ZORA'S POV
The heart of the pack pulsed with a unique energy as Ignis, Garm, and I made our way to the gathering place. Wooden benches were arranged in an organized manner, and in the center, a colossal throne stood, carved with faces representing the alphas who preceded Garnet, the imposing Alpha King. Expectations hung in the air, and pack members began to gather, eager for the important decision that was about to be announced.
I stared at the throne, whose imposing presence echoed my father's authority, and my thoughts wandered to what was to come. Garnet would choose his Luna today, the woman who would share the throne and eventually be the mother of his heir. A shadow of concern loomed over me as I wondered what fate awaited me in this process. It was impossible not to think about what was at stake, especially for me, the Alpha's daughter, who saw the shadow of succession looming over the pack.
Ignis sensed my restlessness and gently held my hand. Her wise and reassuring gaze met mine, as if she could read my thoughts. “No need to worry, Zora. The Moon Goddess has prepared a good Luna for your father.”
I looked at Ignis, seeking answers that she seemed to possess. “How do you know, Ignis?”
Ignis smiled mysteriously. “I know, Zora. I've always known. The Moon Goddess revealed it to me a few moons ago.”
My eyes widened in surprise. “You consulted the Goddess without telling me?”
Ignis nodded, maintaining her calm smile. “There was a time when the connection between us was stronger, and I sought guidance from the Goddess about your future. But you don't need to worry. Everything is according to her plan.”
I stared at Ignis, a mix of curiosity and disbelief forming on my face. “And when were you planning to tell me this?”
Ignis chuckled softly. “I knew that, in time, you would understand. The Goddess guides the pack in mysterious ways, and the future is a tapestry woven with threads only she understands.”
My expression still reflected concern, and I looked at her seriously. “But what if the Luna chosen by my father isn't good enough? What if she gives him a male heir? What if I lose my rightful inheritance?”
Ignis squeezed my hand firmly. “Zora, trust the Goddess. She will not fail to guide Garnet in the right choice. And as for the inheritance, remember that strength and value are not limited by gender. You are a valuable daughter, and your father knows that.”
Before I could respond, Garm, the beta, interrupted us, informing us that Garnet was approaching. Murmurs in the crowd increased as pack members stood up to greet their leader.
Finally, Garnet entered the clearing, flanked by members of his personal guard. His eyes, firm and decisive, swept the crowd before settling on us. Garm made a respectful salute while Ignis and I nodded in acknowledgment.
Garnet walked to his throne, rising with authority. The murmurs in the crowd diminished, and the pack waited in silence for the crucial decision that was about to be announced.
Ignis and I stood by Garm's side, watching attentively. My heart beat faster, and I struggled to push away worries about the pack's future and my role in this unfolding.
Garnet ascended the throne, and the pack waited in silence. He looked at the crowd, his expression solemn. “Today, the Moon Goddess has revealed the chosen one. The Luna who will guide the pack by my side on this throne.”
Garnet raised his hand, silencing the pack. His eyes briefly met mine before he announced, “The Moon Goddess has guided me, and the chosen one to be my Luna is...”
My heart pounded in my ears as I awaited the revelation. The pack was in suspense, and I felt on the edge of a precipice, waiting for the destiny that would unfold before us.
“Gwenyth!” Garnet declared, and the pack erupted in cheers and approving howls.
Gwenyth, a respected and strong she-wolf, stepped forward to Garnet's side, accepting her fate as the new Luna of the pack. Gracefully, she took her place beside Garnet on the colossal throne, representing a new era for the pack.
Ignis and I watched as the ceremony continued, and my mind turned to the future, to the challenges that would come, and to the hope that the Moon Goddess would indeed guide the pack toward the balance it sought.
Ignis squeezed my hand again, conveying confidence. “See, Zora, the Goddess chose wisely.”
I looked at the new Luna, realizing that the chosen woman was worthy of this role. However, a doubt lingered in my mind about what it meant for me, for my inheritance, and for the pack's future.
While cheers echoed in the pack in honor of the new Luna, I, Zora, the Alpha's daughter, remained there, contemplative, aware that the threads of destiny continued to intertwine, shaping the pack's journey under the benevolent gaze of the Moon Goddess.
***
Gwenyth's coronation ceremony, the newly chosen Luna for Garnet, was in full swing. The atmosphere vibrated with joy and celebration, and I, Zora, was dancing spiritedly with Ignis. However, my eyes insisted on drifting away from the festivity to the imposing throne where Garnet exchanged confidential words with Garm, the beta.
The immersive music tried to push away my restless thoughts, but the worry persisted. Ignis, noticing my distraction, spun me gently and smiled. “Zora, we are celebrating. The new Luna was chosen wisely, and the pack will thrive with this union.”
I tried to smile, but my eyes continued to fixate on the throne. “I know, Ignis. It's just that...”
Ignis interrupted me, squeezing my hand. “Leave your worries aside, at least for tonight. The Moon Goddess has guided Garnet in the choice, and everything will happen as planned.”
I nodded, attempting to follow Ignis's advice. We continued to dance, but my heart was still restless. The exchanged looks between Garnet and Garm suggested something more than the simple celebration of the coronation.
As we danced, the melody reached a climax, and it was at that moment that Garm descended from the platform and approached us. My eyes met his, and a subtle tension permeated the air.
Intrigued, I turned to Ignis. “What do you think Garm wants? Can you tell me, please?”
Ignis stared at me, her piercing eyes. “Why do you want to know, Zora? You always say you hate it when I read others' thoughts.”
I rolled my eyes, feeling impatient. “Please, Ignis. Is it important?”
Ignis sighed resignedly. “Garnet asked to speak with you alone. Seems to be a delicate matter.”
I thanked Garm, although uncertainty settled in my chest. Ignis squeezed my hand and encouraged me. “Go with an open heart, Zora. Everything will be fine.”
I walked down the lit corridor toward Garnet's private room. The music from the celebration still echoed, but the atmosphere changed as soon as I crossed the door.
Garnet was seated in his chair, Garm by his side. Both had serious expressions, revealing that the conversation unfolding here would be of great importance.
I closed the door behind me, feeling like an intruder in a world of secrets. Garnet looked at me, his gaze revealing a mix of complex emotions.
“Zora,” Garnet began, “sit. We need to talk.”
I nodded and took the seat indicated by Garnet. Garm remained standing, his posture indicating that he was there as a witness and support.
Garnet sighed before starting. “Zora, Gwenyth's choice as Luna is a crucial step for the pack's stability. However, there's a matter that needs to be discussed.”
My heart raced. “What is it, father? I'm here to listen.”
Garm remained silent by Garnet's side, observing the interaction between father and daughter.
Garnet carefully chose his words. “The Moon Goddess revealed something to me during the ceremony. Zora, you have a special destiny, a role that goes beyond being simply the Alpha's daughter.”
I raised my eyebrows, surprised. “What do you mean, father?”
Garnet looked at Garm, who nodded in confirmation. “Zora, you carry a curse. Your destiny is intertwined with the pack's balance, and the Moon Goddess wishes for you to fully embrace this role.”
A whirlwind of emotions stirred within me. “But what does that exactly mean?”
“Zora, you are the key to the pack's future. Your role will be challenging, but I trust that you are ready to face this journey,” Garnet said with seriousness.
I stared at him, seeking more clarity. “But what should I do, father? What is this role the Goddess expects me to play?”
Garnet took my hand in his. “Zora, you must become the priestess of the Moon Goddess.”
