does not affect them but an ordinary female wouldn't be. She will have no choice but to answer. "I-I a-am Alpha Deimos's c-chosen." She stutters heavily but I understand the words she let out of her mouth.
A sharp intake of breath from Elriam has my heart stop. She knows the meaning of this. I shut my eyes close with quivering lips. "Lumina. Let us talk about this later. Let me help you, my female. Please." My male pleads to take a slow hidden step towards me.
I meet his eyes and I see it. My soul knows it. The meaning of all this shall burn my heart forever. I should leave this as it is and never return to this situation. I can run from this and pretend this never happened and burn my doubts and questions for it had the potential to destroy everything.
But I cannot do so. I am no coward. I will face the dragon by myself. I will fight this war for I am an Alpha! My mouth opens to ask only one simple question not aimed at the three but my Beta struggling to stand properly at my side. "What is a chosen? You have a minute." A command she cannot forego.
More blood begins to pool down where I stand the intensity of my pain enlarging with time. Time is against me. The windows rattle as a storm brews outside. Deimos cannot stand still pacing and I can feel the pain in his heart. He did not wish for this to happen.
Ragon looks at Elriam and shakes his head with pleading eyes telling her indirectly it is not the right time for me to hear of this. She looks at the ground and then back to me. I give her a curt nod pushing her to tell me.
"A chosen is another female chosen by the Alpha whom he will breed with if the Luna does not bear a male heir." She whispers by my side.
The first flash of thunder strikes. It does not just merely strike the earth but also my heart that seems to be at the edge of breaking.
"Such a tradition exists." I whisper a small whine from my wolf. She pretends everything is fine and well regardless of what she just heard. Such an innocent female she is.
The pain inflicted upon my soul is nothing compared to the one of my body. The only word that keeps running in my mind is breed. Realization dawns upon me and I meet my male's eyes with a swiftness. He would...he would have sex with her if the pup I deliver today is a female.
I take a step back and he takes a step forward. He knows of my realization for I can see the pain that grows in his shivering wet eyes. "Why?" Is all I can whimper out.
"This is just a measure, Lumina. I knew for sure you would have a male it has always been such for generations. My bloodline is such." He says flipping this off as if it is not a big deal but he knows it within him. That I would never agree to this. That this would cause misery that could never be healed.
"I am a firstborn female. What if my genes are what our pup acquired?" I question. My back is unbearable and I push myself into Elriam further.
My male is unable to answer my question so I probe further. "What if our pup is a female? Would you fuck your chosen for the chance to have a male? What kind of disgusting tradition is this?" I scream. Each word wishes to die in my lips yet I let them live to know the truth.
Deimos closes his eyes hands trembling body swaying, the truth shall always come to light for it is not meant to live in darkness. His fingers go to rub his throat as if he cannot breathe. As if something has its claws around him draining him of life.
My pup pushes my body to the brink and I cannot stand here and fight him no more. A war I choose to lose for the sake of the life inside me.
Head up spine straight clutching onto Elriam's arm for the support I look straight into Deimos's eyes. He shakes his head continuously as he understands what I am going to do. "Don't do this, my female. Please don't do this." He begs.
"Elriam." A painful scream from my mouth as I hold my stomach. The pain for my soul climbing above the physical one.
"Yes, Alpha." She straightens with me.
"Get me, my females. All of them!" I let her go so she can pay heed to my order and she immediately runs as fast as the storm raging outside. Leaning my body upon the wall my eyes sink to the beta in front of me witnessing the split of souls.
"Ragon. Come take your last command for my trust in you has died." I whisper mouth open taking in huge gulps of air to calm my sorrow. Ragon flinches to my words and looks at me as if he wishes to cry. My words have stung deep.
"Luna." A whisper from his lips.
"Carry me to any room in this hallway. I will birth my pup there, not in the disgusting bed I shared with your Alpha." Words painted with thorns fly out my mouth to attack the male who cannot seem to stand properly. His whole world is ending and he is the cause of it all.
Ragon strides quickly lifting my body with ease as he carries me out. The sounds of glass shattering, tables being turned over, chairs smashing and the female screaming in fear follow us through the hallway. Deimos is showing his rage on pieces of furniture whilst I die a little with every breath I take.
The beta opens the door to a random room and places me gently upon the bed. He opens his mouth as if he wishes to say something but an excruciating snarl towards him has him startle and take a step back. I do not wish to talk to him or the one who is supposed to be my other half.
As an agonizing scream of pain leaves my lips nails digging into the mattress tears streaming down my cheeks. The healer is the first to enter followed by my females. They pool in the room one by one eyes filled with worry and concern. Some overflowing with happiness for the future I shall deliver.
The healer pushes my dress above my thighs baring my lower torso. She nudges my opening with her finger sweeping it through the inside. "You are fully dilated. Your pup is coming." She whispers whilst the females prepare the towels and warm water.
His scent has my senses directed at him. His hands are bleeding with the wrath of his pain and anger. His cheeks are wet, hair messed up. Shirt torn, he comes as he is to me.
"Protect me. He will not take another step toward me." A sudden order for my astonished and confused females. They do not understand my instruction yet they listen with no hesitation.
They hold hands clutching each other forming an outward circle around my bed creating a dense barrier. More of my females pool in and follow with no questions asked. They battle with their unstable actions as they stand as one. Against their Alpha.
Deimos snarls his unspeakable fury fangs poking through his lips, claws out. His chest heaves with what I have done. "Lumina!" My name screamed with miserable rage from his lips fueled by warning of my action. But it does not scare me for my females will protect me with their lives.
I know it. He knows it. If he wishes to get to me, to touch me to be by my side as I deliver our pup, he would have to kill all the females present first. Mothers. Daughters. Mates. He would have to paint and stain the walls red with their blood.
"You will stand there and watch me birth your heir without you by my side, Deimos. The last of my mercy I can show you." I scream as the healer spreads my legs further. My core is tearing apart my uterus boiling with heat. My pup is coming.
My mate allows a deep thundering growl boom from within the depths of his chest the rumble of it shattering the glass of the windows. Rain starts to pour inside and the room turns icy cold. His eyes are as black as night showing the surge of his beast. Small whines are let out by his beast pleading with my wolf to allow them to witness the birth.
My soul hardens and burns in the fire whilst I bang my chest with my palm. Loud, deep gut-wrenching sobs are let loose by me. "Forgive me." I whisper to his beast for the gift I have taken from him. Something every father would remember until their last breath. The birth of their first pup.
"It is time, Luna. Push as hard as you can." The healer screams.
The sky weeps and my soul bleeds. But despite the deep sorrow of two mates who were always bound to separate, I know the moon is celebrating. She is celebrating *the birth of a God.*
