Chapter 135

Chapter 135

Victoria let out a bitter laugh. How ironic! She, the precious daughter of the Gonzalez family, had fallen so low that she didn't even have her personal freedom anymore.

She had wanted to go out for a walk, because the sun was really strong today. Winters in Emerald City were usually filled with endless rain or heavy snow.

It was rare to see such bright sunshine.

Kaida noticed she wanted to go out and suggested accompanying her for a walk in the garden outside the apartment.

"No need."

After Victoria spoke, she gripped her glass of warm water, turned around and went upstairs.

Kaida followed her up.

After preparing the meal, she brought it to Victoria.

Victoria just told Kaida to leave it there. Looking at the well-prepared dishes, she had absolutely no appetite.

The phone suddenly rang.

It was her doctor calling. She answered calmly.

The doctor sounded even more anxious than last time: "Ms. Gonzalez, your condition really can't be delayed any longer. You need to come to the hospital for an abortion right away! If you keep delaying, you'll lose your life!"

Hearing this, she felt extremely suffocated. Of course she knew she could lose her life, but she couldn't even leave this room.

Martin had made it clear - he wanted her dead. He probably didn't care about the baby in her belly; this was just a new way to torture her.

Victoria listened to the doctor repeatedly explaining the pros and cons. She didn't know what to say, and eventually hung up silently.

Kaida saw that the food she'd brought hadn't been touched at all and was a bit worried: "Ms. Gonzalez, no matter how angry you are with Mr. Collins, you can't skip meals. The baby in your belly needs nutrition."

"Even if I eat, the baby won't survive anyway." Victoria smiled bitterly.

Perhaps because her body was getting weaker, she had less and less appetite.

Whether she ate or not, it was a dead end either way.

What was the point of eating?

Victoria got up from the sofa and went to the master bedroom, hearing Kaida on the phone with Martin, reporting on her.

She sneered. It was normal. Kaida was Martin's spy. But she didn't blame Kaida. Everyone had their struggles in this world.

There was no need to make things difficult for Kaida.

At that moment, Martin was still in Skylake Village. Hearing Kaida's anxious voice on the phone, he didn't get angry, just said coldly that he understood.

Then he said a few more words and hung up.

He called Terry and ordered, "Cut off Hayden's medication."

"Mr. Collins, Mr. Gonzalez's condition just stabilized. Stopping his medication now would be extremely dangerous!" Terry sounded shocked on the phone.

Martin snorted coldly, "What? Can't I give you orders anymore?"

"Please don't be angry, Mr. Collins. I'll do it right away."

Victoria was sleeping soundly when she was startled awake by a clap of thunder.

She opened her eyes and heard the sound of pouring rain beating against the leaves.

Thunder rumbled continuously, making her pale face look even more ghostly.

Because she hadn't closed the curtains, and Victoria was most afraid of thunder, she wrapped a blanket around herself, got out of bed, and prepared to close the curtains.

But at the window, she saw a familiar figure kneeling in the heavy rain, soaked like a drowned rat.

Next to the figure stood a man in a suit, holding an umbrella.

Victoria thought she was seeing things and quickly rubbed her eyes, but when she looked again, that figure was still kneeling in the rain.

That figure was none other than Kaida!

Victoria hurried out of the master bedroom, then held onto the wooden railing as she went downstairs, grabbed an umbrella, and ran through the puddles to Kaida.

Kaida was completely soaked. Large raindrops slid down from her hair along her cheeks. She looked pitiful.

"Kaida, what are you doing? Get up quickly!" Victoria held an umbrella over her with one hand and tried to pull her up with the other.

But she didn't dare to stand up.

Victoria looked at Brian standing nearby and asked urgently: "Brian, what's going on? Why is Kaida kneeling here?"

"Mr. Collins said that since Kaida's cooking doesn't suit your taste, she needs to be punished. From now on, whenever you don't eat, she has to kneel here and beg you to eat."

"Whenever you're willing to eat, that's when she can get up." Brian pressed his lips together and repeated Martin's message.

Victoria was stunned: "I'm not eating because I have no appetite. It has nothing to do with her!"

"Mrs. Collins, it's raining hard outside. You should go back in! If anything happens to the baby in your belly, none of us here can escape responsibility!" Kaida wiped her tears and said: "Mrs. Collins, I'm just a servant. I chose to kneel myself. Mr. Collins gave me two choices - either resign or kneel and apologize to Mrs. Collins! My family's financial situation isn't great, so I chose this path myself!"

Kaida bit her lip: "It's my own fault for not being able to make food that Mrs. Collins finds appetizing. It's only right that Mr. Collins is angry!"

"After all, Mr. Collins pays much, much better than other places."

Victoria never imagined Martin could be this shameless!

Forcing her wasn't enough - now he was forcing Kaida to kneel too.

Victoria pulled out her phone and found Martin's number.

The phone rang, but he just wouldn't answer.

Clearly, he was doing this on purpose.

Brian looked at Victoria and suggested: "Mrs. Collins, why don't you eat first! Once you eat, Kaida can get up!"

Victoria had no choice. To keep Kaida from continuing to kneel, she could only turn around and go upstairs.

The food was in the microwave, ready to eat when taken out.

She video-called Brian, then in front of him, grabbed a bowl of food and stuffed it into her mouth in big bites.

But she felt so oppressed inside. Thinking about how Martin had pushed her to this point, and how she couldn't do anything about it.

Tears fell in large drops into the bowl, mixing with the rice as she ate.

Her stomach felt very full and bloated, but she was afraid Martin wouldn't be satisfied and would continue to torture Kaida, so no matter how upset she was, no matter how full her stomach felt, she still ate all the food until it was completely clean.

Not a single grain of rice left.

Kaida got up from the rain, then went upstairs to take a hot shower, changed clothes, and tearfully apologized to Victoria, saying she'd put her in a difficult position.

Brian watched as the lights in the apartment gradually went out, holding a black umbrella as he called Martin: "Mr. Collins, Mrs. Collins has eaten. But she's in a very bad mood. You should really try to comfort Mrs. Collins."

Martin said nothing and hung up.

He wanted to comfort her too, but he knew that if he did, she would just push for more.

Was it really so difficult to have her give birth to this child? She'd even gone on a hunger strike!

This child wasn't up to Victoria.

Whether she wanted to or not, she had to give birth.

Only when this child was safely born could their relationship return to what it was before!

Victoria didn't sleep well all night, always feeling something was going to happen.

Sure enough, early the next morning she received a call from Aria: "Victoria, did you fight with Martin again? Is he angry again?"

Victoria pressed her lips together, gripping her phone. Not wanting Aria to worry, she lied: "No, Mom, don't worry about it."

"Don't lie to me. Terry cut off your father's medication today. Did you know that?"
