Chapter 107 I don’t Understand Bella

Chapter 107 I don’t Understand Bella
Jasmine’s POV

Why do I feel that this whole definition wasn’t just about Xavier proving a point, but mostly about me.

Seeing him standing in front of everyone, fearless and boldly declaring that I am art, I just realize that he’s one of the biggest blessings life has given me.

Maybe to compensate me for my loss or pain, but whatever it is, I am glad and grateful Xavier happened.

Miss Felicia couldn’t believe her ears and eyes, cause now her mouth is wide open, but she can’t say anything.

She’s always been of the opinion that our school rewards sports competence over academics, hence she’s been a little biased about our rugby players.

She never misses a day to talk down on them, especially pointing out how dumb they can be outside the field.

That’s why I had a different perspective of Xavier when I first met him, and I love the fact that people can also see this part of him now.

Although he doesn’t know this, he didn’t just prove a point for himself, but for the rest of the team.

That’s a true captain and lover, standing right there.

She must have thought today was the perfect day to prove her point after seeing Xavier here, but I guess things don’t always go as planned.

“So whenever you see her, appreciate the fact that she’s a priceless piece of art.”

He finally adds, before bowing.

The applause grows louder, coupled with screams and cheers, and I can only hope this doesn’t last just for today.

“Maybe he isn’t that bad after all.” Bella mentions, her eyes fixated on him.

I only hum in response, watching as he approaches us with a victorious smile.

“Did I make you proud?” He asks, sitting beside me.

Although I’m not in the best position or mood to joke, I still taunt him,

“Don’t flatter yourself.”

He puts on a hurt expression, before whining,

“Come on, cut me some slack, princess.”

“Did you go out there just to make me proud?”

“Well, I meant every word of it, and yes, to make you proud as well. So give me my credit.”

He demands, and I burst out laughing, while wiping off my tears.

He reminds me of a child demanding candy that he thinks he’s earned.

“Jasmine can be tough sometimes, but you’ll get used to it.” Bella interjects, and I just stare at her.

I still don’t know how to feel about Bella.

Some part of me wants to look past it and acknowledge her support, and just forgive her, but there’s this invisible line between us that I feel like I shouldn’t cross at all.

I’ve never fully understood her, even when we were close, and it looks like she’s deliberately giving me mixed signals.

Trust me, I want to let go and welcome her back, cause this is one of those times I really need a true friend.

There are just buts.

“I was just telling her how lucky she is to have found you.” She continues. “You really do love her.”

Xavier pauses, looking at me skeptically, before answering her,

“I am the lucky one here, and yes, I love her a lot.”

An indescribable emotion flashes through her features for a split second before she’s back to smiling.

“After Fred, Xavier was really needed to completely heal you.”

Exactly my point.

One moment, she’s sweet, the next, there’s this sugar-coated bitterness that drips out.

Xavier wants to reply, but I cut him off.

“Xavier didn’t heal me from Fred. He isn’t some kind of rebound.”

“I never said that.” She claps back instantly, with a sharp tone.

This would only lead to a fight, and today already started so well, for it to turn out like this.

“Okay.” I dismiss, resting my head on Xavier’s shoulder.

I can’t wait for this class to be over so I can properly rest, and sort out my emotions.

My foster mom tried to talk me into resuming therapy, but the thought of that book, which I’m sure holds a lot about me, scares me.

I don’t want any more to be added and recorded there. I’m sure I can finally heal, I just need to allow myself to do that.

“I’m glad the rumors have been cleared, but I’m still curious to know who posted that picture.” She starts with a random topic.

“What do you think, Xavier?”

Xavier looks at me again, and I just pretend to sleep.

I can’t handle any more as it stands.

“They’ll find the person.” He shrugs, rubbing my thigh.

“My thoughts have been running wild lately, who would want to bring Jasmine down so badly to carry out such a stunt?” She ponders, but I’m sure she has more to say.

“Chloe.”

My head snaps up, and Xavier’s face turns white.

Chloe?

I haven’t heard that name in a long while.

Why and how did she get to such a conclusion?

“Hear me out.” She starts, adjusting in her seat to face us, and oddly, this piques my interest.

“Given your guys’ relationship dynamics and how things ended between you two, she could have something against Jasmine.”

“Don’t go around accusing people.” I dismiss, trying to calm my racing heart.

A lot is happening already, and I’m sure she could read the room, why would she bring up someone like that, knowing how much we suffered under that person.

But it doesn’t look like she’s giving up on this, and I don’t know if she’s deliberately trying to make us both uncomfortable…

“I’m sure you haven’t heard anything from her since you broke things off with her, what if…”

“Not possible.” Xavier says coldly, and I hope she takes this as a cue to shut up.

“I’m serious about this, she…”

“Bella, thanks for your care and everything, but no.” I cut in, shooting her a stern look.

“You never listen to me, Jas.”

“Nor do you!”

If it’s her, then how did she get access to the library? It could be anyone, but definitely a student.

I don’t know why I’m thinking about this, when I know it’ll soon blow over.

No CCTV captured anything, and as long as the rumor clears up, there won’t be a need to know who posted the picture.
