Chapter 267 Writing in Blood

Chapter 267 Writing in Blood

Heartbroken, helpless, desperate tears streamed wildly down Hayden's face.

He didn't want Victoria to humble herself like this, begging Martin.

Hayden reached out his bony hand, trying to pull Victoria back, wanting to wipe away the tears on her face.

"Martin, Martin, say something. Please say something." Victoria was half-kneeling on the ground, the cold wind blowing through her hair and the hem of her down jacket, the wind cutting her face like a razor blade.

Martin saw Victoria humiliating herself like this and got so angry his veins bulged. He forcefully dragged her up: "Get up!"

"Martin!" Victoria screamed hoarsely, her fingers clutching tightly at his suit. His suit was wrinkled from her grip, just like her heart.

Martin's face was so dark that it looked like water could drip from it. He gritted his teeth and said in her ear: "Terry will be here soon. If you don't get up now, don't blame me for suddenly changing my mind!"

Victoria stared with wide eyes.

Looking at Martin in shock.

So he had already called Terry.

Martin had called Terry when he saw Hayden fall from the balcony.

Counting the time, Terry was on his way and should arrive soon.

Victoria pressed her lips together.

An anxious, trembling voice reached her ears.

"Victoria, your father is calling you," Aria said through tears.

Victoria turned around, ran to Hayden, and knelt down beside him.

Hayden was trembling as he raised his palm.

Trying to wipe the tears from Victoria's face.

But he struggled, his hand couldn't reach Victoria's face.

Victoria quickly grabbed Hayden's hand and pressed it against her own face.

Her face was stained red with blood from his palm.

Hayden opened his mouth excitedly, his lips moving widely, trying to tell her to live well, to live well.

No matter what happens, don't do anything foolish, cherish your own life.

Victoria kept sobbing, her shoulders shaking constantly.

Worried that Victoria wouldn't understand what he meant, Hayden took his palm away from Victoria's cheek, then dipped his finger in his own blood and wrote a few words on the ground.

Study room.

Safe.

Letter.

After seeing this, Victoria immediately understood—her father had left her a letter in the study.

Perhaps because he was near death, Hayden had very little strength left. After writing these words, all his energy seemed drained.

He was gasping heavily, looking at Victoria, his nose was blocked, and he was breathing through his mouth.

Worried there wasn't much time left, he rested for a few seconds, then gathered his strength to write on the ground again: 'Password, birthday'.

"Dad, stop writing, rest for a bit." Victoria cried, holding Hayden in her arms.

But Hayden's body was getting colder and colder.

The strong wind kept blowing against their family of three.

Hayden's eyelids fluttered, opening and closing.

He felt his vision was blurring, as if Victoria was everywhere.

Victoria saw his eyeballs constantly moving around, as if searching for something.

Hayden's gaze wandered and finally landed on Aria. He opened his mouth anxiously, his tone urgent, though he struggled to move his lips.

He was telling Aria not to blame Victoria.

Victoria was their daughter, and no matter what happened, they shouldn't fight.

"Hayden, I know what you want to say. I understand everything. Victoria is our daughter, I won't blame her. When she suffers, I suffer more than anyone." Aria wiped her tears and said through sobs: "Rest for a bit, stop talking. The doctor will be here soon."

But Hayden didn't think so. He knew he couldn't be saved.

Falling from such a high balcony, even a miracle worker couldn't save him.

Hayden's gaze finally landed on Martin, who was standing behind Victoria.

Martin stood there straight in his dark suit.

Hayden reached out his hand, struggling to point at Martin.

This meant that he wanted Martin to come over; he had something to say.

Seeing his enemy in this state, Martin felt conflicted.

Was he happy? Not really. Was he disappointed? Not really, either.

A very complicated, very oppressive emotion kept spreading in his heart.

Given Martin's cold nature, he normally wouldn't have given this old man the time of day.

But he still walked toward Hayden with his long strides, step by step.

Then he crouched down.

Hayden reached out his hand, his blood-stained palm landing on Martin's hand, and patted it.

Staring hard at Martin, his eyes filled with pleading, anger, unwillingness, and helplessness.

Hayden called out anxiously.

He wanted to tell Martin stop living in hatred.

He was repaying the Collins family back with his life.

And he wanted Martin not to make things difficult for his wife and daughter.

He wanted everything to be blown away with the wind and for Martin to stop being trapped in grudges and revenge.

When Martin said nothing, Hayden grew so anxious that tears welled up in his eyes.

Breathing heavily, clutching Martin's hand tightly.

"Dad, stop talking, stop talking. Terry will be here soon."

Victoria saw Hayden's eyelids had closed, leaving only a small gap, showing the whites of his eyes.

"Dad, don't sleep. Terry is on his way, hang on! Hang on, Dad." Victoria cried anxiously, tears streaming down.

Aria also shook Hayden in Victoria's arms, crying and pleading: "Hayden, don't sleep, don't sleep. Look at me, look at me. Last time you slept for half a month. You can't sleep again, you just woke up not long ago!"

Aria and Victoria's cries made Martin feel extremely oppressed.

Martin called Terry: "Are you here yet? Hurry up."

"Almost there, almost there." Terry's voice came through the line.

The call ended.

Martin looked at Hayden, who was in pain, and said: "Terry will be here soon. Think about your daughter and wife. Hayden, don't be a coward."

Hayden gritted his teeth, holding on to his last breath.

He looked at Victoria, then at Martin, and finally at his wife.

He wanted to live too, but he no longer could.

The cost of living was too high. If he survived but Aria and Victoria had to bear the consequences, there was no point at all.

Hayden's consciousness gradually faded.

His eyes slowly closed.

His arm gradually dropped to the ground.

The cold wind blew even harder and more fiercely.

"Dad! Dad! Dad, wake up, Dad!" Victoria broke down, screaming.

Aria also cried out: "Hayden, Hayden, open your eyes, look at us. Today is New Year's Eve, it's the New Year!"

But no matter how they called or shouted, Hayden seemed to have fallen asleep, his eyes closed, showing no response.

Martin reached out his finger to check for breath at Hayden's nose.

"Mr. Collins, I'm late, there was traffic." An ambulance drove into the Gonzalez Villa, with its siren blaring. Terry and several medical staff jumped out of the vehicle and said respectfully.
