It's your son

It's your son
Rachel's POV

Could it be that she left her meeting with her parents, which took a long time to set up, just because of me?

" You don't have to be here. " I said emotionally pulling away from the hug.

Marina smiled softly, gently shoving my shoulders. " I heard the mischievousness in your voice, so I knew something was going on in your head, and when I called back a few minutes later, and there was no answer, I got worried, so I had to come down to check on you. "

" Thankfully, I did; how are you doing? What happened? "

" What happened? " Hannah sharply interrupted me as I opened my mouth to explain. " What happened is that this friend of yours made it possible for Olivia to kidnap my son!" She shouted pointing a finger at me.

" Not again ". I muttered crossing my hands on my chest.

"Isn't Olivia your friend?" Marina bluntly asked catching Hannah by surprise. She sure as hell didn't expect Marina to just call her off like that. She had probably thought Marina would see her as the victim and blame me too.

She doubted the power of true friendship, probably because she got Olivia as a friend.

' Shit burn! '

" Can you all just stop it?" Ethan spoke up before Hannah would. " With every second you all spend arguing, we just keep wasting time, and Jake's life is drawn even closer to danger. " He said standing up from his chair with Mark right beside him.

" Hannah, if you want to blame anyone for this, blame me and not Rachel ". He said calmly.

I snorted rolling my eyes.

' Duh? Who else was to blame? '

Alright, let's say Ethan wasn't to blame, but neither was I. But if there were to blame someone between me and Ethan, then well... I blame Ethan.

He was the one who brought me into his life, unconsciously I may add. He was also the one who made me fall for him to the point I never wanted to leave, and lastly, he was the one who didn't notice Olivia's feelings on time so he could put an end to it before she turned into this obsessed monster.

So see?

Ethan was also at fault here.

" Hannah calls Olivia, " Ethan said again, looking at the confused Hannah, who had her brows raised; then he turned towards Mark. " You got your laptop with you? " He then brushed his statement off. "Never mind, you'll just use mine. We need to find Olivia so we'll find Jake. It's time to get that bitch once and for all... " He said with a glint of determination in his eyes.

" That's all good and all, but why do I have to be the one to call her? " Hannah asked breaking up the heroic silence moment.

I nodded at her question before glancing at Ethan, waiting for his answer.

That was the exact thing I had wanted to ask, but I didn't want to just ruin Ethan's moment.

" Rachel has been the one conversing with that psycho all this while, why can't she do it?"

I rolled my eyes, not at her question but at her tone.

She was right though, " As much as I hate to admit it, Olivia is right. Why can't I call her?"

She would probably answer my call to gloat in my ears that she was all worried and how an accomplice was working for her in Ethan's mansion.

Thinking of that, I had to find that person fast the person finds out what we're trying to do and inform her. I thought, looking around the room and then at the door before looking back at Ethan.

"Ethan, this room is soundproof right?"

Ethan looked confused at my question but answered me nevertheless. " It is."

"Hannah, Olivia is too smart." Ethan began. " If Rachel calls her, she would easily guess that the call is being tracked, but you call her..."

"She would just think you're begging for your son ". I completed.

Uhm... That was smart.

So does that mean Ethan couldn't hack?

Ethan moved away from his chair and motioned to Mark to go sit there.

Mark asked staring at the seat skeptically. " Why can't you do it? We both know you're the better hacker between both of us ".

Ok, just got the answer to my question there. Who was I kidding? Of course, he would know how to hack; how wouldn't he.

The guy was just too perfect, he definitely knew how to do everything. I mentally rolled my eyes.

" I don't think I'm in the right state emotionally right now to do this ". He answered before glancing at his sister. Though he was very good at hiding it, I could see he was also panicking. He was also worried about Jake and, by extension, his sister.

He moved away and Mark sat on his chair. " Anytime you're ready"

Hannah sniffled wiping her tears. " Alright". She said as she fumbled to take out her phone from her pocket. We all went silent as Hannah punched the numbers on her phone, but then suddenly, she stopped.

" What if she doesn't pick?"

Argh... For fuck sake!

Just as I was about to speak, Marina spoke up beside me.

" How would you know that if you don't call her? Just so you know, this is your son. We're talking about her? " Marina sharply said.

Mark shot her a stare which she ignored.

My lips just hooked up in a smile, she was indeed my best friend.

Marina's words probably hit a nerve because Hannah instantly clicked the call button and placed the phone on her ears, her hands trembling slightly.

" I'm set; let's just wait for her to answer," Mark affirmed giving Hannah a thumbs up.

For the first few rings, we all held our breath as we waited for the fish to take the bait.

By the time the phone rang for the fourth time, Olivia's question began to make sense in my head.

What if Olivia really didn't answer?

How were we going to get her then?

Is that how we'll just lose Jake or would I really be forced to be apart from Ethan just so that bitch would be happy?

Just when I was starting to think all hope was lost, the call got connected.

The bitch finally picked.

"Oh god," I muttered releasing the breath I had been holding all this while.

"Hello? Olivia, where is my son?" Hannah said immediately to the phone.

She had the phone on loudspeaker so we could hear what Olivia said from the other side of the phone while Mark buried his head in the laptop,, clicking away.

"Ana, I told you didn't I?"

Told her? Told her what?

"I told you I was going to get my way, yet you... You refused to listen to me. You even went ahead to betray me and tell Ethan about everything!" Olivia yelled.

Though I was a bit far from Hannah, I could still hear Olivia's malicious voice from the phone very clearly.

She knew.

How the fuck did she...

My eyes went back to the door.

I only found out Ethan knew a few hours ago; if Olivia already knew to the point of planning this entire kidnapping, it only meant that her informant must have overheard Hannah telling Ethan. That was the only reasonable reason!

"Is it possible that this study isn't entirely soundproof?" I whispered to no one in particular, my eyes still glued to the door.

I whispered for two reasons, one because I didn't want Olivia to hear my voice from the phone, and two... If my guess was right, the rat or mole would be listening in on our conversation right now.

Marina looked confused as she traced my line of sight to the door.

"Why are you whispering?" She whispered back.

I glanced back at Hannah, who also had her eyes on me, and gestured for her to continue with her phone call.

"Olivia please, Jake has nothing to do with this..." She pleaded after giving me a curt nod. I could tell she at least had an idea of what was going on in my head.
