CHAPTER 146: Proof of Us
CHAPTER 146: Proof of Us
Harry’s POV
The moment Violet had walked up to me, I would have said no to her.
My wolf had been restless from the moment she had walked through the halls of Bloodfang pack, but I had not heeded the warning signs.
I went ahead and let her do whatever she liked because, somehow, she still had that power over me.
I recalled how Chloe had bolted out the door, her face a mask of hurt and pain and my insides twisted. I had promised I would not hurt her again.
I shoved Violet away. She stumbled with a scoff, smirking even as I bolted towards Chloe in the near darkness.
I caught sight of her just as she ran into the gardens.
“Chloe, wait!” My voice broke as it carried into the night.
She whirled when I caught up, her eyes blazing through a sheen of tears. Leave me alone!” moving farther into the flowerbeds.
I stopped just a few feet away from her. “Chloe, it wasn’t what it looked like…”
“Oh, spare me the line, Harry,” she gave a short, bitter laugh. “I watched you. You let her touch you. You let her lips touch yours.”
“I didn’t kiss her…”
“But you didn’t stop her either!” she screamed, shoving me hard in the chest.
My back hit a tree. “You stood there like a fool while she humiliated me. And you expect me to believe you don’t want her?”
My chest constricted with her harsh words, but I pushed closer, taking another step towards her, but she backed away, wrapping her arms around herself like she was trying to defend herself from my presence.
“I gave you everything, and hoped that one day maybe you’d see me. And the first time you had the chance, you ran back to her.”
“I didn’t…” My voice cracked. I dragged a hand through my hair, pulling at the roots. “Chloe, I swear to you, Violet’s manipulating everything. She’s twisting it. She always has.”
“Of course she has!” Chloe’s eyes burned as tears spilled over. “And you still let her. You let her drag you back into her little games while I…” Her voice faltered “while I stood there, believing you’d finally chosen me.
I stepped closer, desperate. “I have chosen you. I just got a little upset with the way Jones was all over you?”
She shook her head. “Jones is not my type, neither am I his. There is nothing there.”
“Why then was he all over you”?
“We were just talking, Harry” she said, her lips quivering. “But there you were chasing after that traitor.”
“Violet is nothing to me, I swear”
“Then prove it. Show me she doesn’t still own a piece of you. Tell me I’m not just your second choice, the backup you run to when she ruins you again!”
“Chloe, there’s nothing to prove because you’re my only choice.”
“Harry.” Violet’s voice called out to me in the darkness, her gown shimmering under the moonlight.
When she got to the garden entrance, she stopped and leaned against the pillar, smirking. “Harry, she is a fcking omega, why the hell are you trying to pacify her? She’ll never understand us because she is not our type.”
“Shut up, Violet!” I snapped, the rage boiling out of me.
But Chloe had already stiffened, her hands curling into fists. “You hear that?” she whispered, her voice shaking. She says ‘us’. And you didn’t even deny it.”
My heart pounded so hard it hurt. I was losing her. She was slipping through my fingers, and every word Violet spoke was pushing her further away.
I searched desperately for something…anything to prove I wasn’t lying, that I hadn’t betrayed her.
And then I saw him.
Leo.
He clutched his camera against him, videoing everything. How had he gotten here?
I strode over, yanking the camera gently but firmly from his hands before he could protest. My fingers fumbled over the buttons, scrolling through the playback. My lungs nearly collapsed when the image lit up.
There it was.
Violet, leaning in. Me stiff, pulling back. Her mouth crushing mine while my hands rose to push her away.
Everything was in there.
I turned to Leo with a smile on my face and gave him a big kiss on the cheeks.
The poor boy looked confused, and reached out for his camera.
I turned the screen toward Chloe, my hands trembling. “Look. Please, just look.”
She leaned in slightly, curious, and for the first time that night, I saw Violet’s wicked smile falter.
“Do you see?” I asked Chloe. “She’s been playing us both. I love you, Chloe. Only you.”
Chloe’s hands flew to her mouth. Her whole body shook, caught between heartbreak and relief.
Her gaze snapped to Violet, blazing. “You snake.”
Violet lifted her chin, feigning calm, but her face had drained of color. “You think this changes anything? You will never be enough for him. He’ll come back to me. He always does.”
“No,” I said, the word filled with resolve.
I turned, reached for Chloe’s face, and kissed her.
It wasn’t gentle. It was raw, desperate, staking a claim in front of Violet. I needed to correct an impression. Chloe gasped against my mouth, then melted into me, gripping my jacket like a lifeline.
When I pulled back, my forehead rested against hers. “You’re mine. And I’m yours. That’s all there is.”
Violet’s strangled noise cut through, but I didn’t look at her. Chloe was all I saw.
I pulled her close, my lips brushing her ear. “Come with me.”
“Yes,” she whispered, her voice sending electricity down my spine.
We stumbled into my room, the door slamming shut.
Chloe slammed me against the door as soon as it closed behind us.
I gasped.
I had never seen her like that before. I didn't know she possessed such strength. She devoured my mouth like a starved animal, sucking and kissing and pulling off my shirt and messing my hair.
She growled and pressed our bodies together, sliding her tongue against mine and grinding her hips against my bulge.
Before I could take control, she pushed me onto the bed, straddling me, and pining my hands to the bedpost. Her breath was ragged as she tore at my shirt.
My eyes widened in shock.
I didn't know what was going on, but I loved it, because there was a wildcat in my bed, and she was
Mine
Mine
Mine
She went for my fly and zipped me down, her hands reaching into my boxers and fisting my cck.
I let out a deep groan and dropped my head back onto the pillow while she stroked me, squeezing and twisting at the tip, making me even harder than humanly possible.
“Chloe…” I groaned, but she silenced me with another kiss, fierce and wild.
She reached to the back and pulled down her zipper. Her gown pooled around her waist, exposing the most beautiful skin I had ever seen.
My hands reached out to trace her curves, but she held them in her hard grip.
“Say it,” she demanded, her voice carrying a hint of tears. “Say you’re mine.”
“I’m yours,” I gasped against her throat. “Always. Only yours.”
Her fingers dug into my hair, tugging, desperate. “Then mark me. Do it, Harry. Please.”
My wolf howled inside me.
I rolled her beneath me, pinning her wrists above her head. Her eyes, glazed with desire, locked on mine.
“You’re sure?” My voice shook, even as my body burned.
“Yes,” she breathed. “Mark me. Make me yours forever.”
My wolf took over, and I growled as hot and cold shivers ran down my spine.
I kissed down her throat, tasting salt and heat, until my fangs grazed the soft curve where her neck met her shoulder.
She arched beneath me, trembling, whispering my name like a prayer.
“Harry…”
I sank my teeth into her skin.
She gasped, her cry torn between pain and pleasure.
Her body convulsed, gripping mine as a surge of magic exploded through us, golden light searing where my mark burned into her flesh.
I felt her soul slam into mine, two halves fusing into one. Her heartbeat echoed in my chest. Her thoughts brushed mine. Her essence tangled with mine.
The bond.
She clawed at my back, pulling me deeper, needing more.
I gave it all. Every ounce of love, every shred of desire, every part of me that had ever belonged to anyone else burned away in the fire that was brewing between us.
“Mine,” I growled against her skin, licking the blood, soothing the wound.
“Yours,” she whispered, tears streaking down her temples, her hips rolling under me, needing, demanding.
Every thrust, every gasp, every kiss was felt in my core.
The magic of the mate bond flared, locking, burning, until release tore through both of us…blinding, shattering, leaving us clinging, crying out each other’s names.
