Chapter 40

Chapter 40
Lila's POV

I needed an escape. Not a long-term solution. Just a quick fix. A purge. Something to shut down the noise in my head, if only for a few hours.

I found myself at a high-end bar downtown. Dim lights, soft jazz, and the clink of expensive glasses. It was the kind of place where discretion was understood.

I ordered a neat whiskey, letting the burn slide down my throat. My eyes scanned the room, not for conversation, but for possibility.

Then I saw him. Older. Silver at the temples, but with the sharp lines of a man who still worked out. Intense eyes that seemed to miss nothing.

A powerful aura, like a predator at rest. He sat alone at the bar, nursing a drink, seemingly oblivious to the world around him. He was perfect. No softness. No complications. Just pure, undeniable presence.

I walked over. My heels clicked softly on the polished floor. I leaned against the bar, close enough for him to notice, but not so close as to seem desperate. He finally turned his head. His eyes, dark and intelligent, met mine. A slow, appreciative smile touched his lips.

"Enjoying the solitude?" I asked, my voice low and direct. No games. No small talk.

He raised an eyebrow. "Just observing. This city always has a new story to tell. What about you? Seeking company?"

"Perhaps," I admitted, swirling the ice in my glass. "Or just a momentary distraction."

"Distractions can be dangerous," he commented, his voice a low rumble. "Or exhilarating. Depends on what you're looking for." His gaze swept over me, lingering. It wasn't lewd. It was assessing. Confident.

"I know what I'm looking for," I stated, holding his gaze. "And I don't scare easily."

He chuckled, a rich, deep sound. "I like that. Direct. No pretense. My name's Marcus."

I raised my glass, taking a slow sip. "I don't need to know your name," I told him, my voice cool. "It makes things less complicated."

He paused, a flicker of surprise in his eyes, quickly replaced by that knowing hunger. "Intriguing. What do you need then?" His voice dropped.

"Just a moment of absolute oblivion," I said, my gaze holding his. "And something to make me forget."

The conversation flowed, punctuated by suggestive glances and loaded silences. We didn't talk about jobs or futures. We talked about desire. About need. About the unspoken things that hummed between two people who knew exactly what they wanted from each other. He was intelligent. Witty. And he made it clear, without ever using crude words, that he understood the kind of release I sought.

"My place is closer," he suggested, his voice barely a whisper, as he leaned in. The scent of his cologne, clean and sophisticated, filled my senses. "And significantly more private."

I met his gaze. My heart hammered against my ribs. Not with nervousness. With anticipation. "Lead the way," I murmured.

His apartment was high above the city, a penthouse overlooking the glittering lights. It was sleek. Modern. Cold. Just like I liked it. He didn't offer me another drink. He didn't ask personal questions. He simply took my hand, his grip firm, and led me to the bedroom.

The room was dimly lit. The bed was massive. He didn't undress me slowly. He didn't make it soft or tender. He wanted me. And I wanted him to take me. It was raw. Primal. A desperate need to be consumed, to feel nothing but the fierce urgency of another body against mine.

He pushed me onto the bed. My dress rode up. His hands were on my thighs, strong, possessive. He pulled. I arched, meeting his unspoken command. My panties were ripped away, the sound a low tear in the quiet room. His mouth descended on mine. Hard. Demanding. I tasted whiskey and something wild. My own mouth opened, welcoming him.

He was rough. But not cruel. His fingers plunged between my legs, exploring the wet heat he found there. They teased. They circled. Then they pushed, deep inside me.

He groaned, a guttural sound from his chest, as his thumb pressed hard against my clit, sending a jolt of fire through me. My hips bucked, an instinctive response to the sudden, powerful invasion. He chuckled, a low, satisfied sound against my lips.

"Eager," he murmured, pulling back just enough to look into my eyes. His were dark with lust.

"Just hungry," I growled, my voice a husky whisper. I gripped his hair, pulling him closer. "Don't hold back."

He didn't. He stripped quickly, his body lean and powerful. He pushed into me. Hard. Fast. A gasp escaped my lips. He filled me. Utterly. Completely. My legs wrapped around his waist, pulling him deeper. The rhythm was frantic. A desperate chase for release.

His hips pounded against mine. My nails dug into his shoulders. I moaned, a raw, guttural sound, as the tension coiled tighter and tighter within me.

My head thrashed on the pillow. Every thrust was a blow against the stress, against the loneliness, against the frustration. He drove into me, his body slick with sweat. I felt his cock, thick and hot, rubbing against my core with each deep plunge.

He pushed me higher. Harder. He knew exactly what I needed. Pure, unadulterated sensation. No thought. No emotion. Just the raw, physical purging.

I screamed as the climax hit me. A violent, shuddering wave that shook my entire body. My muscles clenched around him, pulling him in even deeper. His own release followed quickly, a deep groan against my neck as he emptied himself into me, a hot rush filling me.

Afterwards, he pulled out. Slowly. Deliberately. He didn't move away. He just lay there, heavy on me, his breathing ragged. I felt the sweat on his skin, the beat of his heart against my chest.

A fleeting sense of emptiness settled in. A stark contrast to the physical high that still thrummed through my veins. It was like a sudden drop after a wild ride. But beneath that, there was also a brief, satisfying calm. The storm in my head had subsided. For now. The stress had been momentarily purged.

He moved to kiss my forehead. I turned my head slightly, avoiding it. This was not about tenderness. This was about release.

"Thank you," I murmured, my voice flat.

He nodded, understanding. He shifted, pulling himself off me. I sat up. My body was still trembling. I didn't linger. I gathered my clothes, quickly pulling them back on. I didn't look at him. I didn't want to see anything that might hint at connection. This was a transaction. A temporary fix.

I walked to the door of the bedroom. I glanced back. He was watching me. His expression unreadable.

"Goodbye," I stated.

He simply nodded. I walked out, pulling the door shut behind me. I needed to be alone. The city lights still glittered, but they seemed less harsh now. The ache was still there, a faint echo, but the immediate pressure had eased. It was enough. For tonight.
