Chapter 266 Do You Even Know How?

He first introduced the company's stock market situation, then began promoting stock purchases.

Anna, sitting nearby, started taking notes in her notebook after listening to his presentation.

As time passed, about five companies had introduced themselves one after another.

These five companies had completely different focuses, each with its own advantages.

Many people in the audience had already made their choices after hearing the presentations.

But most people, like Elena, chose to wait and see, not rushing to make a move.

Soon, the sixth company came up. This company specialized in interior design and had partnerships with numerous real estate developments.

Without exaggeration, it could be considered the most outstanding company to present so far.

After carefully comparing the data, Anna leaned toward Elena and spoke in a low voice.

"Ms. Elena, should we buy this one?"

"This company's revenue has been consistently strong lately. If we buy, we could probably make a good profit."

Hearing Anna's words, Elena shook her head, her expression unreadable. "Don't rush. We're just getting started. Let's keep watching."

Because they were seated very close to Jasmine—practically right next to her—she naturally overheard their conversation.

Seeing Elena hesitating, looking so indecisive, a flash of contempt crossed Jasmine's eyes.

"Elena, do you even know how to invest?"

"Being this wishy-washy isn't going to make you any money!"

"No wonder your little studio has been stuck in mediocrity. Your judgment is just lacking."

Hearing Jasmine's mockery, Elena showed no reaction, but Anna was furious. Her eyes widened as she glared at Jasmine.

"Jasmine, you—"

Elena stopped her, waving her hand to signal not to start an argument.

Anna was extremely unhappy, but seeing Elena's gesture, she said nothing more and sank back into her chair.

Jasmine rolled her eyes, then her gaze shifted craftily toward Emma beside her.

"Emma, why don't we buy this company? I think their stock is solid."

"Buy this one?"

Emma frowned, clearly hesitant. "It's been climbing for so long already. It could be nearing its peak. What if it drops right after we buy?"

Hearing Emma's concern, Jasmine disagreed and immediately began persuading her.

"How could that happen? I've looked at this company's financial reports before. Their revenue has been very stable—there's basically no way it'll drop."

"Besides, if a lot of people buy and they all make money, wouldn't we be the ones losing out?"

It had to be said, Jasmine was quite persuasive. That last sentence hit Emma's weak spot perfectly.

After a moment's thought, Emma seemed to make up her mind.

"Alright, I'll take your advice. Let's buy it."

A flash of triumph crossed Jasmine's eyes.

She cast a haughty glance at Elena, her mockery obvious.

"Elena, just you wait. After I make my money, let's see how you save face."

Her murmured words drifted into Elena's ears, causing no ripple whatsoever. She continued staring calmly at the screen ahead.

Soon, the seventh company took the stage.

The presenter appeared to be only about twenty-five. He first glanced at everyone, gave a slight bow, and began his somewhat awkward explanation.

"Our company primarily manufactures face masks. Starting a year ago, our sales began gradually declining..."

Perhaps because the numbers looked truly dismal, he grew less and less confident as he spoke, his head drooping lower and lower.

Elena had initially been leaning back in her chair, but after hearing his explanation and seeing the data on screen, she slowly sat up straight, a glimmer of interest in her eyes.

He soon finished his presentation, and it was time for people to purchase stock.

He stood on stage somewhat awkwardly, his eyes full of anxiety and discomfort.

Elena narrowed her eyes, looked at the data once more, then turned to Anna.

"Buy it. A hundred shares."

The instant those words left her mouth, before Anna could respond, Jasmine burst out laughing.

"A hundred shares? Of 'this' company? Elena, do you have so much money you don't know where to throw it? Can't you see this company is about to go bankrupt?"

"Elena, this isn't some playground where you can do whatever you want."

Ignoring Jasmine's mockery, Elena directed Anna to make the purchase.

Only after the payment went through did she turn with a cold smile toward the woman beside her.

"Tell me, Jasmine, what I buy seems like none of your business, right? I'm not spending your money."

"And if you're so capable, why didn't the Crawley family let you take over the company? Don't they trust you? Or do they think you're incompetent?"

"Out of everyone here, you're making the most noise over stock purchases."

"If you don't know what you're doing, let your brother handle it. Don't sit here losing money, buying worthless things. Watch out or Colton Group will go under."

"You—!"

Elena's words left Jasmine red-eyed with rage, her chest heaving. Just as she was about to lash out, the host timely intervened.

"Everyone has different preferences. Please purchase according to your own judgment. Others' suggestions are just for reference."

Hearing this, Elena snorted coldly. She glanced at Jasmine, pulled a card from her wallet, and handed it to the stock purchase assistant specially arranged for this event.

"Charge the card."

The assistant accepted the black card with both hands and immediately began processing the transaction.

Watching Elena's confident manner made Jasmine find her even more insufferable.

She gritted her teeth, as if struck by an idea, and burst into loud mockery.

"Honestly, I never imagined there'd be someone in this world so eager to throw their money away."

At those words, people around them immediately looked over, their gazes falling on Jasmine and Elena.

"Though I suppose Miss Chase is just being charitable, giving her money away for free. Otherwise, why would she be stupid enough to buy stock in that company?"

Jasmine gave a sarcastic laugh. "Honestly, anyone with eyes can see that interior design company from earlier was the best option."

"Obviously, if you bought that, you'd just be sitting back and collecting profits, right?"

"Whoever buys this one is a fool."

The company representative on stage, hearing Jasmine's words, immediately showed a look of shame and bowed slightly toward Elena.

"Ms. Elena, I'm so sorry, I—"

"It's fine. Business is like that—you win some, you lose some. If I lose, that's on me. It has nothing to do with you."

Elena waved dismissively, seeming completely unbothered.
