There's another way
There's another way
Rachel's POV
"Just how mentally and physically strong can a lady be?" I complained for the tenth time as I opened the fridge, grabbing a bottle of water from it.
It's been two hours. Two fucking hours of beating the shit of whatshername but yet she refused to say nothing.
How could a person be so loyal to another?
The only good part of all this was that I get to beat the bitch who was strapped in a chair, and I would have enjoyed it also if it wasn't for the fact that we were running out of time.
"So, how's your plan going?" Hannah said from behind me in a mocking voice.
I turned to look at her with a tight smile. " Why not you have a go at her? Oh, I forgot you just came out of the room where the maid's kept. I should be asking if you got anything". I snapped back at her.
For the last few hours, Hannah has just been looking for ways to make me feel guilty for her son, and what I hated the most was that it was working.
"Can you both please just cut it? " Marina walked up to the both of us and stood in our middle. Not as if we were going to fight anyways, I was too weak for that kind of shit right now, plus the back of my head was hurting like crazy.
"Olivia your son is missing, we get it, but that doesn't give you the right to keep blaming Rachel for it. If we are going to find Jake we have to work together."
"Marina is right." Mark also walked into the kitchen.
Remaining Ethan and then it would be a fucking meeting again.
I scoffed taking another sip from the bottle of water in my hands.
" We've been trying to get something out of that girl for a few hours, but she seems pretty adamant about not talking. " He explained.
Of course, I knew that; I came out of that room with Hannah just a few minutes ago.
" So what do you want us to do? Fucking play nice with her? Or even offer her ice cream and a way out? "I sarcastically asked driving from the bottle again.
Marina gave me a hard stare. " No. But what if we had been going around this entire interrogation all wrong?"
Wrong? Was there a right way to do it?
" So there's a right way to do it?" Hannah asked the question in my mind, and I also looked towards Marina, waiting for her explanation.
"Alright then, I'm listening". I said crossing my hands while giving my best friend my undivided attention.
Marina glanced back at Mark, who urged her to speak, so she did. " This lady thinks she's doing Ethan a favor by getting you out of his life right?"
" And I don't disagree with her, but just why kidnap my son to do that? " Hannah answered and asked seriously.
I took all the self-control I had in me not to turn around and glare at the bitch to hell.
She really hated me for her brother, and was she not scared to show it.
" Would you at least let her finish Hannah? " Mark scolded and I muttered a thank you before returning my gaze to Marina.
" Since Ethan is the main person this entire thing is for, whyn't you just go in to talk to her? I mean, we all have tried and have beaten the shit out of her to our liking, but we still don't know anything. "
I nodded my head after pondering about it for a few seconds.
Marina was right.
That bitch did say she was doing her boss a favor; maybe if her boss asks nicely, she would just give up Olivia's location.
"I'll go call him. " I muttered dropping the bottle of water on the nearest counter.
"No, I'll call him. " Hannah stopped me almost immediately. " He is my brother and Jake is my son, so I'll go tell him. ".
Jesus, when was this thing even a competition?
"Well, he's my boyfriend, and the both of us are at the center of this entire shit, so I'll call him." As much as I hated to argue like a four-year-old with Hannah, I just also couldn't let her have the last say.
" From the last time you, u checked you both are not together"
" For God's sake, you too!" Marina almost screamed in irritation.
Well, she started it.
" Rachel, you go, Hannah, stay here with me. I'll get you a cup of coffee". Mark spoke supporting Marina.
I smiled triumphantly at Hannah wiggling my brows at her.
My feet moved towards the exit, and I was about to leave when I thought of something. I turned back to look at Mark.
" Where's Ethan anyways? Also, why did you agree with me?"
It wasn't that Mark and I weren't on good terms, but I doubted if he liked me that much to the point of supporting me.
I noticed Marina's eyes widen, but then she masked them and returned her face to a neutral expression.
But it was too late, I could already tell something else was up.
" What's going on? " I asked taking a few steps away from the door. My heart froze when I thought of a probability "Is Ethan in some kind of trouble?"
Was Hannah right about him getting too paranoid to the point of developing high blood pressure, and now he's sick and was hiding it from me?
My heartbeat came back, and so did my breathing, but it became erratic.
I would never be able to forgive myself if something really did happen to him.
" Uhm..."
So he was in trouble?
" Is he alright? Is he sick? Did I do..."
"Relax, Rachel, breathe," Marina immediately said when she noticed I had begun to hyperventilate. " Nothing is wrong with Ethan and he's not in that kind of trouble. "
My breathing slowly began to come down, and in a matter of seconds, it was back to normal. I heard Hannah hiss at me but I ignored her.
So he wasn't in that kind of trouble, that's good, but which type of trouble was he in then?
"What these two dunderheads are trying to say is that my brother is in the sitting room"
That's not so bad...
" With your parents"
I thought too soon.
...
As I got closer to the sitting room, my already calm heart began beating erratically again.
What were they doing here?
That was the question that had been ringing in my head from the minute Hannah mentioned the Nielson's, I meant my parents.
I hadn't seen them since a few days ago and was scheduled to meet them again in the next two days.
Yes, I had a schedule for meeting my parents.
Apart from the fact that it was and still is unbelievable, I didn't want to bother them with my problems, especially the one I was facing right now with Olivia.
" Lenora... I mean mum ". Immediately corrected as I came face to face with the unaging beauty who stood next to Simon Nielson, her husband, my father.
"Rachel, my dear ". She ran towards me and wrapped her warm hands around my neck, bringing me closer to her. " Are you alright, my darling?" Lenora asked, pulling away from the hug and looking at my face.
She let out a low gasp when she pushed away a few strands of my hair from my face and saw the bandage wrapped around my head.
After the ' meeting ' in Ethan's office, Marina applied first aid to the wound at the back of my head and also wrapped it in a bandage to stop it from bleeding.
"What is this? What happened to you?" She asked with worry, her eyes turning red.
Simon at the back also saw the bandage and immediately glared at Ethan who still has that look of guilt on his face. " What did you do to our daughter?! "
