Chapter 60
Alexa

'Let's have lunch together after you close from school'
My finger tightened around my phone as I read through the text my mom had sent to me a few minutes ago.
From the text, one would mistake her for a loving mother who cared so much about her daughter and wanted to eat with her, but it was different. They were all out to nag me about this whole marriage thing.

I combed through my hair with my fingers frustratingly.

I wanted to invite Scarlet over. At least it'll save me the stress as my parents might not complain with her around, but she couldn't follow me because she has a date with Derek.

My phone pinged with a text as I approached my car, but I didn't check until I had hopped inside the car.

'Hey, baby! I've missed you so much'
I rolled my eyes as I read through the text my 'tinder boyfriend' sent to me. I tried convincing him to meet my parents as my boyfriend, but he wouldn't even listen to me. I've been wondering what if he wasn't even real? What if the picture there was just of someone he was impersonating?

I didn't think twice before blocking his number, tossing my phone on the seat beside me before driving out of the school.

I stopped by at a restaurant to get something to eat as I might lose my appetite later in the house.

"Are you taking it home, Ms?" The waitress who was about the same age range as myself, asked.

"No. I will eat here."

I placed my order, and she went to get it while I waited for her.

My eyes searched around the restaurant, looking for what was not lost. It was a local restaurant in a secluded area, so I was the only customer here. This was the perfect place to have a meal as I didn't want any trouble from anyone.

As I waited for the waitress while scrolling away on my phone, I heard the door open and someone walking inside, so I was forced to raise my gaze to check who the person was.
However, my jaws dropped the moment I saw the huge man who just walked inside. Tall, a sexy masculine body hugged by the black shirt he was wearing, pale white skin, oval-shaped face with sharp jawlines.
I felt something jolt inside me, my heart fluttering strangely, and my core tightened. Damn! This man was fucking gorgeous.

I watched as he approached me, and just when I thought he was going to come sit at my table, he walked past me without even looking my way.
It's crazy how I even imagined that. I mean, why would he? Not that we knew each other from Adam.

A subconscious smile crept up my face as I looked back and found him already sitting there, his gaze on his phone.

"Ms. Your food is here." I was jolted back to reality by the waitress's voice, and I turned to her with a smile on my face.

"Thank you."
Once the waiter left, I picked up my tray of food, walking over to his table, and as I stood in front of him minutes later, he lifted his gaze to me. Damn! He had the most gorgeous almond eyes I've ever seen. It felt as though those eyes were staring right through my soul.

"Hi!" I could hear my heart pounding hard in my ears, my grip around the tray tightened as nervousness hit me hard.

"Hey! Is there a problem?" He batted his eyelashes, confusion settling on his face.

"Can I sit here with you?" I asked boldly, shoving my nervousness away.

He stared at me, his expression unreadable. He remained like that for a few seconds, but the next words that rolled off his tongue made my heart sink.

"No." he blatantly rejected me, returning his gaze back to his phone.

"Oops! Too bad that I won't listen." I smirked, dropping the tray on the table, then pulled out the chair and across from him, and sat down.

He lifted his gaze to me, his eyebrows raised in shock.

"If you are expecting someone, I will leave as soon as the person comes here." I smiled at him softly, and he gave me a long blank stare before returning his gaze back to his phone.

The atmosphere tensed up awkwardly as I stared at this man, my cheeks burning hot, and my heart hammering hard against my chest. It was no doubt that I fucking like this man at first sight.

"Why didn't you order anything?" I broke the silence, but he ignored me. He didn't even spare me a glance. What a rude young man he is. Too bad, I won't fall for that.

"I will call the waitress so you can order something to eat. I will pay for it." I further said, but he remained still.

"Waiter!" I called out, and the lady that served me earlier walked over to us with the menu book held in her hand.

"Let me have that, please."
She handed me the menu book, then I gently slid it into his hand, and this time, he looked at me.

"Order whatever you want. I have the money, so you don't have to worry about the pay. I will pay for it." I winked at him, and this time, he put his phone away, letting out a huff.

"Young lady-"

"Let's talk while eating. For now, order whatever you want." I cut him off gently, and his eyebrows furrowed.
He stared at me before turning to the waitress.

"I will have only water, please."

"Alright, Sir. I will go get it for you." After the waitress left, I turned to him.

"Forgive my manners. My name is Alexa. What's your name?"

He ignored me and picked up his phone again, scrolling through it for a few seconds before lifting it to his ear.

"Hmm. Let's meet some other time." He spoke on the phone, and once the call ended, he stood up.
At that moment, the waitress walked up to us with the bottle of water.

"Here, sir."

He collected the water, then turned to me and smiled faintly. A smile that was barely visible, and only lasted for a split second, then he said. "Thanks for this."
And with that, he started to walk away.

"Hey! You can't walk away just like that." I held his hand, and goodness! His muscles were so strong. He must be frequenting the gym.

"Why? Do you need me to pay you for the-"

"That's so rude of you, you know? It's not about the water..." I rolled my eyes, still holding on to his hand.

"Let me have your number."

"No." He snatched his hand away.

"Ugh! Don't be dramatic. Not every woman is romantically interested in you. I have other reasons, so give me your number." I guess those words got to him, because he frowned.
Well, I guess that worked.

He hesitated before giving me his personal card.

"Don't spam me with calls." He warned, and with that, he turned his back on me and walked out of the restaurant. Not sparing me another glance.

After he left, I read the card, and my mouth curled up in a smile when I saw his name written there.
"Vladimir? What a nice name." I muttered, running my fingers on the card...
