You Must Leave Me

TALIA'S POV

I wonder how grown-up men and women accept having such a ridiculous personality ruling over them. Her thoughts are awfully selfish. She wasn't willing to confess a thing when she thought her soldiers are capable of protecting her, didn't seem to care if her own husband or beta got hurt doing it, they seem to be expendable assets to her.

Now she keeps her unwavering gaze on Evan and I get that he is the one she is most afraid of.

"Was he with the woman we are looking for?" He questions.

"Yes, she was on the carriage with him." She answers immediately.

"And you welcomed him?" I ask and she momentarily gazes at me.

"Only for a while. All he wanted was supplies. He didn't want to buy them at a random place where they could recognise him and call you."

Neither her voice nor facial features bear any signs of lying. She also didn't take time to conjure up lies, so I believe her.

"Where is he now?" Evan asks.

"I honestly don't know." She answers making us glare at her with scepticism. "I swear he refused to tell me, said that he cannot trust another partner with such vital information." She adds in a haste.

My hope crumbles into a thousand pieces for the hundredth time. It's like we are always too late and we are running out of time to keep chasing.

I don't know of anywhere else that stupid psycho would be welcome to hide.

He was wise however to not reveal to his ally where he was headed because we wouldn't have known his previous hideout if it wasn't for his former partner getting caught.

"I want to know everything else he said, I imagine you two couldn't have only talked about supplies," Evan demands and the Luna vigorously nods her head, no longer bothering to deny anything.

"He raved about how his son suddenly decided to go against the promises he made to his father, how he is running the red moon pack with his own stupid and unrealistic principles that do not enrich the pack. Jason sounded quite disappointed since he thought Miles was the perfect son and heir." She supplies.

I am assuming there is a rat in Red moon Palace, someone that has been informing the old Alpha about how his son is doing things contrary to his wishes and guidelines. I must find time to let Miles know that his father has got people spying on him.

"I figured out that you didn't tell us everything you know about the man that took my sister. You know well who he is, don't you?" I accuse and feel relieved when she shrugs her shoulders.

"It was your father."

"What?!" I unintentionally gasp.

Is she talking about the same man that abandoned us? The jerk that our mother never talked about? It doesn't sound believable. He went his way and forgot about us. I don't see a reason he would steal my little sister because he never wanted us. She also didn't sound like she was being taken care of by a father in her letter.

"He had black wavy hair and honey-brown skin, just like I told you the first time." The Luna adds.

I shrug my shoulders because I don't remember what my father looked like. I think he had wavy hair and honey-brown skin like my little brother. But I am not sure, like I said earlier our mother never indulged in talking about the man after he left.

"His name was Andrey Rayman." She says, finally affirming that it was indeed our father. At least I know that was his name even though I don't remember what he looked like.

But what kind of a father locks his sick daughter in a dark room? Why steal her if he wasn't going to care for her?

"He didn't have enough money to buy her the first time he showed up. The second time he came with a good amount but I had already figured out that I could sell her for a lot more if I kept her for three more years. He was enraged but left without a fuss. A week later the girl disappeared, I have no doubt he somehow found a way to steal her." The Luna reveals, looks at our faces to see if we are pleased with her information.

"Why were your soldiers searching for her?" I ask, still feeling pissed.

She sighs deeply with guilt. "Alpha Jason was searching for her and I offered to help because I wanted revenge. You humiliated me in the worst way possible, what did you expect?"

Her question infuriates me and I punch her in the face without thinking twice.

She grunts and quickly crawls away from me, clutching her left cheek where the blow landed.

"Hey, calm yourself. There is no need to hurt her anymore, we got what we needed." Evan holds me back, stands again and puts a hand around my shoulders.

"Let's go find your mother, we're running out of time." He leans in and whispers.

I take in deep breaths to calm my rage then nod my head. He heats up the wall of ice he created and it falls apart. The terrified wolves on the other side run back farther as the broken ice hits the floor with a startling, loud clang.

None takes a step forward even after the noise dies down. Utter shock is still very evident on their faces, no doubt my mate's powers are going to be the subject of gossip for some time.

He pulls my hand and we make our way out of the small hall. Luna's husband and her Beta only rush to console her when we get to the door.

They don't seem honestly concerned about her. My guess is she won't be the Luna for a long time, they must be disappointed by her mischievous character. Someone with better brains deserves the crown.

"Do you know who your father got married to after he left?" Evan asks as we stride out of the unimpressive palace.

"No, all I remember is his name. Mother never talked about him after he was gone. He could have been a devil." I reply.

Evan stops and looks back at me with a concerned expression that is rarely seen on his face.

"As long as we know he is the one with her finding out where he is won't be hard unless he decides to go into hiding like Alpha Jason." He puts on an encouraging smile and I smile back with hope. He still hugs and rubs my back soothingly.

"I will find your sister and bring her home before she gets any worse. But if we keep chasing after Alpha Jason he may end up killing your mother." He pauses to put both of his hands on my shoulders. "I am afraid that there is only one way left for us to save her. We have to act as if he has won, you must leave me and go to Miles."

My heart pounds hard as my physical instincts completely disagree with his suggestion. But is there an option?
