Chapter 78 DALIA

Chapter 78 DALIA
DALIA

And just like we expected, the witches didn’t stay quiet. They actually bring the fight to us first. And now they have crossed the line. I don’t know how they managed to pull it off but they make puppets from humans and send them to lower packs. A lot of werewolves are dead.

Ezekiel sends some warriors in the lower pack with Aaron leading them. Things are getting messy but we don’t allow it to make us lose focus. I wonder when the witches will accept that they are already defeated. No matter what they do, they can’t win this battle.

I’ve been reading the prophecy book for the past four days now while I prepare myself for the blood moon. The book holds a lot of secrets which is very useful in fulfilling my destiny. My mother knows that I will find this book, that’s why she sent me off with nothing but her faith in me. Ezekiel had finally told me what happened between him and my mother years ago.

I now understand why he hates my mother, and listening to his reasons….. he really has every right to hate my mother. I wanted to give my mother the benefit of the doubt, but the truth is that she was ready to watch all the werewolves and lycans die because of the daughters she loves dearly. Because she had them with a man she loved.

And I was hurt too, because I know that my mother will never fight for me like she fought for her late daughters. But I didn’t let that get to me.

Ezekiel said that he feels my mother is using me for her selfish games. That she can’t genuinely want us to stop this war. Maybe there is something she will get out of it.

“I don’t think so. She raised me for this and this is my destiny. I think she wants to make up for her mistakes. What she did was wrong and evil but let’s not hold it against her.” I said to him, trying to make him understand that this time around it’s me in charge and not my mother.

This is now about me, and not about my mother. This is my destiny. One I will fulfill, but there will be a price.

Yes, I found out yesterday while reading the prophecy book, that was after I had the discussion about my mother with Ezekiel. Elder Owen knows about it too. I begged him to keep it a secret. If Ezekiel finds out the truth, he won’t go with the plan anymore and that will ruin us all.

When I returned to my room that night. I decided to read the letter my mother gave me when she sent me away. Before I finally fulfill my destiny and everything ends, I want to know what’s written in that letter.

I woke up this morning with a headache after barely sleeping last night, thinking about my mother’s letter I read last night.

Flash back

I’m sitting in a meditation pose as I finally decided to read the letter my mother gave me when she sent me away. I was mad at her and refused to read the letter believing that I don’t care about whatever that’s written in there. But I care. And I believe that if I don’t read it now, I will regret it. This is the last chance I have to read it.

I stretch out my palm and mutter a few spells and the letter appears on my palm. I take a deep breath as I look at the old paper in my hand. I have always been curious about what my mother wrote here but I refused to read it because I’m mad at her.

When she sent me away, she said that I shouldn’t come back or look for her. That we are now strangers. Her words hurt and when Ezekiel told me how she wanted to sacrifice everyone for her daughters of light, I was broken but I pretend to be fine. I still defended her.

I may lie to the universe but I can’t lie to myself. I love my mother. I really do. Maybe it’s because she was the only one I’ve ever had. Or maybe it’s because I enjoyed those few good times we spent together. Times like when she taught me all I know and prepared me for the future.

Taking a deep breath, I open the paper and read the few words on it.

“My daughter, Dalia. I know that by the time you read this letter, you would have found out a lot about what your destiny entails. I don’t want you to ever forgive me, Dalia. I’m a bad mother. A mother who can’t even save her children. I’ve known from the very beginning why the almighty gave you to me. But I became selfish again. I wanted to hide you from your destiny. To live happily with you forever. But I was reminded of the true cause.

The only way I can send you away when the time comes is to make sure I’m not attached to you and you are not attached to me. That’s why I became cold towards you. It was hard but that’s the only way. Don’t ever forgive this weak mother of yours, my child. A mother who can’t even save her child. A mother, who will stand by and watch her daughter sacrifice her life to save her creature.

If I wasn’t selfish years ago, things wouldn’t have gotten to this level. The almighty gave you to me as a punishment to what I did. For not sacrificing the daughters of light to lock the gate of hell. Ezekiel took the bold step but unfortunately, it was just temporary and it was all because I delayed the process and I killed all the witches to prevent Ezekiel from knowing the truth. My punishment is to have you and then watch you die to save my creatures. I don’t know if I should regret creating the lycans and werewolves. But I know I can’t because they are my children too. I created them, so I should be responsible for them.

I hope you can forgive this selfish and weak mother of yours. I love you, my child.

End of flashback….

I’ve been crying since last night after reading that letter. I couldn’t even sleep. Now I understand the pain in my mothers eyes when she sent me away. The reason she didn’t want me to feel attached to her. The reason she always treats me coldly. She wants me to hate her at the end. She doesn’t want me to think about her when it’s time to make the right decision.

She has lost a lot already and now she will lose more. She will lose me because for me to lock the gate of hell, my life will be scarified.

Yes, I am the key to open the gate. I am also the key to lock the gate. It depends on how the key will be used. Either way, my life will be lost.
