Chapter 240
Chapter 240
Faye nodded hard.
"I got it, Dad."
The flight to Emberlyn was supposed to take a long time, but with Faye's company on the plane, Sophia felt like time flew by.
Soon they arrived at Emberlyn airport and got off the plane together.
Faye looked at Sophia with reluctance written all over her face.
"Miss, we have to say goodbye now, don't we? I'm going to miss you so much. I don't know when we'll get to see each other again."
Seeing Faye looking so pitiful, Sophia felt bad too.
"Faye, you can take down my phone number. After you get back home, you can contact me. Whenever I have time, I'll definitely come out to meet you, okay?"
Hearing this, Faye's eyes lit up, her face full of excitement.
"Really? That's wonderful! I'll definitely contact you after I get back home."
After they finished talking, since Sophia didn't have a business card with her, she told Faye her phone number verbally. To her surprise, Faye memorized it right away.
"Goodbye."
Watching Faye and her dad leave, Sophia couldn't help feeling a bit down.
Earlier on the plane, with Faye making a fuss around her, she hadn't thought much about it, and it had temporarily helped her forget about Mia's passing.
But now that Faye had left and everything suddenly became quiet, Sophia couldn't help thinking about all sorts of messy things.
James saw Sophia looking down and smiled faintly.
"What's wrong? Don't tell me you can't bear to part with that girl? Don't worry, after we get back home, I'll arrange for you two to meet up."
Sophia nodded, then asked softly, "Where should we go first?"
She had only said she was coming to Emberlyn before, but hadn't done any planning at all. And now Sophia was quite worried, because this James was used to living comfortably, and usually had David by his side whenever he went out.
But this time there were only the two of them, and David wasn't with them at all. So Sophia felt a bit nervous, not knowing where to go after getting off the plane.
James glanced outside the airport and said directly, "I've already arranged for a driver to pick us up. Let's find a place to drop off our luggage first. If you're tired, we can rest first. If not, I'll take you shopping."
Hearing this, Sophia was slightly stunned. She turned to look at James, surprised that this seemingly pampered James had actually arranged everything in advance for their trip.
"How about it? Do you have any other plans? We can change our schedule anytime."
Sophia smiled.
"I'm a bit tired. Let's go rest first, then visit some tourist spots. There are many places I want to go."
Thinking about how she was already in Emberlyn now, Sophia still felt a bit excited.
Although she hadn't been in the mood to do anything since Mia's passing, when Mia was still alive, Sophia had always longed for Emberlyn.
She had researched all the attractions and places worth visiting in Emberlyn.
Seeing Sophia showing some interest, James became happy too.
He said calmly, "Okay, I'll take you to all the places you want to go."
While they were talking, the driver James had arranged arrived. After getting in the car, they went straight to the hotel. Sophia freshened up and then lay down on the bed and fell asleep.
She was exhausted from such a long journey, and James stayed by her side, sitting on the sofa by the bed, quietly working on his laptop.
Actually, the Smith Group was in complete chaos right now, but James still put all the company's work aside. He felt that nothing in the world was more important than Sophia.
So he could only work on company matters while Sophia was asleep.
Fortunately, David was very capable. As long as James worked on his laptop here, things at the company would be handled well.
After dealing with company matters, James looked at Sophia sleeping soundly on the bed and felt especially content inside.
He had lived half his life and been busy for so long, but it seemed that only after Sophia appeared did he understand the meaning of living.
In her sleep, Sophia's brows furrowed slightly, as if she was uneasy. Seeing this, James slowly lay down beside her and gently held her. Then Sophia settled down.
Because of the flight, Sophia felt especially tired. She slept for a long time today, and even the discomfort of jet lag was gone.
When she had slept enough and slowly opened her eyes, she immediately saw James.
She never expected that James had been watching over her the whole time she was sleeping.
Sophia looked sleepy at this moment, slowly opening her eyes and looking at James's handsome face, suddenly feeling especially at ease.
"James, have you been here the whole time?"
James had dozed off for a bit. Hearing Sophia's voice, he quickly opened his eyes, then said in his magnetic voice, "Yeah, I've been here the whole time."
Hearing this, Sophia felt inexplicably touched. She didn't expect James to be so gentle with her.
"I was afraid you wouldn't sleep well in a strange place, and I was worried you'd feel uncomfortable from jet lag, so I stayed here with you."
James quickly explained, afraid that Sophia would misunderstand him. After all, she had always thought he was a pervert.
Only then did Sophia realize that she had been sleeping in James's arms the whole time. She couldn't help frowning, suddenly feeling embarrassed.
"How did I end up sleeping in your arms?"
James smiled softly.
"I'm your husband. What's wrong with you sleeping in my arms? Wasn't it you who kept asking for a hug after you fell asleep last night?"
Hearing this, Sophia's face immediately turned red.
How could she possibly have made such a request? It was simply shameless.
"How is that possible? James, you're lying to me, aren't you?"
Seeing Sophia like this, James found it even more amusing.
"How could I lie to you? You were having a dream after you fell asleep last night, crying and saying you were scared, so I got into bed to stay with you. But don't get any wrong ideas. I didn't do anything. Instead, you were holding me so tight that I didn't even have time to go to the bathroom."
Sophia was slightly stunned. At this moment, she was still holding James. After coming to her senses, she quickly let go.
"Did I really say that last night? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. I disturbed your rest."
