Out decision is final

Out decision is final
Rachel's POV

Ethan looked as guilty as ever, so when Si... I meant my dad kept blaming him, it both looked and sounded like it really was his fault.

"I'm sorry." He apologized with his head down.

No, I was the only one allowed to blame him for reasons best known to me, no one else.

My chest tightened and I shook my head, slowly stepping away from my mother. "It's not his fault."

"How is this not his fault? All because of him you were exposed to such a dangerous woman!" My father refused to budge on his accusation. He keeps a stern look and a finger at Ethan.

Just seeing the way he looked so guilty... For fuck sake, you're a man; deny the darn things. It wouldn't really even be called denial since it was not true in the first place.

Lenora must have noticed my discomfort because she left my side and went to stand beside her husband. "Honey, it's alright."

"We can't keep blaming Ethan until we hear the entire story." She said calmly, but then she turned towards Ethan, and her calm smile disappeared. "Seriously though what happened with her head?"

Seeing that if Ethan answered truthfully he might get himself into my trouble, I spoke first.

"That's my fault. I should have known I wasn't strong enough but yet I decided to take her on, on my own."

But how would I have known that a maid would be so strong?

"Who?" Lenora panicked, and so did Simon beside her. "Olivia?"

"No..." I put out my hands in front of me while shaking them. " Not Olivia, her informant".

Nope, shouldn't have said that!

My parent's face became even more disturbed.

"There is an informant in the house?!" My mother yelled in shock.

Simon turns again to stare at Ethan. "All the more reason we should take Rachel away from here. She's not safe."

"Take who? What?" I blinked twice staring at all the three people in the room with confusion.

They were worried, that was natural but what did they mean by 'take Rachel away'? Where to?

"Rachel honey," Lenora walked back towards me and held hands in hers while occasionally glancing at the bandage on my head. "You're not safe here, and we can't risk losing you again, so..."

"So?" I asked impatiently.

"Just before you came around, we were discussing with Ethan about taking you away from this place." She said slowly.

What? No!

I jerked my hands away from hers and turned towards Ethan. "And you agreed to this?" I asked in disbelief.

'She said discussing, not discussed, and have arrived at a decision '

But still, I wanted to hear Ethan's thoughts. He had been quiet all through the conversation, only chipping in a few words like 'I'm sorry'

"Ethan!" I roared his name and he raised his gaze from the ground and at me.

" No ". He answered with a small sigh.

I was about heaving a breath of relief but then I heard his next words.

"Not yet."

Not yet? Not yet! So he's agreeing to this?!

"What do you mean by not yet? It's a no and that's final. I can't leave, most especially not now."

It would be complete bullshit if I leave now. Hannah would use it to taunt me even more.

'You should have left when I asked you to, but now, after you've caused a lot of problems, you want to leave? ' I could already hear Hannah's mocking voice in my head.

If there was anything I wanted right now, it was not to allow Hannah to have anything to mock me with.

"Rachel this is the best thing." My dad spoke up, for the first time to me since I came.

"Best thing? The best thing for who?" I scoffed in surprise." Look, I can't leave. A young child has been taken captive just because of me and you want me to run away?"

Jake was my responsibility right now; I couldn't leave; I just couldn't!

Lenora shook her head firmly. "You're not running away, honey; you're protecting yourself."

"Look at yourself," she pointed at the bandage on my head with a concerned look. " You're already injured so much, we can't have you getting more hurt."

My point would have been better made if that sly witch of a maid didn't bang my head so much to the point it would require a bandage. Even before coming here, I had contemplated severally on whether to remove it or not but then decided against it.

I had thought it was top minor to take the risk of it getting infected; now I wished I had just listened to myself and taken the darn thing off.

Or at least even worn a cap to hide it, because my mother was making a valid point with it, and also it hurts.

I took in a deep breath and let it out slowly, calming myself. "Mother," I began in a calm voice.

"I understand your point, but there's a little boy out there who is away from his mother and that's because of me. I can't just leave him alone and run away just to save myself."

"Jake is not alone."

Ethan's deep low voice made me snap my head towards him.

"I agree with your parent's decision; it's too dangerous for you here."

I slowly blinked twice.

What the fuck did he just say?

Just when I thought I was getting somewhere in convincing my parents about their decision, Ethan just ruined everything.

This wasn't even his decision to make. It wasn't his call!

"Too dangerous? What's the possible worst that Olivia can do to me again? She already has ruined my new career and my life have you all forgotten she... "

"But she can also take it; your life, she can also take it." Simon, my father interrupted.

He gave me a small smile with a furrowed brow as he took a few steps towards me, passing his wife in the process. "Rachel, we only want the best for you. We don't want to lose you again."

Their reasons were good, but I wasn't leaving.

I shook my head defiantly. "I'm sorry, but I can't leave."

"Rachel this is not up for arguments," Ethan said, his voice sounding too calm.

It was the calmness of his voice that irked me the most.

How could he be so calm when my parents said they were taking me away? He was not only calm, he was also pushing me towards them.

"You can't decide for me, Ethan. " I said looking at him. "You have no right to control me or tell me what to do. "

"But we do". Simon spoke, yet again using my words against me.

But they didn't count, right?

"I only found out about the existence of you both less than a week ago; you also don't have any right to make me do anything."

Lenora's face dimmed with a frown. "We are your parents Rachel, and that's a fact."

"No parent would want to see their child get hurt and we are no different."

That's still doesn't mean you can freaking control me! I screamed in my head.

In just a few days, I would be twenty-six, I wasn't a baby who needed to be protected, but Jake was.

Ethan let out another sigh. "Rachel, you're really not doing much here anyway. Olivia would not stop until she hurts you, I can't bear to see you any more hurt than this."

I blinked back the tears that had begun to form in my eyes.

Yes, I wasn't blind to know my presence wasn't helping, but I still wanted to be here. I wanted to see it through.

"Do you think that this decision isn't hurting me?"

As I stared at Ethan's deep blue eyes, all I could see there was frustration and pain.

"I love you, Rachel, with every fiber of my being; that's why I know this would be the best option for you, to get you away from all this."

The sincerity of his voice moved me to tears.

"But..."

I shook my head and tried to argue but my stern

Gaze Simon gave me made the rest of the words I wanted to say return back to my throat.

"Rachel we've made our decision, and that decision is final."
