Chapter 26

"Shit," she cursed and paced back and forth around the tunnel. She looked at the ceiling and saw a little door.

"Keaton," she called him out of his thoughts. He was anxiously thinking of a solution.

"What is it?" he said, following her gaze to the little trap door in the ceiling.

"We can maybe go upstairs," she suggested. "But can you?" she asked, glancing at his buff body. She wasn't sure if he would fit.

"Are you seriously asking me that?" he said.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't." She rolled her eyes.

"I don't know the prison area, but this door should lead you somewhere else," he said, standing under it.

"You can fit in there," he said, holding his arms out. She nodded and jumped on his chest. He lifted her up to the ceiling, and she opened the door. She climbed up after much groaning and Keaton pushing her.

"What about you?" she asked him with her head out of the door frame.

"I will lie. Don't worry. I'm a professional liar." He winked and closed the trap door.

"Keaton Winston!" Cole's voice echoed in the cells. The prisoners kneeled when he walked.

"Hiya, Cole!" He waved happily.

"What are you doing here? I can smell Max's mate's scent here." He sniffed and narrowed his eyes at him.

"Oh, well, we played truth or dare, you know," he said, wiggling his eyebrows playfully.

"You shouldn't do that. Alpha Max will literally kill you." He glared at him. He was loyal to his best friend, obviously, and he wouldn't betray him.

"No worries, mate," he said in a British accent.

"Shut up," Cole replied.

"This tiny space is squeezing my body," Jayla groaned. She tried to take deep breaths to calm her anxiety.

"Breathe, Jayla," she said and continued to find a way to get out. She smiled when she found a door. She crawled over quickly and pushed the door open.

After many tries, she finally opened the door and jumped down to the ground. She closed the door and breathed deeply.

She turned her head and saw the beautiful night sky lighting up the woods. She closed her eyes and inhaled the fresh air.

"What are you doing here?" She jumped and moved away from the person.

"Who are you?" she asked.

"I'm sorry, Luna. I'm Dallas." He bowed, much to her discomfort.

"Hey, Dallas," she said nervously.

"Alpha Max was searching for you," he said sternly. "He was wondering where you were," he continued.

She mumbled, "I was here."

"Alpha wants you back," he said and then left her.

She glanced back at the door she came out of, and suddenly, a brilliant idea popped into her head.

"I think this should work," she thought and skipped happily toward the packhouse.

Ten minutes later, she reached the packhouse and walked upstairs to see Max. She was about to open the door, but she waited behind the door, eavesdropping.

"Max, you should tell her."

"I can't tell her now!" she heard her mate exclaiming and another voice talking.

Maybe they were talking about her?

"It will be too late for you."

"I don't care. I can't be—"

"Jayla, what the heck are you doing?" Cole asked harshly. She turned her head and saw Keaton standing next to Cole, smiling sheepishly.

"I'm waiting for him to finish his business." She gulped.

"Can you step out of the way, please?" he asked, and she moved to let him go inside the office. Keaton stood beside her.

"Do you think—"

"Shut up, Jayla. They can hear us," he hissed quietly.

She almost forgot about their listening ability.

"You guys, come in," Max said, referring to Jayla and Keaton. They walked into the room, and Max smiled at Jayla. His mate standing right in front of him made him feel happy and relaxed.

"Baby, what were you doing out so late?" he asked softly, beckoning her to come closer. She strolled toward him and sat on the chair.

"I wanted to get some fresh air," she lied without stuttering or looking nervous. She hoped that he wouldn't use his superpower to detect her lie.

"You shouldn't be out so late without someone. Next time, I will accompany you," he said, tilting his head lightly.

She hummed in response and glanced back at Cole and Keaton.

"Right, what did you want to tell me, Cole?" Max cleared his throat and looked at him.

"Jayla and Keaton went to the pack prison as a dare," Cole blurted out the truth while looking serious.

Jayla didn't like him or respect him now that he had snitched. She glared at him, angry.

"Jay, is it true?" Max asked with narrowed eyes.

"Yes."

"Get out," he ordered them. Jayla stood up, but she stopped when she heard his voice.

"Not you."

She sighed and sat down in the chair. The door closed, and silence filled the room. The tension was thick.

"What the fuck, Jay?"

"It was a dare," she said, defending herself.

"You know very well that I can detect any lies. However, I don't want to do that because I trust you," he said calmly, making her want to tell him everything.

