Chapter 381
Chapter 381
Seeing Gloria suddenly appear, both Henry and Percy's expressions changed.
"Security!" Henry immediately moved to have her removed.
Percy said nothing, tacitly approving his approach.
But before the Brown family's people could get close, a reporter suddenly turned and challenged them. "Is the Brown family forcibly removing someone? Guilty conscience much?"
The security guards stood rooted in place, uncertain.
Henry couldn't say anything more, only glaring hard at Gloria, warning her not to lose it.
They'd never imagined this lunatic would actually track them down here.
Under everyone's watchful eyes, Gloria messily smoothed down her hair, revealing her face, then looked pitifully in Kaitlyn's direction.
"Mom," she called out, tears instantly welling up as if she'd suffered a terrible injustice. "I'm Glo. Don't you recognize me?"
Kaitlyn looked at her, then at Willow beside her, confusion filling her eyes.
What was happening?
She seemed to remember seeing that person outside before, but the one in front of her was her daughter...
"Glo," she murmured softly.
Willow's heart sank, but she immediately grasped Kaitlyn's hand reassuringly. "I'm right here."
Kaitlyn hesitated. "Are you Glo?"
Willow nodded.
"She's not!" Gloria walked forward. "Mom, I'm Glo. Don't you remember? When you were sick, I was the one taking care of you!"
As she walked, she made accusations to the reporters' cameras.
"That Willow is a fraud! She saw you were sick and confused, and wanted to take my place!"
"She's always been like this! She'll stop at nothing to climb the ladder! Same with her marriage to Charles! She married Charles just to seduce Sterling! Once Sterling took the bait, she couldn't wait to divorce Charles!"
"Can't you all see through her yet?" Gloria looked at Henry and Percy. "Dad, Henry, did she drug you? How can you believe her?"
"Shut up!" Percy roared. "You're the fraud! What exactly are you trying to do?"
Tears streamed down Gloria's cheeks, her voice choking. "Mom, Dad's yelling at me again..."
Watching her, Kaitlyn suddenly felt a wave of familiarity and instinctively stood up, walking toward her.
"There, there, I'll talk to him. Don't cry, Glo." Kaitlyn said as she walked. "I worked so hard to find you—I won't let you be wronged."
"Mom!" Henry immediately stood to stop her.
Kaitlyn pushed him away unhappily, reproaching him. "Your sister's crying. Can't you see?"
Henry gritted his teeth, knowing nothing he said now would help.
He turned to look at Willow, seeking her help.
Willow felt awful too and didn't think she could do this, but still stood up and walked over.
"Mom." She took Kaitlyn's hand.
Kaitlyn tried to pull away. Willow placed a silver locket in her palm. "Don't you recognize this? You put it beside me with your own hands when I was born."
Kaitlyn felt the texture in her palm, froze, and looked down.
Seeing the silver locket in her hand, she looked up at Willow before her.
"I know this." Her head suddenly throbbed painfully. "This is... the silver locket I specially got for Glo before she was born."
"You..." Kaitlyn finally recognized her daughter.
Over there, Gloria's hope shattered, her expression changing drastically.
"Mom, didn't you say you wouldn't let me be wronged?" she asked in a low voice.
Kaitlyn didn't respond.
Gloria's face instantly turned cold. "You liar!"
She rushed toward Kaitlyn. "You all ruined me like this, and you still want a family reunion? Dream on!"
"I won't let any of you off!" With those words, Gloria pulled out a sharp fruit knife from somewhere and viciously stabbed it toward Kaitlyn.
No one had time to react.
As the blade was about to touch Kaitlyn, gasps erupted throughout the venue.
Outside the livestream, Maria's eyes widened in terror. "Willow!"
Willow was the first to react, but it was already too late. The only thing she could do was forcefully pull Kaitlyn behind her.
Willow's entire body was now exposed to Gloria's blade.
The knife plunged deep into Willow's chest, right where her heart was.
"Die!" Gloria's eyes filled with murderous intent.
"Glo..." Kaitlyn snapped back to reality. "Willow!"
She rushed forward, shoving away Gloria's hand gripping the knife handle, then held Willow in her arms, tears streaming down uncontrollably. "Are you okay? It's my fault—I reacted too slowly..."
Gloria tried to attack again, but Henry charged forward and kicked her hard, sending her flying.
Gloria flew ten feet, sprawling ungracefully on the ground. Before she could react, Percy roared again, "Arrest her now!"
Several guards rushed forward and pinned her firmly to the ground.
The scene descended into chaos.
"Dad, take Willow to the hospital." Henry made the call decisively. "I'll handle things here!"
Without needing to be told, Percy was already arranging a car.
Soon, Percy left with his wife and daughter.
Willow's blood still stained the venue.
Henry's eyes were red. He turned and roared at the reporters still livestreaming, "Get the hell out!"
The Lancaster Group.
Sterling was in a meeting when suddenly he felt inexplicably anxious.
Sterling hastily ended the meeting. Blake walked up to him with a grave expression.
"Mr. Lancaster, something happened to Ms. Spencer."
Sterling suddenly felt dizzy, steadying himself against the wall. "Where is she now?"
Just as he spoke, Percy's call came through. "Have your hospital people on standby. I'm bringing Willow there right now!"
Sterling took a deep breath. "Okay."
After hanging up, he contacted the hospital while striding downstairs.
Blake hurried after him, sliding into the driver's seat before him. "I'll take you there."
Sterling's heart pounded violently. He nodded silently.
When they reached the hospital, Willow had already been sent into emergency surgery.
Percy and Kaitlyn stood in the hallway outside the emergency room, each looking worse than the other.
"It's all my fault. Willow got hurt saving me..." Kaitlyn kept blaming herself.
Percy worried about his daughter while comforting his wife. "No, it's my fault. I wasn't thorough enough in my planning. Willow will be fine."
He should have sent people to monitor that fraud's movements in advance.
He'd failed to consider that possibility.
Seeing Sterling arrive, Percy met his gaze. Both men's eyes held a trace of reproach—blaming the other for not protecting Willow, blaming themselves for the same.
But neither spoke.
Willow was still in surgery. Nothing they said now would help.
Besides, the person they most needed to answer to wasn't each other.
It was Maria.
Maria must have seen the livestream footage just now.
