He knew
He knew
Rachel's POV
The fact that Ethan kept such a big thing away from me made my heart tighten and I felt it hard to breathe.
What was so even expecting? That because he said he loves me he would tell me everything?
As Hannah has said, it was a family matter, so it probably didn't concern me. Who was I to him anyway?
Though we both had confessed our feelings to one another, we were yet to make anything official. I was not his girlfriend, so he owed me nothing.
"Rachel... Rachel ". Ethan practically ran into the house and towards me, immediately holding my shoulder with his big hands as soon as he was close enough, checking my body for any bruises.
" Are you alright? What happened?" He asked immediately.
" Your sister " I pushed his hands off me before looking at Hannah with pursed lips. " It's her son who got kidnapped. You should be comforting and be worried about her, not me ". I said curtly before walking back towards my untouched drink.
I just found out that Ethan kept a huge secret away from me and yet he was acting all lovey-dovey towards me. What the hell. Did he think me for?
" Is everything okay?" Ethan asked his eyes darting between his twin and me.
Hannah got up from the floor and rushed towards him before shoving him with her hands, but that did little to no damage and he didn't even budge.
" This is also your fault!" She yelled.
" If you had just listened to me and chosen to protect both me and Jake, your freaking family, my son, won't be missing right now!" She cried hitting his chest.
Ethan's eyes widened, and he looked toward me. I snorted, looking away.
He was probably surprised at my attitude. He thought I didn't know.
I took another sip of the content in my glass shaking my head.
'Deep breaths, Rachel, you can't let your anger show,' I inwardly warned myself, forcing myself to take deep breaths while I bit down on my lips.
What hurt me so much was the fact that he looked as if he never wanted me to even find out, guess he really trusted me. I snorted again.
After a while, Ethan held his twin shoulders and forced her to look at him. "Hannah calm down. Let's talk," Hannah shook her head as tears streamed down from her face.
"I can't lose my son, Ethan, please " She begged.
I know it's a terrible thing to say at a time like this, but Hannah looked really miserable and pathetic.
Her hair was disheveled, her make-up smudged, and her eyes were swollen.
As much as I hated it, I pitied her.
I loved Jake too, but Hannah was his mother. She must be devastated right now. Yet I was mad about her wanting the best for herself and her son.
She had every right to be selfish; I would have probably done the same, too.
Who I should be mainly mad at was Ethan. He was the one who said he loved me, he was the one who said he trusted me, yet he was also the one who hid something this big away from me.
"Rachel, let's go to study." I heard Ethan say, and I blinked, looking up at him.
Now, he wanted to command. I scoffed inwardly and crossed my hands, but I eventually followed him and Hannah to his study.
"Here," Ethan said, giving Hannah a glass of water before sitting down on the huge chair directly opposite hers.
I just stood by the side, staring at the ceiling to avoid looking at Ethan.
If I did, he would probably be able to make out the anger and disappointment from my eyes.
"Rachel has to get back my son," Hannah said breaking the silent tension.
I snapped my head towards her sending her a glare.
" Am I the one who kidnapped him?"
What was wrong with this lady? Here I was thinking of reasons why I shouldn't blame her but no, she was desperate trying to convince me otherwise.
"If you hadn't come back to my brother's life, none of this would have happened. "
I scoffed rolling my eyes. " You heard yourself right? You said 'come back ' which meant I knew him before that psychotic best friend of yours. "I retorted.
" And also, I didn't come back to his life; he saved me from mine. "
" Is that now a valid reason for you to want to destroy his? " She turned in her seat to face me.
She looked a lot more calmer than before, but her words were as sharp as anything.
Don't want to sound wicked or anything, but I preferred her when she was still sobbing and blaming me; at least she had no reason to back it up.
" Destroy his life? How am I doing that? You were the one who did something wrong and now Olivia is using it against you. She even kidnapped your son! "
" And that's because I refused to just help her get you out of my brother's life! " She yelled back at me.
" Enough!!! "Ethan's loud roar made me break the staring, I meant, glaring contest both me and Hannah had going on, and we both turned to face him.
"Can someone just explain to me in clear terms what the fuck happened?!"
Now that brings us back to the present situation.
I brought my gaze down and looked at the ground.
I flinched a bit at the loudness of Ethan's voice but kept my stand, refusing to let my fear show.
" What's going on here is that your sister, " I pointed at Hannah. " Is blaming me for Olivia kidnapping her son. "
"I'm sure by now you must know that Olivia is behind everything bad that happened to me, from Lana's death to what happened in prison. "
I don't know why I still held on to the hope that maybe, just maybe he didn't know, but that hope got dashed as soon as I said those words.
Ethan's expression didn't change one bit.
I nodded to myself taking in a breath.
" You already know?" I asked weakly, blinking multiple times to avoid crying.
Why was I so emotional these days.
That was when Ethan's expression changed to one of shock. Not shocked because he was just finding out, but shocked because I just found out that he knew.
" I wanted to tell you but..."
"It's fine. " I shook my head, refusing to allow Ethan to finish his flimsy excuse.
"Can you both just stop this?" Hannah yelled, and I looked toward her.
I had even forgotten that she was also here.
"The priority now is finding my boy and that's it. Nothing more."
Yeah, she was right.
I nodded again before looking away and bringing my gaze back to the floor.
I couldn't even imagine how she was feeling right now. Her son was missing, which was because of me, and here I was, arguing with her brother about something that wasn't even important.
"Are you sure it's Olivia?" Ethan asked after a while, his tone a lot more calmer.
Did he think I was lying? Or did he not believe that Olivia could take it. His sister's son
I raised my head and narrowed my eyes at him. " Who else would it be?" I retorted.
The bitch even had the guts to call me. Of course, I'm sure it was her, but there was no way I was giving Ethan that much information; I was way too mad.
"Fine then." Ethan affirmed then he turned to Hannah." Call her then."
The sound of knocking interrupted Hannah's reply to her brother. I brought my gaze to the door as it opened and Mark and Marina walked in.
"Rachel, are you alright?." Marina walked up to me and gave me a tight hug which I returned.
"I feel a lot better now," I answered with a smile even though she couldn't see it since I had her entrapped in the hug.
The huge felt warm and comforting, something I really needed right now.
Then a thought flew into my head all of a sudden.
Wasn't Marina supposed to be with her parents right now?