But she couldn't.

She couldn't betray her people.

"I know. I'm telling the truth." She nodded with a tight smile.

She didn't want to lie. She didn't want to betray his trust. But how could she tell him that she felt safe with rogues? He hated rogues.

"Let's go to our room," he said, standing up and picking up his coat.

Her eyes widened as she remembered her prank with Gio and Peyton.

"Can I sleep in the guest room?" she suggested. He turned his head toward her with a glare.

"No, that's not even an option," he spat and grabbed her under the arm. He locked the door of his office and dragged her to his room.

"Bro, chill," she huffed and rolled her eyes. He growled in response and took out his key to open the door of his room.

Jayla giggled quietly and stood behind him. He struggled to take out the right key.

"Why are there so many keys?" he grumbled, trying the find the key to open his room.

"Found it." He took out the key, opened the door, and there was Jayla's masterpiece.

"What the fuck is this ugly shit?" he shouted. His voice was so loud that everyone could hear.

The warriors came, looking alarmed, but then relaxed when they saw there weren't rogues around.

"They hate rogues, I guess," she thought with a smile.

"Jayla!" he said, turning slowly towards her.

"Yeah?" she said casually while picking at her nails.

"Don't fucking answer me like that!" he snapped and glared at the warriors. Their eyes widened, and they ran away from him.

He pulled her into the room.

"What is this?" He pointed at the room. There was confetti everywhere, paint on his white wall, and his bed was destroyed.

"That's a room," she replied quietly.

"Yeah, that's a fucking room! What the hell did you do to my room? I know you wanted revenge, but this? How would you feel if someone pulled the same trick on you? You even destroyed my favorite bed. That's really bad!" he scolded her. Since he was speaking so fast, Jayla couldn't retain everything he said.

"What?"

"Didn't you hear me?" he asked after a long silence.

She didn't want to reply to him since he looked so scary.

"So stupid! I can't believe you." He sneered and took out some clothes.

She couldn't help but laugh at his insult.

"Stop laughing! Be thankful that you are my mate," he warned and rolled his eyes.

"So, where are you going to sleep?" she mocked.

"We are going to sleep in another room until my room is fixed," he snarled.

"That will teach you not to play with me," she said innocently. He glared at her and scoffed.

"Shut the fuck up! You need to be punished," he threatened with a dark smirk.

"What do you mean?" She gaped at him. He smirked and grabbed her under the arm. He used his wolf power to run fast to the guest room and threw her lightly on the bed. He locked the door of the guest room.

"No running away, mate," he said darkly, putting the key in his back pocket.

"What are you going to do?" she asked with a smile. He smirked, knowing what she wanted.

She was horny. He could feel her arousal.

He growled and pounced on the bed. He started with her face, smashing his lips against hers. He picked her up in his lap to deepen the kiss.

He let go of her mouth and pushed her onto the bed, attacking her neck. She moaned quietly and tugged his messy hair. She arched her back as he sucked the spot harder.

"I'm going to mark you while fucking you," he said seductively against her skin and unbuttoned her shirt.

He unclasped her bra, letting her breasts loose. He gasped with admiration.

"You are fucking beautiful, baby," he said intensely, staring right into her eyes. She blushed and looked away from him.

"Don't look away from me." He chuckled and kissed her again.

She moaned while he was playing with her nipple.

"This is fun," he said. He pinched her and looked at her with amusement. She glared at him with frustration.

"You need to calm down, little mate." He laughed and put his mouth on her nipple. She gasped with wide eyes.

"Fuck," she moaned.

He growled and trailed his lips down her waistline. He sucked her belly button, leaving a trail of saliva as if marking her body.

He played with her breasts and sat up, taking off his white shirt.

Slowly, he unbuttoned his shirt with a smirk. She huffed angrily and tried to open his shirt, but he pushed her back on the bed.

"Didn't know you were a savage in bed, mate." He took off his shirt.

She had never seen a body like his. Her eyes were blessed.

"Like what you see?"

She rolled her eyes and pushed her bangs backward.

He ruffled her hair and leaned toward her waist. He smiled as he opened the button of her pants.

"Do you give me your permission to fuck you?" he asked. He didn't want her virginity like that. He needed to hear her consent, and if she refused, he would stand down. He wasn't raised to be an asshole.

"Yes," she breathed, and he grinned.
