Part Forty-Seven

“Hello Samantha,” I said as I stood in front of her cell in the dungeon.

She lifted her head but I felt nothing as I looked at her. She had lost weight, dark circles were visible under her eyes, her hair was dirty and matted against her head and she smelled. Her father wasn’t any better off but I had kept them each at one end of the cells, far away from each other.

“Griffin?” she asked questioningly as she pushed herself up and stumbled holding on to the bars of her cell.

“I hope you’ve found your accommodations suitable,” I said.

“Griffin, I can explain,” she said as she looked at me.

“Please do,” I said as I pulled up a chair and sat down.

“I didn’t have a choice, my father…” she began and coughed violently as she took a deep breath.

“Your father abandoned you! I saved you!” I yelled at her.

“He was out making the world a better place!” she yelled back.

“I have to commend you though, you had me completely fooled, I would’ve done anything for you,” I said to her.

“It wasn’t all a lie Griff,” she said.

“Griffin, you don’t get to call me Griff,” I said.

“Please Griffin,” she said.

“Please what? You betrayed me, sold out my clowder and killed my mother, killed Mac, his parents,” I said to her.

“I didn’t kill your mother,” she said.

“You might as well have, tell me Samantha, how did it feel to shoot me in the back?” I asked her as she began to cry.

“I’m sorry,” she said.

“I’m not,” I said and stood up.

“You’ll end up alone Griffin, old and lonely because you can never let anything go, even your bonded half rejected you!” she yelled suddenly as I smiled at her.

“No she didn’t, Sierra’s in the clowder house, in my room, ready to accept my proposal to become the Lady of my clowder,” I said to her.

“You’re lying,” she said.

“I don’t really care what you think anymore. There’s a word for people like you, I think it’s… ah yes, whore,” I said and walked away.

“Griffin!” she yelled.

“Bring Phillip out,” I said to the warrior guarding his cell.

He was worse off than Samantha and I was repulsed to even touch him. I dragged him back to Samantha’s cell and I pressed him against the bars as she rushed forward again with fresh tears in her eyes as she looked at him.

“You’re a monster,” she said as she looked at me.

“Yes I am,” I said as I pulled him back and gripped his throat tightly, so tight that his eyes started to bulge as Samantha screamed. My claws elongated and I threw him to the side as I gripped her shirt and pulled her closer to the bars.

Kane pounced on Phillip just as he made contact with the floor and growled as he ripped his throat out. Phillip’s scream ended abruptly in his throat as Kane tore and bit down on him. Samantha kept screaming as Kane literally ripped her father to pieces.

“I condemn you Samantha, to walk through the darkness of the afterlife, hungry, thirsty, blind and alone,” I said as she gasped and looked down.

My hand was in her chest and the shock was evident on her face. I circled my fingers around her heart and squeezed slightly as blood ran from the corner of her mouth, “this is what you did to my mother.” I ripped her heart out and let it fall to the floor as her body slumped down.

“Send their bodies to the Council member that fought and won the Hunter Treaty,” I said.

“Yes Alpha,” the warrior said.

Kane walked ahead of me, blood dripping down his chin and we stepped into the cold air. His bloodlust seemed better now that he had killed and I was no longer bound to Samantha. I could complete the bond with Sierra and do the ceremony that would make her mine completely.

“I feel better now,” Kane said as we trudged up the steps and into the house.

“Go rub your face in the snow, you’re covered in blood,” I said to him.

“So are you,” he said.

“I can shower,” I said to him.

“So can I.”

“Not with me,” I said to him.

“And here I thought you liked wet…”

“Kane! Don’t even finish that sentence!” I said looking at him shocked beyond words. He was laughing his head off as he headed back outside and I stood on the stairs for a few seconds.

“Did you just kill Samantha?” Jett asked me as he walked towards me.

“Yes, I needed to kill something,” I said to him.

“It was about time,” he said as he whistled and kept walking down the steps.

I had just washed the blood off of me when the shower door opened and Sierra stepped inside. She pressed her cold hands against my back and I literally jumped away from her as she laughed.

“I thought the cold didn’t bother you,” she said.

“It’s different when you press your cold hands against me,” I said.

“Maybe you should warm me up then,” she said and laughed as I pinned her against the shower wall.

“Be careful what you wish for nymph,” I said as I lowered my head towards hers.

After our shower which lasted almost an hour we were sitting on the bed, dressed warmly with a blanket wrapped around her. I had just adjusted the heating in my room for her when she looked at me with a serious expression on her face.

“We need to talk,” she said.

“Okay,” I said as I turned sideways and faced her.

“When are you going to ask me to complete the bond?” she asked.

“What?” I asked taken aback.

“I really thought we were past everything and moving forward….”

“Sierra…”

“I mean, even if I don’t feel the bond like you do, I do love you…”

“Sierra!” I said loudly.

“What?”

“Will you marry me?” I asked her.

“Oh so now you’re asking me because I said something,” she said and stood up.

“Is that a no?”

“Yes,” she said.

“Is that a yes?” I asked her.

“Yes… no,” she said and turned to glare at me.

“I was going to ask you tonight properly, take you out to dinner,” I said.

“Really?”

“No,” I said and laughed as she took her shoe off and threw it at my head.

I watched as her shoe hit the wall next to her, not even close to where I was sitting on the bed. She stomped forward and took her other shoe off and hit me against my forehead with force as I kept laughing.

“Now I won’t say yes,” she said as I grabbed her and rolled over so she was pinned beneath me.

“Yes you will,” I said and kissed her.

“You better not take me to a diner,” she said as I let her up.

“What’s wrong with the diner?” I asked her innocently.

“Griffin Woods, if you want me to say yes you better have a ring and a speech and wear a tie!” she said loudly and walked out of the room.

I lay back on the bed still chuckling when Jett fell down on the bed next to me rubbing the back of his head. He turned to look at me and I started laughing again as he frowned.

“Did you tell her to hit me?” he asked.

“Who?”

“Sierra, she just smacked me behind my head,” he said and I laughed again.

“That’s just her way of showing you she loves you,” I said to him and sat upright.

“I’m not sure I’m into all of this kinky stuff anymore,” he said as I pushed him off the bed.

“So when are we meeting Tanith?” I asked him.

“Now why do you have to be like this?” he asked me.

“You know as Alpha I can meet with her parents, plead your case,” I said to him.

“Where’s this sudden nice side coming from?” he asked me.

“Can’t I want my best friend to be happy?” I asked him.

“Talking about happy, when are you making an honest woman of Sierra?” he asked me and I slapped him behind his head again.

“Ow man!” he said.

“Tonight,” I said and stood up from the bed.

“Can I watch? I’ll be really quiet, you won’t even know I’m there,” he said.

“No!”

“Please, come on Griff,” he said.

“Okay,” I said and he smiled.

“Really?” he asked as I shook my head no and left the room.
