Chapter 63 DALIA
DALIA
When Lena walked into the room. I noticed the fear in Sarah's eyes. I don't know if I imagined it or not but it was there before it was gone. But what I don't understand is why Sarah will be scared of Lena. What could Lena have done to her? Or maybe she's just scared of her the way she's scared of Ezekiel since Lena is like a sister to Ezekiel and he will do anything to protect her. And Ezekiel will also listen to her. Maybe she thinks that if Lena tells Ezekiel to kill her that he will do it without batting an eye. I believe that's why she looks scared of Lena. I mean, there's no other explanation I can think of.
“You guys didn't tell us about this,” Lena says as she glances between me and Ezekiel. I study her face and I pick a slight expression. It's so tiny that it went as it came. She's not happy. Well, I don't think I have to put too much meaning into it. It's not bad if she feels a bit sad and left out.
“Dalia thought it would be best if we questioned her first. We haven't even gotten anything from her. She seems scared and uncomfortable with two of us questioning her. So I don't think it's a good idea for others to be here,” Ezekiel replies.
Lena nods in understanding. Her eyes flicker to Samara who's still unconscious. “Why is she not awake?” She moves to touch Samara but Sarah quickly stands between them. Her chest rising and falling. That fear is still in her eyes but seems to be hidden by anger.
“You won't touch her.” Her voice is rigid. Lena doesn't say anything and just turns away. I'm trying to know if I can pick anything from her expression but nothing.
“We were getting somewhere before Lena entered. Sarah, can you tell me who the witch currently in my pack is?” Ezekiel asks, his dark eyes staring deep into Sarah's eyes.
Sarah shifts uncomfortably on her feet as she starts fidgeting. Her eyes flicker to Lena and I swear I saw that fear again before it was gone. What the fuck us going on? Why does it seem that she's finding it hard to tell us what she agrees to say just because of Lena's presence.
I look at Lena but her face is stoic with no expression. She's just staring blankly at Sarah, giving nothing off. She's always like that. She's just so hard to read.
“She…. She's a maid here,” Sarah mutters.
“A maid?” Ezekiel is just as shocked as I am. How did she end up being a maid here, or did she take someone's form just like Annika.
“Is she in her form?” I ask.
“Yes. Annika is the only one that can take someone's form.”
“You mean the dead witch?” Ezekiel asks.
“What! Is Annika dead?” Sarah is so shocked that her eyes seem like it will pop out of their socket.
“Yes. She killed herself,” I reply.
“How did that happen…. I mean why did she kill herself.”
“Because her game was over. We caught her and she chose to die instead of giving us information that we needed.”
Sarah sits on the edge of the bed. She looks shocked, confused, scared as she bites her lower lips while fidgeting. She glances at Lena, Ezekiel and then at me. I can see it in her eyes. She wants to tell me something but she doesn't want either Lena or Ezekiel here.
“So Sarah, you have one choice. It's either you tell us what we want to know or you die,” Ezekiel says. His face alone is enough to tell Sarah that he's serious.
SARAH
I'm scared. I don't know what to do. Should I tell them what they want to know or should I keep it to myself to save my daughter and myself. I don't know what Lydia did to my daughter, but all I know is that she wasn't alone when she entered my room a few hours ago. Someone was with her. A very powerful witch. If it was only Lydia, I would have overpowered her and saved my daughter. But the witch with her was so powerful. And amidst it all, I noticed something. She's a werewolf and that scent I'd notice anywhere.
Lena…. A girl that's like a sister to the Alpha King. I ignored my assumption because there's no way it could be true but the moment she stepped into this room and the scent hit me again and this time more clear without anything trying to block it, I panicked. It's her….it's definitely her. But what baffles me is why she's doing this. I mean…. She can't be a witch, right?
I try not to be scared, but the way she looks at me when no one is looking –especially when she walks into the room– the warning in her eyes, makes me think that I'm right. Lena is a witch or maybe a hybrid. But why didn't I know about it. Has she been hiding here all these years? Has she been deceiving the werewolves and lycans all these while? If that's the case, why then did they send Annika and Lydia here.
My head is busting…. Coupled with Annika's death, I'm totally confused and scared. How did they manage to catch Annika which led to her death. Should I trust Alpha Ezekiel and his mate? Will they really protect me and Samara or should I trust Lydia and the witch she is with. Maybe the witch is Lena or maybe she's not. I just don't know but I will have to find out.
Samara is at the witches mercy while Jerald is at Alpha Ezekiel's mercy. I will either save my daughter or my husband. Or I will risk it all and trust Dalia. Trusting her will save both my daughter and my husband.
“Dalia, can I speak to you alone?” I say. I glance at Lena. I can see the clenching of her jaws and the warning in her eyes. What I want to say, I can't say it in front of Alpha Ezekiel. And if Lena is really with the witches that means the witches are totally ahead of the lycans and werewolves. Is Dalia strong enough to stop this war? Will I regret my decision of trusting her?
