VALERIE'S POV
"Oh my god, alpha Ambrose is so romantic,"
"I know, right? He is such a handsome and romanticist,"
"Who would've thought he would propose to her like this?"
"I feel kind of jealous. Even if she is the rogue, she has alpha on his knees for her,"
"I know, right? My alpha only came and marked me. Look at alpha Ambrose, proposing to her like a true gentleman,"
"Who would've thought the strongest and scariest alpha in the world had it in him?"
"Is he crazy? How can he think of proposing to a rogue that to be in front of everyone? Is he not wary of what others would think? The least he could do was propose to her in private. Why make a scene?"
I heard the whispers around me, and my gaze stopped at Ambrose, who looked least bothered by everything that was happening around us.
"Valerie, you can't go like this without telling me your answer," Ambrose held my hand and stood as soon as I turned around to leave.
He pulled me closer with a jerk, making my chest collide with his. I noticed how intense and full of love his gaze was, and remembering what he did to me last night, I gritted my teeth before raising my hand and placing it on his shoulder.
I smiled at him before gripping his neck and pushing him away from me, my hand grabbing his neck in a tight grip, and once again, everyone around me gasped.
Seriously, can they stop acting like they are in some kind of soap opera? They don't need to gasp at everything. I gritted my teeth, my gaze hard, meeting Ambrose's shocked and soft ones.
"Valeri, I know you are eager, but we can do this later. I mean, I am open to these things, but will be doing it in front of everyone be really okay? Can you first give me your answer? I will let you do anything to me after that; I swear," Ambrose said shamelessly, a smirk on his lips, and I felt heat creep up my neck.
I looked around and noticed the amused look on a few alphas and Lunas, along with George and Ambrose's other man, and I gritted my teeth.
"You!"
"Yes, me. I am yours," Ambrose said shamelessly, and I was about to remove my hand from his neck when as if knowing what was going inside my head, he placed his hand on mine, pressing my hand even tighter.
"I promise, Valerie. I promise to do everything you want and love you the way you like. If you want, I will stay by your side without commitment, too but don't throw away my love like that. I know what I did last night was beyond forgiveness, but hear me out, I was under the influence of some drug that even I don't know of. Please believe me, I haven't loved it and wanted anyone as I do to you," he stepped closer to me.
"You are this drug that I can't live without you anymore. The more I taste your affection, the more I need you. This might come off as just words to you after last night, but I mean every single thing I am saying in front of everyone. If I ever betrayed you, you have the entire right to kill me in my sleep, which I know is one of your darkest fantasies, killing your offenders in sleep," Ambrose said, and I gulped when my heart started picking its pace.
"What you are talking about is not making any sense to me, and I don't think you are exactly looking for the right person. I am not someone who does commitment," I scoffed before tilting my head, ready to rebuke anything, and he smirked.
"If you don't do commitment, my love, why did you let me mark you?" He brought his free hand to my neck before sliding his hand to get closer to my neck, and as soon as his fingers rubbed on my mark, my toes curled at the pleasurable sensations that were sent down my spine.
What the hell was wrong with me? I am supposed to be angry and not give in to him like this.
Was he under the influence of a drug? Huh, he shouldn't have come to me to vent out his anger then.
'Do you really not want him to come to you when he is hurt and wants you? I know I told you I would be there with you in whatever decisions you make, but do you think it would be okay? I can see Cyrus and him are trying their best right now. While Ambrose is trying to woo you, Cyrus has been begging me to ask you to give them a chance again,' Adele said, and I looked into Ambrose's eyes.
Though he was smirking and joking, I could see a hint of fear in his eyes. What could he be afraid of? Losing me? The thought alone made my heart thump, and I gritted my teeth.
"I am not becoming your Luna until I have everything sorted on my plate," I said, and he raised his brows in surprise.
"I told you. I will never force you to take the position. You can take your time. I will handle it all until you are ready, and even if you aren't ready, just be with me, and I can handle everything. I don't need your powers, your influence, or anything. I need your love, my sunshine," Ambrose said, and I bit my lower lip.
"I expect a better proposal next time. I am not saying yes to you," I said, and he smiled before stepping closer to me.
He placed his forehead on mine before closing his eyes.
"My sunshine, I will keep proposing to you until you are ready to give yourself to me. For now, you forgave me, and that's enough for me," he said, and I hummed.
"God, you have no idea how scared I was that I lost you," he hugged me tightly, and when I say tightly, it was so tight that I felt like he wanted to break my bones as he lifted me in the air and I oomph before slapping his shoulders.
"Sorry. I was just so excited," Ambrose said before sighing, and I don't know why, but the nervousness in his eyes made me more happy than his proposal. I liked how he cared and loved me so much.
"By the way, are you okay now? I heard from George what I did, and I am truly ashamed of it," Ambrose said, and I hummed.
"I am fine," I said and was about to plop on the couch when he held my waist.
"If you are fine, it would be fine if I kissed you right now, right?" he asked, moving his face closer to me and I was about to push him because I didn't want to share anything intimate in front of some of these alphas who wanted me out of the council chambers a few minutes ago.
"No, you can't," I heard Logan's voice, who placed his hand on my mouth, making Ambrose kiss the back of his hand.
"Dude, what the -"
"Come, Valerie, I brought something for you," Logan held my hand and pulled me out of the area, making me chuckle when he rolled his eyes.
"So you made up with him?" Logan asked, and I hummed.
"I did," I said.
"Good. I heard what he did for you a few minutes ago, and as much as it pisses me off to tell you, he was really tricked last night. I received an entire report about it. The guy is really head over heels for you," Logan said, and I looked at him with quirked brows.
"He had denied coming to the annual ball because of you. He said he couldn't risk bringing you to a public place like this, and there's no point in coming if he has to come alone, even when he has a mate and the love of his life. Who would've thought he would be rendered to come here to look for the same girl he wasn't coming because of?" Logan said, and I chuckled at him.
"Why do I feel like this was one of your cunning tricks to bring the strongest Alpha here?" I asked.
"Geez, how did you find out? And here I thought my plan was foolproof," Logan said, and I sighed.
"Jokes apart, why did you single me out from everyone? I am sure it's not because you wanted to give something to me. I am sure something is going on, and you better tell me the truth. Something happened today in the council chambers too, but let's talk about it after you share your piece of news," I said, and he thinned his lips.
"Well,"
"Well?"
"The vampires are here," Logan said, and I sighed.
"Okay,"
"Okay? That's it?" Logan raised his brows at me.
"What do you expect me to do then? Scream out to the world that a bunch of vampires are behind me?" I raised my brows at him, and he sighed.
"I know. I just expected a little surprise," he said, and I shrugged.
"I am not shocked. The reason is I already knew about it," I said.
"How come? I am sure no one in the council knows," He said, and I looked at the stable with a weirded-out expression.
"How can I not know when the vampires had made their presence near the council too?" I thinned my lips.
