Chapter 268 She Wants to Stay with Dad

Chapter 268 She Wants to Stay with Dad

"Quick, get him into the ambulance; he's not going to make it." Martin glanced coldly at Terry behind him.

Terry and the medical staff rushed over, putting a breathing mask on Hayden, who was lying on the ground. A nurse inserted a long, thin needle into Hayden's blood-stained hand.

Hayden was hooked up to an IV drip and lifted onto a stretcher.

A group of nurses frantically lifted Hayden into the ambulance.

Victoria and Aria both got into the ambulance.

Martin seemed to be forgotten.

The ambulance sped away, leaving him standing alone at the Gonzalez Villa.

Martin also drove, following behind the ambulance.

Inside the ambulance, with the breathing mask on, Hayden slowly opened his eyes.

"Dad, Dad, we're going to the hospital now, just hang in there!" Victoria bit her lip, tears of heartache welling up in her eyes.

Hayden looked at Victoria beside him.

Then he looked at Aria on the other side.

He patted Victoria's hand, then looked at his wife.

Hayden felt his eyelids getting heavier and heavier.

His body heat was gradually draining away.

Hayden looked reluctantly at his family one last time.

His eyelids grew heavy and closed.

The heart monitor, which had been showing slight fluctuations, suddenly started beeping an alarm.

The heart monitor instantly became a flat, straight line.

Hayden's arm dropped suddenly.

"Dad! Dad!" Victoria screamed.

Victoria quickly turned to Terry behind her: "Terry, save my dad, save my dad."

"Mrs. Collins, don't worry, I'll do my best." Terry had Victoria and the constantly crying Aria move aside, then began emergency measures.

The ambulance arrived at the hospital.

Hayden was rushed into the operating room.

Victoria paced back and forth frantically at the operating room door.

"Victoria, is your father really going to be okay?" Aria covered her mouth, her eyes swollen from crying, tears streaming down continuously.

"Mom, Dad will be fine. Terry is a really skilled doctor." Victoria wasn't sure herself, but she was still trying to comfort her mother.

Martin, wearing a dark suit, walked down the corridor.

The surgery went on for a long, long time.

Victoria and Aria waited there.

Martin walked over and said to her, "You and your mother should go eat first. I'll stay here."

Victoria stood there as if she hadn't heard, her back against the cold wall.

"There's nothing you can do here. You need to eat to keep your strength up. Go eat with your mother first. I'll call you if anything happens." Martin thought she hadn't heard, so he spoke again.

Aria glared at Martin and pushed him toward the other end of the corridor: "Who asked you to be here? How dare we let you stay? Your father-in-law is in this state because of you! Go, leave!"

Hearing this, Martin's anger instantly flared up.

How was this his fault?

What did he do?

What did he do wrong?

It was Victoria who asked him to come to the Gonzalez family for the reunion dinner. He was the one who was invited.

It was also Victoria and Aria who insisted on going shopping, leaving him alone with Hayden. He was the wronged one here.

Words can kill, and Martin deeply felt that today.

Martin didn't move, but he didn't fight back either—not because he didn't want to, but because he couldn't.

His face just grew darker.

Aria cried even harder, looking particularly miserable and desolate in the corridor.

"Martin, please leave. Don't stay here." Victoria looked wearily at Martin being pushed by Aria.

Martin stared straight at her, clenching his fists at his sides: "You don't believe me either?"

Believe him.

Victoria blinked her dry eyes. This was a deep question, and hard to answer.

She didn't want to waste energy thinking about this anymore.

"Whether I believe you or not doesn't matter anymore. What matters is, I don't think my dad would want to see you when he comes out of the operating room." Victoria's voice was soft and light.

And very weak.

Victoria sighed and pleaded, "Today is New Year's Eve. For the sake of our marriage, please leave. I only have my mom and dad. Dad is in the operating room now, his life hanging in the balance. I don't want my mom to have more trouble because of you."

Martin narrowed his eyes.

He didn't expect Victoria to say such cold words.

His already broken heart instantly plunged into the abyss.

Martin felt his heart shatter into pieces.

If words could kill, then Victoria was doing just that right now.

He must have been crazy to come here.

Martin had a temper, too.

He glanced coldly at Victoria, then at Aria: "You don't need to push me, I can leave on my own. Even if you beg me to come in the future, I won't."

After speaking, Martin turned coldly and walked to the elevator.

The elevator doors opened.

Martin stepped into the elevator.

The elevator doors closed.

Aria cried uncontrollably, nearly collapsing.

Victoria quickly supported her: "Mom, you should go back. I'm enough here."

"I can't stop worrying about your father." Aria cried: "A perfectly good New Year's Eve, ruined like this. Martin deserves to die."

Victoria looked at her worriedly: "I'll be fine here. I'll call you if anything happens. Mom, go back and eat, then come back to see me, and we can switch. We need to stay strong; otherwise, when Dad comes out and sees us broken down, he'll be sad."

Aria thought about it and nodded: "Then I'll go back and pack some clean clothes for your father, then come back to switch with you."

"Okay."

After Aria left,

Victoria sat on the bench.

She looked at her fingernails. They were pale white, without any half-moons.

She kept praying in her heart, hoping God would bless Hayden to get through this safely.

If she had known this would happen today, she would never have invited Martin to the family dinner, no matter what.

Victoria had been busy all day shopping and worrying about Hayden's health.

She had only eaten breakfast.

Because she hadn't eaten on time, Victoria's stomach suddenly felt very hungry and painful.

Acid started rising in her stomach.

She didn't leave the operating room area because she wanted to watch over Hayden, just like when she was sick as a child, and Hayden always stayed by her side.

Back then, Hayden was very busy, a famous entrepreneur.

When she had a cold and woke up, her father was always there beside her.

Her father only had one daughter—her. How could she not be there for him?

A full three hours passed.

It was now 11:40 at night.

Victoria had a long-lost feeling of hunger.

Her stomach felt empty with hunger.

The operating room door suddenly opened.

Victoria quickly stood up from the bench.

Hayden was wheeled out of the operating room.

A group of people came out, too.

Including Terry.

"Terry, how is my dad?" Victoria endured her hunger and rushed to Terry, asking.
